I have a large chest, which makes extra pounds even more unflattering (in fact I have been considering a breast reduction for quite some time now). I'm also kind of nervous about going to the gym. Any other busty girls on here with experience working out?

I read the sticky but it seems geared more towards strength building. I want to go to the gym to lose weight, not gain muscle. What kind of routine would be most effective? I suffer from moderate back pain as well, so exercises to strengthen that area would be appreciated.

You will literally lose more weight if you do some sort of strength training routine, you won't become Arnold or Dorian Yates overnight. I don't see why incorporating a strength routine and cardio (swimming or cycling) along with a slightly restricted diet can't work.

Review sites that have instruction on how to handle working out with a larger bust. You'll probably need to double sports bra, at minimum, to maintain that heft. Low impact cardio, maybe some yoga that would lead into more intense yoga like holding poses and the like to build up endurance but will still build up a hella sweat, however predominantly if you start lifting with weights you won't get bulky but you will lose fat and burn calories. Also watch that diet.

Don't be intimidated by going to the gym. You've probably heard this countless times before but most people won't give a shit about you because they'll be focused on their own thing for the most part, those tits are nice lmfao.

If you can, try going during the late evening/at night. There's usually less folks there so you have less to worry about.

It will work your muscles, but you will in no way look like a giant bodybuilder. Look up Elizabeth Anne Pelayo (spelling?). She's of similar proportions to you and lifts too. Squats, deadlifts, rows, etc. She built her ass by lifting. You can follow a strength routine to gain strength, and do cardio + eat at a deficit to lose weight. Use a web calculator to see your caloric requirements for one day, then eat 400-500 below that, and throw in regular cardio work. The elliptical is fine. Give it three months of regular work and diet and you'll drop the weight.

Also genuine question, do you have defined/stronger muscles on your lower back from holding your chest up? Is this somewhere you frequently get pain/soreness?

Idk what I weighed back then, maybe 150lbs. I weigh 170 now (gained weight in college, typical I know).

My chest isn't nearly as big as yours but it's big enough where clothes tend to just drape and hide everything. Also almost all my aunts had chests like your own.

Ime your best bet is tops made of stretchy material (though I'll be honest, I'm not 100% sure if this is an option for you, but it's worth looking into), or cinching it all in with a belt. Also if you don't already, look into minimizer bras. They won't pad things down hugely, but I think every little bit helps.

I haven't been measured in a while, but I wear a 34K currently (UK size). I'm probably closer to an M cup now though. Bra sizing is actually a huge pet peeve of mine lol, so many girls wear the wrong size and it kills their back.

Use this: tdeecalculator.net/ and get your numbers. Remove 500 calories from your daily and start there. Aim to lose 1lb per week, and set your goal at 165, rather than 150 in one go.


You can get the reduction, but losing the weight first is probably a better idea. 5 months of work and you may find you're totally happy with your body and dont want the reduction. Or you want it more. Either way, 5 months of diet is nothing compared to the effects and costs of surgery.
