Here's the thing. I'm 32. I've been single quite a bit, but right now I've been in a relationship for about a year.

At some point, your friends all start having girlfriends and wives. Then kids. They start to need hall passes more and more just to go play cards or hit the bars or golf or whatever. Eventually they get really busy and they stop responding to texts for a while.

You can make new friends, sure. But honestly, just be prepared for people's priorities to change. And get comfortable spending time by yourself if you stay single.

From experience. Happened when I was in a relationship 24-26 and I imagine if I was older it might have been worse. Thank fuck I never followed through on marrying. One serious relationship since then. I attended to my own feelings and needs as well as theirs and simply cared a bit less, it was so much easier and happier. And I was able to just walk away.

I at least know the red flags, what I want and how to have a better relationship now. But I am possibly fucked, because I just couldn't bring myself to care and don't know if I'll be able to again after being with that first girl.

Through that build up to fucking they don't have to know you but if you're going to commit to someone long-term and you give them a different impression of you to what they are going to get then either they'll try to change you, you'll try to change for them, or resentment will ensue. Sometimes that's a good thing, like the "woman making a man out of you" scenario but usually it's better to be strong in who you are and know yourself before getting into a relationship.
