Not OP, but I've always wanted to do some stupid high risk job in isolation like being stationed on an oil rig as an electrician for 4 months at a time or being a PMC. How do you find jobs like that? It's not like I have social obligations.

I'm not. I'm in the EU. I do wear a helmet. I do a lot of bike actually, +10h/week. What is really worrying is to have to cross intersections you don't know well. Also the pollution and weather in summer, I have a Respro mask tough. If I do that, I will most likely take my time and be sure I know the roads I'm riding on.

Most likely a highly qualified degree in engineering. Jobs on oil rig are well paid because of the isolation treatment. Infact, this is probably something I would have find interest in.

Yeah very ashamed. I haven't slept properly in weeks because of the shame of soon being a 26 yo unemployed man. I have a bunch of gaps in my CV as well, have never had a proper job. I've been applying for jobs but no responses so far. Tomorrow I'll apply to one by phone, feeling a bit nervous about it but don't give so many fucks anymore.
How old are you? I try to find solace in the fact that at least I'm moving forward in life, and spend my free summers on developing employable skills. It still hurts to see people four years younger than me with nice careers making lots of money though.

I'm 22. I understand these feelings. Very reliable. Hopefully I have two more years of study to get prepared. I have planned the moment when I will have to start my professional life. I should have the required working experience. My present situation is mostly the result of past habits of procrastination and unwillingness to start my adult life. It makes it more understandable to me. But I can read on the face of my father how ashamed he is of his son.

Do not try to be the "SLAVE MASTER", they only pay you 100-200 bucks more than a normal warehouse employee. As a warehouse employee, you literally just pack things.

And a staff has to regulate the working force. The relation between the employer and the employees has to be regulated by laws. Therefore Lawyers are needed.

The reason why they don't is because it's not efficient for them to waste their time there.
