I find it hard to accept when there's so much superior drawn material around. Shirobako had some interesting musings on the subject. CGI is relatively cheaper than oldie method and will improve a great deal ahead I'm sure, but for now we will probably have to put up with it being shit.

It has excellent writing, direction, character design and voice acting. The animation is clumsy but easy to watch. It was a massive hit in Japan, not some weeaboo thing (and weeaboos for all intents and purposes no longer exist anyway). In the West it isn't popular.

and? is there a quota for how many arguments makes a case? Another user posted an alternative version of the show above and it looks so much better. The vast majority of the background is just plain and simple green grassy fields and cloudy skies, it's a far stretch to call that high quality, this anime does not have a single "artistic prerender" bg afaik.
