I am thinking more along the lines of staying in contact and proposing out of the blue once she's 18. She might even go for it, especially since her family seems to approve of me and it's possible they might put pressure on her. On the other hand her parents are lawyers and I can barely pay my rent.

No. I found her again after several years by visiting her church and the byproduct of that was that I became involved with her church community. If I ghost her I ghost about ten other innocent people and I don't want to do that.
