Whats the best way to drop snatch? I feel like there’s so many variations ? I personally like the pushpress+footsloss drop
He's actually muscle snatching an impressive amount of weight, and it's not like he's trying to snatch
Holy fuck. How much could he actually lift with anything resembling proper form?
Not much, his tech would need a couple of months of work, maybe 225?
youtube.com
>First time doing these. Absolutely zero technique.
the dude is strong
How’s a wide grip upright bench press impressive ?
That's a clean & press, lmao. That is proper form.
I’d love to see you snatch anything more than 225. Not going to happen.
I did a muscle snatch once... Is that like accidentally signing up for something that makes me obligated to practice and get good at snatches or something? Lol get over yourself. I don't give a single fuck about Oly lifts.
Becusse you aren’t good at actually lifting lolzzz
Doing a wide grip bench press is not a muscle snatch fagggot
Post lifts boys.
265lb push press
That’s all you need to know, becusse your overhead pressing strength is laughable.
Kinda cute how you didn't include footage. Did I mention my 400 lb strict curl.
I can curl 500lbs, watch out I’m going to the Olympics
Have her to test any recent 1rm
Idk how heavy that is in the grand scheme of things cuz I don't do Oly lifts, but it's heavier than I've seen anyone do at my gym so props dude.
lel the debate over "proper form" is why there hasn't been a press in the olympics in over 40 years.
synthol. not even once.
>that "oly lifter" who posts on /plg/ that he can't stop scraping his shins when deadlifting
WHo wants to train legs today
> that 20yo who works out in tights under his shorts
On the off chance you're still here, I'd just repeat the week you just did. Though you'd be in a better position than I to know how fresh you are once you're over the sickness.
This is owg, that guy posted in plg... dont think he's gona check this thread
Thanks for pointing that out. There was a link here at the end of the /plg/, and I clicked on that assuming it'd be the link to the new /plg/.
I herped a derp.
So how do CJ and Maurus get past the “USADA prevents American weightlifters from doping” meme?
Getting my wisdoms tooth removed today (bottom). Tips?
Gonna start to learn Oly when I recover, did 3h of trying out the lifts in JANUARY.
>wisdom tooth removal
Won’t you screw up your face in the long run?
Sometimes you just gotta get them removed or else the teeth will collide and cause painful issues later
They haven’t spouted for you yet?
It's getting dark spots on it ._.
And I stopped being so obsessed about lookmaxxing after I started meditating, so I don't care THAT much
>tfw no wisdom teeth
never even needed surgery, they're just literally not in my jaw at all
is this why I can't snatch 100 yet
I mean, if you could you'd almost definitely be strong enough to just meme all the lifts and still set records.
i want to see more instagram attention whores fucking themselves up.
265 push press is quite good, but I'd say if you (alec) trained it with your current strict(-ish) press of 2pl8 you could get somewhat close. I personally strict press 180 and push press 235, so i'd say if you learn the lift you could get to the 290 range (might take a few months of learning technique/front rack mobility etc. though)
Do you think it’s possible to successfully teach yourself the clean and jerk and snatch
Yes.
still recovering from ql and erector strain
haven't snatched, cj'd, nor squatted in almost
got back into the gym for some light isolation work just yesterday
probably have at least another week of 'active recovery' to get through before i can start lifting again
feeling real antsy boys
His 3rd rep is fiine
Finally hit a 100kg snatch. Felt amazing. Did also a 90kg power snatch.
I think my tech is kinda good and i don't have to spend much time at all to get better at snatch / C&J. I've been trying to focus on squat strength but fuck, i just suck at squats. Took like 8 months to increase squat from 145 to 155.
I think i have to try some other things than just squats to get legs stronger.
supplement with leg press
what i like about the leg press: it removes the core stabilization component from the lift, so you feel the action of the legs more fully, with less distraction. i know for me, when squats start to get heavy, i forget that the primary movers are the legs, and that the torso is just a force conduit. i start to worry more about back tightness and stability, and end up failing lifts because my legs aren't working as they should.
also, obviously, you can majorly overload the legs with a press machine in a way that just isn't possible with any squat variation.
Woah, just woah. That actually hits home. When i fail squats, i often feel that i lose the tension in my legs and they just don't fire. Maybe "strict" leg exercises help to build some good old muscle mind connection?
When i was a teenager i did lots of upper body stuff, and later when i started to seriously train, i never had any problems with OHP / dips / bench etc. I actuall stopped doing bench press because it god ridiculously good compared to my squat with muuuch faster progression.
