If you do, start with Welcome to the NHK.

No, watch well written movies/shows.

Just because you're on a loser board, does that mean you keel over and die if you ever so much as gaze upon something not made to cater to you you, autist?

There's tons of nice anime.

Just look up people's favorites and stop using this site ironically animu posting, you faggots piss me off.

yes.

There are many gateway tier animes, I'm currently almost finished with bleach (episode 304/366). I wouldn't consider it a gateway because it's super long and has pointless fillers.

Look to start with a few short and sweet animes, less than a hundred episodes.

Cowboy Bebop
Code Geass
Death Note
Psycho Pass
Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin)

Movies are good too. Spirited Away Howl's Moving Castle and anything else Miyazaki (search the director on wikipedia and find what else he's done to explore)

Kimi No Nawa (Your Name)
A Silent Voice had me in tears
Ghost in the Shell (1995)

I've watched more than just these but they don't spring to mind and I don't want to overwhelm or bore you.

You better start with Haruhi faggot

KIll youtself tripfaggot

No, you're probably a normalfaggot, so you don't watch with subbed. There's no point in watching dubbed anime.

steins gate is good everything else so so

If you are looking to lose braincells then go for it. My experience with anime has been pretty bad i remember watching sword art online season 1 when i was 14 or so, 4 years later i rewatch this anime with the new season and fuck that was cringy af. There is a lot of moment where for examples a underaged girl is being attacked by tentacles or is just being spied on by a camera doing realy sexy postures. Most of animes ( especialy the new ones) are drama shows for a younger public in my opinion. The fanbase is just trash go to any anime convention and youll get a general idea of how a generic anime viewer behave like. Perhaps there is anime like ghost in a shell, akira etc... that has nothing to do with this degenerate version of anime. Just watch out, dont turn into a borderline pedophile.

That anime was below average.

Shinji is a way more relatable character. Well maybe to me.

Pointless post is pointless.

You bring nothing, nothing at all to the board, is that why you are hiding away and never trip?

Oh dear.

Have fun blacked bait posting or whatever you jew.

It was garbage and due to the meme element this board HAS to post always two anime series, SEL and NHK. Lain is actually fine and that earned it it's own imageboard.

But people like it because of being on the Internet too long so it's not like it's an escape from reality, it breaks the forth wall like NHK does in a way.

NGE is an escape yet you relate to Shinji if you want, it's about more than just Shinji's teen angst though.

>SAO

You did it to yourself dumb ass. Learn to research what is actually good.

>animes
>underage girl paydo jab

Slam that button faggot you don't belong here.

>video game is the only anime I like
Faggots today I swear.

Ive only seen dragon ball and Jojo what should I watch next

>Cowboy Bebop etc.
These recs are always the same and tend to be very similar to each other which gives people false expectations.

You've clearly lost braincells, but not because of anime. There are thousands of anime and you declare all of it braindead because you watched SAO when you were 14.

>Most of animes
How would you know anything about most anime when you have only seen one? Why do so many people think that even the most casual contact with anime instantly makes them experts on it?

>The fanbase is just trash go to any anime convention and youll get a general idea of how a generic anime viewer behave like.
Then don't go to conventions.

>Just watch out, dont turn into a borderline pedophile.
Pedophilia is a feature of Western media, not anime.

that is true, i haven't really explored much outside of these recs, i know there are different genres, especially feminine genre (shojo, right?).

I don't know, It's like asking me my tastes in music, I'm gonna say basic shit like Linkin Park and Gorillaz but not tell you more about the prog metal that I listen to.

Not defending very well here, let me just say I enjoyed every single one of these recommendations that I made and welcome you to add your own.

That's because you're a dumb normalfag

tripfaggot absolutely seething.you ok faggot?stepdad fucking mommy too loudly again?

Evangelion is one of the only well written ones.

>inb4 Utena
absolute shite

I highly recommend one punch man for first time watchers

>>>/britfeel/ to be quite honest famalamicoms

It's just that those recs get posted everywhere all the time, and often by people who've seen little else. This has the effect of reducing recommended/good anime just to those titles, and giving people the expectation that this is what anime is supposed to be like. Then they get mad when they find out it isn't.

Then again it's hard to make a list that's varied and not too long, especially if you're just replying to someone on a forum.

>Evangelion is one of the only ones I've seen

kono suba you hikineet nerd

What are some Ciara-core animes?

There are some good anime out there. But I find that after a while I get tired of a show and start to feel like I'm wasting my life. I try limit it to series with ~26 episodes unless it's some great masterpiece like Utena or something,

Watch ef

Ignore recommendations from people with high powerlevels and watch the things that always get recommended. You can only enjoy shit when you first start so you might as well watch it while you can enjoy it.

>watch the things that always get recommended
Exactly the problem I just described:

Shit advice
Dont watch some normies shit like bleach or other trash.
The only mainstream anime you should watch is my hero academia

Who else misses /a/ before 2010?

