I learned today that without a doubt riding your bike is a complete waste of time. For 2 months I have been biking on a stationary bike 10 miles at about 22-24 mph depending on how I felt. I had taken about 5 yrs off from competitive running and put on about 30 lbs so I wanted to try biking before running thinking it would help me ease in to it. Today I put on the running shoes and made it a 1/4 mile at about 7:30 pace before I was keeling over and threw up. I remember running repeat miles at 4:50 or better and not feeling this bad. The cycling I did the last 2 months didn't even come close to a 1/4 miles worth of barely jogging. Cycling is no more than sitting on your ass moving your legs. I am no amateur. I ran Division 1 XC so I know about pace and other things that you might bring up LEARN FROM ME, IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT SUBSTITUTING CYCLING FOR RUNNING DON'T EVEN BOTHER. WILL JUST MAKE OTHER MUSCLES SORE
Cycling is for faggots, RUN!

brah bikes are vehicles made to move people places fast with relative ease
no shit its easy
almost like different forms of cardio don't translate to endurance in other forms of cardio that well
>i am no amateur
wrong
>spangles
whelp I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow
Also more likely to cause dick cancer

Cardio kills gains bro
You didn't read the article. Classic Jow Forums headline and abstract scraper.
swimming is the way to go
I dont know why people hate it so much on these boards
lmao idiot
Well, I would argue that you werent actually training
Fuck 22-24 did you even get your heart rate out of zone 1? Did your legs ever burn? Everytime you rode?
Then you weren't really training
>stationary bike
It increases PSA, which means it triggers Androgen Receptors. Excellent for us who want to raise test and gain muscles, also you pretty much can only get prostate cancer past 50, being young and high test is very healthy.
>siRNA knockdown of PSA resulted in reduced AR protein levels

Legs burned quite a bit everyday. Pulse monitor had me at about 165-175 during most of the workout.
Your probably right though, I think those cycling calorie counters are way to high, and the running ones are embarrassingly low. There is no way I burned almost 800 calories biking 10 miles. Gave me an inflated sense of where I was. Running today was my wake up call
Yeah, calorie counters suck, dont believe them.
to maintain on the bike, I have to push hard every ride, if you are just spinning, your sliding back.
Biking does nothing to help with impact forces, you running would still beat you up. Maybe when you get over the hump on dealing with the pounding your fitness will come back quicker than otherwise.

>stationary bike
What is easier on the joints? Treadmill running or stationary biking?
Definitely running is about the worst thing you can do for your joints. even if it is on a treadmill
Go with the bike
Because Jow Forums's full of insecure fatties/NEETs who don't want to be half naked in public.

I respectfully disagree. Biking can be good, but running just isn't as bad as people claim it to be.
I fucking love swimming, but my gym's pool is full of old people. Can't get a good lap in without stopping for Margret doing her water aerobics.
I've been biking for a while before my lifts, generally about 45 minutes in the "fat burn" heart rate zone. I'm sure running for 45 minutes would be better, but I'm not doing effectively nothing, am I?
Swimming is logistically more difficult than cycling or running. It's understandable that it's not popular.
Enjoy your lower test production induced by the contact of chloride to the testes/prostate.
>inb4 muh olympian swimmers who are on $10K a month of roids
Jesus dude what's wrong with you
>In a study led by Nickmilder et al., it was found out that adolescent boys who’d been “heavy users” of chlorinated swimming pools had significantly lower testosterone levels than boys who weren’t that keen on swimming.
Are you quoting the wrong person? Why are you talking about random nonsense from uncreditable sites that are unrelated to my post?
Did you watch your mother drown in a swimming competition when you were a kid or something? I don't even swim, stop replying to me.
>adolescent boys
>heavy users
>chlorine pools
None of this applies to this thread.
>uses swimming to train cardio meaning you'll become a heavy user
>thinks adolescent are a completely different specie that responds differently to the contact of chlorine to the testes
>thinks people train for swimming in unchlorinated water
Sup swimming jew.
lol are you serious
yes, adolescents who are prepubescent are absolutely different than adults in the context of hormones and external effects on hormones
>calling me a jew for having 2nd grade science education
oh nevermind you're actually retarded lol
>uncreditable sites
Nice unfounded argument.
Because men grow a much thicker layer of testes skin that prevents chlorine to disrupt endocrine functions.
Oh nevermind you're an hypocritical retard who parades pseudoscience.
College times?
Link me a study that talks about the demographic of people in this thread.
>parades psuedoscience
>LITERALLY linking studies performed on prepubescent adolescents under heavy training and saying it's comparable to adult males who don't heavily train
LOL
actually smiling at my monitor. why are all Jow Forumstards such mongoloids
biking is for ppl who want to have good aerobic health while having strong legs
>22-24 mph
>stationary bike
Lol you were going 0 mph.
