Most diet sodas and artificially sweetened beverages are okay. Not great but okay. Sugar free gum is a huge no go. They usually contain sugar alcohols that are glycemic unlike beverages which usually use just aspartame and acesulfame k which aren't. If drinking some sparkling water helps you get through don't feel too bad about them.

i might not be in ketosis yet but i do feel different, could that just be a mental thing caused by close to 0 levels of carbs in the system?

Also worth mentioning the reason i'm doing keto is because i got real sick for a full 3-4 weeks so i was unable to do any exercise, and i literally lost all ab-definition and shit in just 3 weeks.
Which is the main reson i'm oing this, but also i've heard swimming on a keto diet is an interesting experience as you don't experience what's referred to as "Bonking" mid practice. Yet you definitely won't be able to do any sprint records apparently...

First time posting here, is dry fasting a meme? I was originally just gonna water fast with a spoonful of salt every day but I want to drop all of this weight fast. I'm talking like 100 pounds down by August, I'll do anything at this point.

Adaptation fucking sucks. Your body takes a few days to swap over from glycogen to ketone usage even after glycogen stores are depleted. Muscle soreness might be due to a lack of electrolytes since your body flushes a lot of sodium and potassium out when you piss out the water that was stored with your glycogen stores. Buy some potassium salt like NoSalt or Lite Salt and mix a tsp with a liter of water and sip it over the day. You'll still feel kind of bad until your body fully adapts to keto but your muscles won't ache as badly. I know personally if I don't supplement potassium my legs cramp like hell when walking.

Your body isn't into ketosis yet. It takes a while, and even then you have ketones flu to contend with.

Being in your 2nd day it's probably potassium/sodium and general hydration that needs to be checked.

Alright, with no meal prep, and eating I realize I have about two to three extra hours a day for when I fast.

It's "fasting" for people who are convinced they need to eat 3-6 meals per day. It's a big bag of nothing for most people here. If I weren't doing a 47:1 I'd be doing 23:1.

The potassium is probably the culprit then. Your dick will be like Niagara Falls for the first week and that flushes everything out. Eating greens helps and throwing an avocado in there wouldn't hurt either. But you'll likely still need to supplement with ketoade or what we call snake juice. If you're in burgerland you'll be able to find potassium salt in any supermarket. A magnesium supplement wouldn't hurt either, just try to avoid oxide since its bioavailability is low.

Hey gang. Never fasted before. I'm sitting at 181lbs, 19% bf. Been trying a 2000 cal cut for the past two weeks with diminishing results. I want to try intermittent fasting (ie 16/8 or 20/4). My question is should I remain on a 2000 cal (or less) diet during my feeding time? And what is the ideal fasting/feeding ratio?

Most days I eat a lot of veggies and some meat, usually pork of some kind.
I also have pasta, curries, the occassional pizza, basically just normal food.

Is there anything i can add to the snake juice to make it more drinkable?

You can use water flavoring bullshit like Mio if you want to make it taste slightly better but you probably shouldn't. Though if it helps you get through the day it's not a horrible idea since all of the sweeteners are non-glycemic.

I buy a 3lb chuck roast and get 3 meals of protein/fat out of it, add some cheese or something for extra fat/food and whatever non carb veggies you enjoy, they are usually pretty cheap. go to a farmers market or produce stand for them and look for weekend sales for meat at your local grocery store or meat market

for instance, 3lb chuck roast cost me $9@3/lb
I buy a pack of 12 cheddar sticks or whatever and eat 2-3 with my meal $4dollars a pack( maybe be cheaper if you buy a block and cut stick yourself) and around $2 worth of veggies for a total of around $20 a week,

No clue as I haven't tested it thoroughly enough to know my limit. I usually try to stay below 20g. Honestly it's kind of difficult for me to eat 20g of carbs unless I'm specifically eating shit that's loaded with carbs like dark chocolate or some other weird craving like that. I have eaten some cake which was around 40g of carbs for my GF's birthday and didn't feel any negative effects the next day. So I'm guessing my threshold is around 50g. I don't use blood tests or urine sticks though and really only go by feeling.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you have dietary restrictions. OMEOD makes it really fucking difficult to eat over 20g of carbs at 1500 calories unless you're specifically choosing carby foods.

do you have keto stix? is it pure sugar or vegetables? if you are knocked out of ketosis, it wouldn't be for too long

the main thing would be using scale feedback. if you aren't losing 0.5lbs per day on average on 47/1 IF then you are eating too many calories from sugar. it would need to be like 4000 calories though ahhha

Spinach, string beans, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprouts (fairly high for this list so make sure not to overeat on them), and avocados occasionally.

Oh also mushrooms. They work well as a meaty filler and as texture in stir fry.

I personally use soy sauce + hot water as my soup broth. you can also use chicken bouillon cube, or virtually any canned broth or "just add water" mix at the grocery store

there will already be plenty of sodium in those options and yeah, add potassium to taste. 1.5g of potassium should be fine. add it slowly, to taste.

Cancer fag reporting in. Second round is over. Re-fed this morning before coming to work.

I should have re-fed tomorrow but I dropped a lot this last round. I think I was just way too active. Dropped 18lbs on top of the 5 I'd lost previously. Down to 173 and lean as fuark.

Some of the nodules that were hard on my upper body were "soft and squidgy" on Saturday when I met with the oncologist. And my breathing is definitely becoming easier. My coughing is reduced too.

In all I feel great still considering I have gone through two 2 week chemo treatments.

There's a guy my age in there too and he's having a horrible time. He's all sorts of nauseous and laughing about how wrong he was saying I would be the miserable one from not eating.
