Not him, but a huge fan of the series. I'd rate them (from best to worst):
Bloodborne
Dark Souls
Dark Souls 2 (if you include DLC)
Demon Souls (only one I haven't fully played through, so I can't really fairly rate this one)
Dark Souls 3

I'm in the minority in thinking Dark Souls 2 is good. Also it's important to note that Dark Souls 2 wasn't actually directed by Miyazaki. Also important to mention that Demon Souls is a precursor and Dark Souls was seen as a spiritual successor to it. Also, Bloodborne is tehcnically unrelated, but shares many similar mechanics with various twists (faster combat, guns, trick weapons, way different healing system, just to name a few), and is therefore lumped into the "SoulsBorne" games.

Reasons:
Bloodborne and Dark Souls were very close in the running, but I ultimately gave it to Bloodborne because I really like the more aggressive play style and I like the lore/atmosphere more.
I like Dark Souls 2 a lot mainly because PvP was easily the best in the games, and the main bosses of the DLC were phenomenal. Also Powerstance is easily my favorite dual wielding mechanic in any video game ever.
Demon Souls I've only played a small portion of, but it also gets brownie points for being the beginning of the Souls games. Plus, what I have played was really good.
Dark Souls 3 I don't think is a bad game (I'd still rate it better than just about any other game except MGS 1 and 3 and Halo 2, 3, and Reach), however, I really dislike the PvP in that game because they increased the pace of things and it lets people spam dodge without much cost. Plus, shielding is pretty broken sometimes because of the stamina issues, and the shield break isn't as strong as DS2's shield break is. I do however thing the general atmosphere in DS3 is better than DS2's. Can't comment on the comparison w/ Demon Souls since I haven't played enough of it.

Excellent taste, play more of DeS though and it'll move up over DS2, I guarantee it. Especially now that you can't see how shitty the PvP was in that game.

I'm the guy who put Bloodborne at almost last place and my reasoning is I'm a pc gamer and will never be able to own Bloodborne or Bloodborne 2 which will inevitably come out