Attached: 4.jpg (500x646, 36K)

People should enjoy the entry level things in any hobby before moving on because that's the only time that they'll be able to enjoy them. If you skip right to the good stuff you're going to cut yourself off of enjoying 90% of any consumption hobby.

There is no core of "good stuff" that anyone can skip to.

Thats kinda the teen phase tho. You should only start if your a normie. I doubt a normiewould post on r9k

what weeaboos call "good stuff" is actually boring for most people because the storytelling takes a backseat to edgy visuals and/or needless commentary. the only reason weeaboos even talk shit about popular animes is because they became popular. they loved early naruto and dbz.

>this has the effect of reducing recommended/good anime to just those titles

as does all pop culture I guess

>they get posted every time
Unironically, aren't they good? It's very subjective to suggest that they're not when I'm willing to say I enjoyed the time spent on them and would be more willing to explore different or better anime now that I have been through those recs.

>what anime is supposed to be like

Not trying to sound pretentious but if I enjoyed them personally, then my iimpression of what anime is like should be favourable, no?

>then again it's hard to make a list

Absolutely. One of the more difficult things is compressing things into a small list when you've seen so much at so many different times... I'm really not what you would call an aficionado when it comes to finer anime culture, but I'd also find it hard to talk about my favourite music for reasons talked about before.

Also, because having an expectation as to what an artform should be like is the wrong way to appreciate art.

That's my opinion though, take it with a grain of salt.

What makes you think this has anything to do with weeaboos, who essentially died off years ago and were best known for their love of anime like Naruto?

>Unironically, aren't they good?
Their quality is not the issue. The issue is that almost nothing else gets recommended. And at the same time many people claim that they are the only good anime in existence. There's almost a cult around these anime.

can't say I ever browsed /a/ back in those times. I was /b/ Jow Forums Jow Forums and Jow Forums religiously

Subjectivity definitely plays a role but there are anime that are objectively better than other anime. For example, I don't think anyone would argue that Ping Pong is worse than the Pupa.
>I doubt a normiewould post on r9k
my sides

>being an sjw about which cartoons are recommended
knowing that nobody talks about anime in public, a "cult" following would not matter at all. and im sure you realize that people are smart enough to look for other animes beyond recommendations. watching the most broadly liked/well made productions first is not an issue. what is your actual argument?

>there's almost a cult around these anime

No doubt. For the same reason Nirvana still has shirt sales... inexplicable human attachment to Nostalgia.

Can you please share an anime list that doesn't include anything I've posted here: because you've said that you liked other anime but you haven't specified what. I'm interested in what you have to say on the subject and I'm sure anyone else browsing ITT is too.

>being an sjw about which cartoons are recommended
I said or implied nothing that would suggest I'm an SJW or in some way SJW-like, nor was I talking about cartoons at any point.

>knowing that nobody talks about anime in public, a "cult" following would not matter at all.
Huh?

>and im sure you realize that people are smart enough to look for other animes beyond recommendations.
They very often aren't.

>what is your actual argument?
I clearly stated it already.

Here's some /a/ list, and at the bottom is a shitload of charts made on Jow Forums.

animu-mango.wikia.com/wiki/Anime_Recommendations

I could list some of my favorite anime but that's different from trying to come up with a list meant for newbies.

thanks for the list, much appreciated homeslice.

I obviously did. Why are you lying?

>you didn't though.
Right here:
>I said or implied nothing that would suggest I'm an SJW or in some way SJW-like, nor was I talking about cartoons at any point.
And here:
>They very often aren't.
And here:
>I clearly stated it already.

>and you have a poor understanding of those words.
It's everyone else who has a poor understanding of them.

your "issue" is just with which anime are represented purely because some are never represented. there is no logic there.

saying people can't find cartoons outside of recommendations is pathetic.

you haven't said anything of substance to address my points.

>your "issue" is just with which anime are represented purely because some are never represented. there is no logic there.
I very clearly stated my logic, and you obviously can't argue against it since you keep pretending I never said anything.

>saying people can't find cartoons outside of recommendations is pathetic.
I wasn't talking about cartoons, I was talking about anime. And it's simply reality that many people are reliant on recommendations.

>you haven't said anything of substance to address my points.
Lying again. Why are you even inserting yourself into this thread when you have nothing to say?

you have no argument yet. you can keep trying though.

Seriously, why are you here? You keep lying, you keep ignoring what I'm saying, yet somehow you're still trying to argue about something here. What the fuck are you doing?

Don't do it. Just look at these faggots

if you dont start watching anime as a teen then you will never like it

Attached: no.jpg (199x200, 8K)

I didn't start to really watch it until I was in my twenties.

>really
seems like a keyword, did you have prior experience despite not getting super into it when younger?

I watched a few anime here and there as part of a general interest in Japanese and Asian film and television.
