Do you understand how much money goes to subsidizing farming? That spending doesn't primarily benefit the people who live where the food is produced, food is cheap there. The money is spent on one state but it serves to primarily benefits those in others, namely more urbanized northern blue states which don't produce much food.

California, Virginia, Maryland, and Colorado for instance are all dotted with military instilations and are huge hubs for military R&D, contractors, logistics companies, and security firms which play significant roles in their statr economies.