I could get a coach for 50€/4weeks. He'd make my program, check my lifts when we are in the gym at the same time, and do form checks from videos. Worth it?
pls dont die while I sleep...
>tfw plg famous
if there are no other people to learn from then yes
Bump
>tfw I don't lift
Post lifts
Guise r8 routine
Breddy gud

What's the safest method for quitting/exiting an overhead press early? I've been successful with a slow increment in weight, but lifting anything heavy above my head/neck is concerning. At the very least want to practice a safe failure.
I just rerack it back onto my delts in a front rack position. I bend my knees and hips to transfer the force of the bar dropping onto me into the ground.
let it drop while stepping back out from under, if severe failure
otherwise just let a semicontrolled drop onto front rack position. Never felt unsafe OHPing myself, currently max 210lb
Thanks lads, I'll give these a try tomorrow.
first meet in two weeks hoping for 100/120kg @94. if i bomb out i will kms
beta, alpha detiny owned you
are you blind or just stupid?
serious question, why compete with these numbers?
Just for the experience of performing in front of an audience probably
signing up for a small local meet gave me a lot of motivation to train seriously. during the prep i set a fuck ton of PRs in all lifts.
otherwise i played a lot of sports in high school and i miss competing i guess
also kind of this
>whats a muscle snatch?
granted its still a pretty shitty muscle snatch
is it gay to work out in tights only?
Are traps gay? Answer this question and you’ll have the same answer.
guess I'm ghey then cause it's aesthetic
I'm so used to the fake one with the amputee, wasn't expecting that snap. Excellent camera work, though.
Anyone else feel like front squats are an unnatural feeling? I am finally wrapping my head around consistent squat technique after many years, but front squats have never felt good or even normal. I also tend to have a little kink in my t-spine that almost looks like a bulge but is doubtless some kind of shitty coping mechanism for my lack of stability.
I also get significant hip pain while unracking from the front rack (this does not happen if I clean it first).
super gay
I do it anyway hehe
Tights? Yes.
Singlet? No. Singlets are manly as fuck. It's what wrestlers wear when they wrestle.
No homo.
Front squats are, relatively speaking, a grossly ineffective way for a human body to elevate a weight on its shoulders. When weights are light, it's easy to do "correctly" with a nice and vertical spine and such. Whenever the weight starts to get too heavy for JUST the quadriceps to move, the body will naturally kick its hips back in order to recruit more of the posterior chain to move the weight. If it's extreme enough, you have to bail as the bar slides off your shoulders. If it's not that extreme, it's just a really shitty feeling front squat.
No idea why your hips would hurt simply taking it out of the rack though.
I could see a really wide stance upon unracking it causing your hips aggravation, but I'm 99% sure you're not standing stupidly wide when unracking it.
nah I can't really figure it out, it's a normal unrack. Hurts more the heavier it gets.
Bump
My ancestors a smiling at me.
can i get strong snatch doing only snatch? i fucking hate squats and i only go to gym to do snatches and then go for some jumprope fuck other exercises
what's your squat atm
fuck, wasn't expecting that one
red
t. cat 2 IWF
what? I press 75 and push press 102. What are you doing wrong in your push presses?
you can get a strong snatch that way.
if you're gonna do only one non-complexed lift to try and become generally strong and fit, then that's one of the best you can do, probably THE best, but don't expect it to help your competition pl performance or to replace a complete full-body program.
for a complexed lift, clean and press is the best.
lel why are all the namefags so stupid?
wait, they're namefags. that answers the question.
in the real world, where the things you lift aren't all weights at the ends of barbells, using the front of the body with weight supported by the torso and hands and front shoulders, and then pushing with the legs, is very very common. so is the clean motion.
just think about grabbing the bottom of a refrigerator or washing machine that's leaning on a truck tailgate, and lifting it up to slide it into the truck. :)
back squats are even a bit overrated when it comes to general athletics compared to front squats. yeah they're marginally better, but not so much as most people think.
are you pressing something with bumpers that you have just cleaned? then exit the same way a failed jerk would.
if you're in a rack, try to lower in a reasonable controlled manner to the hooks or the safeties (which you should have set). in most cases you should be able to just lower it back to the starting position and re-rack, barring catastrophic failure.
what an absolutely retarded chart. Who is ever getting elements 6 through 9 extracted anyway?
serious question; is there ever a reason not to compete apart from being a little bitch?
Bm
>he thinks one should have a total of X before going into a meet
There's no reason not to compete
