How long should my workout last?

I see a lot of people saying that 45-60 minutes is ideal, but then I see a lot of people posting routines that take about 90 minutes or even more.

What is the ideal workout time for strength training? For bodybuilding?

Personally I feel like once I go over an hour, I just wanna get the fuck out of the gym

5 minutes of stretching if I'm feeling a bit tight
45 - 60 minutes lifting weight
30 minutes cardio

Of course, that all gets blown out the water if you do strength training. Heavy lifts with big rest times tend to push your lifting time towards that 90 minute+ area

1.5 to 2 hours. I go for volume over max rep shit tho

30-45 min if you're a low test beta cuck, 90min-2 hours otherwise

1 hour is fine

time alone literally doesn't matter
a 20 minute workout of 3 sets of squats an 3 sets of bench press would be 10 times more effective than 2 hours of fucking around

home gym master race here, the routine I do used to take about 2.5 hours in the gym now takes me 15-30 minutes at home

Well if you actually rested well between sets and made gains then the minimum is 1.5 hours. People spend an hour or less because they rush sets as they're anxious and cant bear to be in the moment

>10 minute stretching
>warmup set + 2 80% sets + 2 40% sets for 10x reps of 80% set + 1 80% failure set + warmup failure set
>90 minute cardio
Get anywhere between 2.5 and 4 hours full body 3 days a week.

1 hour max. Anything more than that means you're being a lazy faggot

The biggest difference comes from how long people take to rest.

Personally I can't be bothered to take long rests even though I know it's supposedly more effective.

Try out a few things
Figure out what you want from your exercise sessions, your time, your recovery, and your personality.
From there you can begin to workout how you plan to approach things
The time overall isn't the issue.
The effectiveness of the workout and your ability to recover from it and how it will impact your life is.

The workout can be 20 minutes of intense hardcore screaming forced action, or a 2.5 hour long leisurly training session that leaves you tired but feeling great.
Or just a hour long session that you can walk away refreshed from but still know you did what you needed to do and don't have to do anything else.

for me: Stretch 5min
Lifting total: 35min
rest total: 10-15 min depending what i'm doing

I go for 1-1.5 hours. It depends on your routine and how fast you go through it, though I can't imagine why you would want to sit in your gym for any longer

90 if ur doing 3 days split
30 t0 45 min is if ur doing 5++ day split

I just went yesterday with my bro for 3 hours. We had the time so we just kept adding excercises

I try to hover around 1.5 hrs including stretching
Always stretch
Don’t listen to the fucking brainlets here who think it’s a meme

The closer I get to 90 minutes the less fun weightlifting feels. I enjoy lifting 6 days a week for 6 hours rather than 4 days a week for 1.5 hours.

stop posting

Was your previous gym in somebodies garage with 2000 members waiting for equipment?

For some reason my early sets have big ol rest times without me even noticing it. Then things start speeding up at the end. But then it's mostly compounds to start so expected.
I lean about 60-80 or 90min just depends on your workout I guess.
Why are you asking really? If your program takes 45 minutes it takes 45 minutes are you just going to sit around to make it take 90 instead?

about 90 minutes

anything longer than 5-10 minutes is a waste unless you are an athlete

Time doesn't matter, it's the work you put in that matters. It can be 30 min if you put in the work and do it right.

Depends.

If you're maxing out or lifting heavy your shit is probably not gonna go for long. If you're going for volume, longer. I usually go high reps over heavy weight, so I'll workout a total of like 2 hours. Today for example
>8 AM
>Go do biceps until about 9:10
>Leave
>Getting ready for work
>After work will go back at like 10 PM to do triceps
>Then will do cardio for like 30 mins

This. You could fuck around and spend 5 hours in the gym and still get in a good workout as long as you did all of your reps and sets in that 5 hour window. Whether you could do that same amount of work in 4 hours, 2 hours or a half hour is pretty much irrelevant to the weightlifting and growth aspect of it, it just comes down to how much time you have/are willing to piss away.

That being said if you are not fucking around socialising or some shit then hitting the 2-1/2 hour mark is pushing it. On the other hand unless you are working some really barebones routine you should be hitting around an hour at least or else you could probably be pushing yourself harder on compounds and therefore taking longer breaks.

Is this chick an IG slut?

isn't every chick with above average looks an insta/twitch/youtube slut these days?

>7 sets
>full body
>3 times a week
never gonna make it

Yeah I'm no expert at all but it seems like if you're doing 45mins in the gym at heavy compounds you could stand to add more exercises somehow, unless it's simply because that's all the time you can budget

What a moron. I stretch for 20 minutes and do full body so I take 1.5 hours.

Compounds alone are best for beginners, which implies a shorter workout 45-60min. As you start to get stronger and figure out what you're doing, different things get added in. I started with SS now I have my own routine that works for me, takes around 1.5 hours

>isn't every chick with above average looks an insta/twitch/youtube slut these days?

Maybe, but Ive seen too many QTs working as grocery store managers/retail in general/boring jobs to make me think its not that big

1h to 1h30m
5 min active stretch
Three main exercises (squat/bench/rows/ohp) of 2x5 (warmup with lower weights) and 3x6 (full weight)
2-3 accessories or deadlift and 1 accessory (accessories at 2x10/12)
Finish it with a two minutes plank.

bump for her name?

yeah this is the money zone.

Watch your rest times. In my experience not tracking rest times leads to longer rest times than necessary which make workouts take forever for no reason. Even when training heavy chances are you need less rest than you are taking between sets.

Same workout can take 50 minutes or 90 minutes depending on nothing more than your rest times on, say, squat and deadlift.

when do you squeeze in time to flirt with the cardio bunny if youre always looking at the clock user

Not at the gym for 1.5 to 2+ hours. Speeding through sets. Never gonna make it.

>anons who stretch before lifting
Why? Seems like a waste of time and a way to hurt yourself. Shouldn't you be doing a dynamic warmup, which is as simple as doing a few compound motions with an empty bar and maybe some jumping jacks or a couple minutes on an elliptical?

stretching is good post workout. not sure about hurting yourself by doing it before.. but yeah i always warm up with some light weight bby.. i also feel you can zero in on good form and mind muscle connecting

Atleast an hour. If it's under an hour I feel like I didn't do shit. Usually around two hours

My warmup
>I stand in the rack and grab the bar like I'm going for a pullup, but just retract my scapula a few times
>I do like 20 jumping jacks
>I do empty bar seal rows
>I do some trunk twists
>I do empty bar presses or benches
>I do like ten hindu squats
This takes maybe 5 minutes. Anything else I should be doing?

>stretch
>when i'm doing the exercise i'll do a warm up set
>for example when I bench, I will bench the bar x 12 or so for 1 set
>then usually do a light set like 25 pounds for bench and then move to real weight

I aim for less than 2 hours so I only have to pay $2 for parking.

depends what i'm doing
lifting - 45 minutes
cardio - 20-30 minutes
sauna - 15 - 30 minutes

sometimes i do all three, other just the one

you should stretch after working out

This guy knows.

I go for 90 minutes to 120, depending on not if its a day i work abs too.
The pros dont go for 45 minutes a day.

the pros are also on a load of gear

Some girls are so hot it fucks up my day. God damnit

Literally went back to find another thread and had to come back in here after seeing op pic again to restate how much this girl just fucked up my day

The fuck is wrong with me
