Tattoos and piercings

Why do people get these?
Do you believe they are attempting to send a message to people around them?
Are they purely for themselves to enjoy?

I view them as basically marking your skin as a bumper sticker. It's almost like they're attempting to send a message to society in some edgy way.

Flamboyance is the long and short of it, yeah. There's always some convoluted justification to make it seem less shallow but nobody really believes that.

This

It's literally just "LOOK AT ME" "I'M DIFFERENT" "I'M UNIQUE"

it's for people who are really big on status. they like to brag, they like to let you know frequently their status, their latest achievement, this and that.

it's the barrier that keeps me away from them essentially.

when you have them you're a part of the kool kids tatt klub and can act pretentious about them socially with your other followers.

They're gross, women should be banned from getting tattoos and any piercings besides ears. They ALWAYS make you look worse. I hate seeing an otherwise beautiful girl that has polluted her body with ink or mutilated it with piercings

Normies are braindead, not new information.

Some people like them some dont. Doesnt really matter or affect you either way. I have two and will probably get a third. They all have a connection to something in my life or a meaning.

>trying to pretend it matters

If it's so important why do you need to write it on your skin.

I agree with this, i have a few and they remind me of memory's

i have an m&m for my mother she has the same color m&m tattoo

and i have soot sprites i know im a weeb movie i saw with my family in theaters before my dad went over seas

>Flamboyance
i'm silently flamboyant about it
nobody but those i tell know i have my piercings
they're body piercings, so nobody can see them
i look like any other dude

>women should be banned from getting tattoos and any piercings besides ears.
Idk man, noserings are kinda hot

>feels the need to tell us it doesn't affect us even though we all already universally know this

this is why we don't like you or your life or the meanings you attribute, are you just loving yourself?

i have thought about getting what i'm allergic too tattooed onto me incase something happened to knock me out while requiring medical attention
just have an "X", strike, or something next to it
purely for efficaciousness' sake

Nigger can't you just buy M&Ms why do you need to draw on your skin.

Am I the only one who just simply cannot comprehend this

Why would i want to buy m&m's to think about loving memory's with mommy?
it was my first tattoo i got it when i was 16

Why would you think you need a tattoo to remember a loving memory.

You are making no sense here dawg.

I can somewhat understand the people like in your pic OP but what buggers me is like 16-18 years old girls that get a shitty tattoo on the wrist or ankle, seems like everyone of them has one and it's just dumb.

He just wants it who cares

It's not that I care, I just don't get it.

People can get addicted to the rush of endorphins related to the pain.
Also, being heavily tattooed is associated with bipoliarity in men.

i hate people with visible shit, by the way
unless it's cultural
it shows a lack of character, amongst other things

The origin of tattoos stems from a certain type of lifestyle, whether it be the military, tribe, or gangs, they were originally meant to show recognition as part of a specific group. While this holds true still today, modern times now also depict a culture where commodity, and consumerism reigns supreme, and anyone will get a tattoo for the most inane reason, simply because they have access to a tattoo artist's facility much more openly and easily compared to the past.

That's really what it is. It's to send a message to the world "this is what I like, this is what I'm about, this is who I am", surprisingly you can tell a lot about a person through their tattoos. Just like prison tattoos, every tattoo with thought put into it tells a story, regardless of how shitty they are. It's definitely 100% edgy, less now than it was when tattoos were more taboo, but for some people it's a lifestyle. It's a hobby, it's their passion, their line of work, their career, and that's pretty respectful. The only downside is you get retards like Bieber and other normies who get that specific and shitty style of tattoos, or the hipsters getting the same 5 tattoos(cougar scratching their arm, Hannya masks, ships sailing, shaking hands, roses etc.) and some artists can be really snobby and rude. In general it's a conscious choice that's 50%"i wanna be different/cool/hip" and 50%"i really like this so i want to have it on my body and have an artistic expression of myself on me for me and the world to see"

What's with people who get shit like tattoos and piercings being judgmental of how others do it? It's a very glass houses thing.

What don't dudes with tattoos just use nail art to express themselves instead? It's not permanent that way and everybody already thinks you're a bit of a fag.

havint them and being socially awkward theyre a great way to break the ice. and i just like to decorate my body with tattoos that mean something to me. ex: i tattooed a eye with 2 pupil after my grandparents passed

There's nothing to get. It's like staring at a painting. Each person takes away something different from the work. In this case, it's user and the memory he shared with his mother, a way to remember her, a gentle nudge to help recall half forgotten memories when he stares at something in particular. When I see mine, I remember my 19th birthday, and me and my dad going out, getting drunk, and me getting this stupid design on my arm. The memory attached to it is just as important as the ink itself for most. Even when I'm old(ahahahaha) I'll be able to look back at at least one thing and remember that night when all was good between us.

The fact it's on your skin, usually where nobody can see it, means it's extremely intimate as well, only a few people are going to know you have it, if that. People get shit on a whim, others have meaningful memories attached, hell, even the whims that they regret later in life will often have memories. When the roastie is old and grey and sees it, she can smile and remember how dumb she was as a kid, and all her friends who got the same matching stupid tat with her. I'm probably rambling at this point so I'll stop.

like i said, i look like any other dude
you could not look at me and tell unless i took off my shirt that i have any work done, and that's a fairly intimate thing
the connotations are completely different
it's not just about how you perceive you, but how others perceive you as well

>They always make you look worse
Nipple piercings are always great looking

I got tattoos cause I think they look cool, don't need another reason.

Whether it's visible or not is only part of it. People who get piercings are just perceived to be weird idiots regardless of visibility.

>People who get piercings are just perceived to be weird idiots regardless of visibility.
False. They won't know you're an idiot unless you tell them because they won't know.

That's actually more respectable then trying to bullshit your way around it with "meaning" and shit

Tattoo artist here, I have them all pointed towards me because they are for myself and no one else, I used to draw and paint on everything I could get my hands on ever since I was a tiny kid and could understand the concept of a crayon, it was just a natural step for me to tattoo myself and others and making money with it is just a great bonus since I love doing it. Most people don't share this with me, they want attention, especially women, for some men it's a sign of pride and that you can withstand a great deal of pain. I don't really care for people who try and tell me their life stories or why they want a particular tattoo, for me it's just a matter if I can do it or not since the art of it is the only thing I care about. TL;DR it's just bullshit for people that pay for it like any other art form, only the artists and the people that spend their lives in the culture really get it and that's pretty much how it should be and is for most things in life, also contrary to popular belief people in prison have a greater understanding about the art form and some of them really produce a lot of great work.

it looks cool op don't be such a fucking donut

>liking nose piercings

Get the fuck out.

Those are actually the most disgusting ones.

>also contrary to popular belief people in prison have a greater understanding about the art form and some of them really produce a lot of great work.
white is basically poison because of all the iron

>white
which*
fucking tiredness

I guess I'll just have school you twats on everything since most of you are anti social and will never put those balls to use.these men that get these (yes correct) most gang related were molested or did some fucked up gay shit and they cover themselves to feel more manlier.

I think everybody knows tattoos are gay, dude

Doesn't really matter since it's just sitting there in your skin, the reason tattoos stay under your skin is because the ink particles are too heavy for the white blood cells to carry them to the liver and tattoos slightly fade just little by little over time is because the white blood cells just carry very tiny amounts to the liver to process so the iron isn't really an issue.

Example of fuck gay shit they probably did:
rap artists they get covered in it because they probably blew birdman off to get that record deal.. or diddy ya muthafuckas get it?
