Asceticism is deliberate self denial as virtue. Stoicism is the pursuit of virtue. While possible to be ascetic as a means of stoicism, it's not the same thing.
You can be a hedonist and stoic at the same time, if the hedonism is in pursuit of virtue, which is defined by classical stoics as the goodness, justness, and not letting your fears and desires control you.
The difference between a wanton hedonist and a stoic when confronted with pleasure, the hedonist engages because they are compelled to and cannot resist. The stoic considers and chooses to participate, not commanded by their vices (though vices they may have but the principle of the philosophy revolves not around perfection but simply asserting control over said vices). The stoic does not have to deny themselves pleasure, but the pleasure should serve an avenue of greater good or at the very least do no harm.
Being stoic is easy. It requires the barest level of emotional intelligence and is the hallmark of any man of substance.
