I don't think it'll abruptly fall apart, but I believe it's already degenerating and within the next couple of decades we'll reach the epitome of post modernist filth, which is essentially every traditional value of western culture dying, and therefore somewhat of a collapse of society.
It's still possible that everything will go to complete shit and fall apart, war, maybe civil war in some nations. Western people are becoming extremely polarised, especially in Europe. We now have literal commies running around trying to build their way up in society, and on the other side nazis are also growing in numbers. There's absolutely no way that your peaceful, comfy modern life will stay the same forever, accept it.

It's pretty much impossible to take the guns away from Americans considering the sheer amount of gun owners.
The only possible way to do it is to bring the military in. In that scenario a civil war would start between gun owners and the government, and I bet a lot of soldiers would side the with the civilians anyway.
