Tinder has a hidden ranking system. The worse your like to match ratio, the fewer "feeds" you get put on. Due to the 12:1 male/female gender ratio on Tinder, this makes matching as a male incredibly difficult without Gold/Plus. Your best option is, funnily, to just keep making new profiles for the initial ranking boost you get.

Another thing to consider with Tinder is that it just straight up fucking lies to you sometimes. I have swiped on a girl, only for her to appear on my feed again after I exited and opened the app to restart it. This tells me that a lot of my swipes either aren't registered at all, or Tinder is just putting the same girl on my feed over and over again to clog it up.
