I really want to visit japan someday but I'd feel really weird and out of place going by myself. I have no real friends and I worry I wouldn't enjoy myself.

Traveling alone is much better than traveling with somebody else. your time schedule, you get to do what you want, see what you want to see... it's really, really super comfy to go to new countries. I work in Japan as an English teacher. As long as you understand it's a tedious job with no chance for future sucess you'll be okay. If you literally only want to earn enough money to exist then its good.

To get an English 'teacher' job you just have to have a bachelors and come from an English speaking country. The Japs obviously can't teach themselves English so you'll always have a (shitty) job at least.
