Leg press is for lazy faggots

Is leg press the most useless leg exercises going?

>muh "squats can cause back issues so leg press is safer"
I did some leg press for the first time in a year because i was deloading squats and wanted some volume. did deep leg press, and now my back is fucked. i've entered a mild snapville.

You cannot do a deep leg press without making awkward back pressure. what is the point in them if you have to do such a small range of motion?
On the other hand , i've been doing olympic squats and front squats for 4 years and never had back issues. i lift beltless and over 160kg weekly.

Is leg press literally just a meme lift for people scared to do squats which are mentally hard?

>leg press is safer than squats
I've never seen someone's knees buckle backwards while doing squats.

Didn't even think of that. yeah. if you are having a bad squat you can dump the weight forward or backwards. if you fuck up on leg press your legs snap and the weight potentially falls on your body.

Trains for 4 years, squats 160kg. Really makes ya think about who gives ya tips on the this forum

my max is 180kg, and I'm 5'9 and weigh only 67kg. So i think i'm stronger than your average Jow Forums poster considering i train for strength. i'm familiar with how to squat and despite that, no injury ever. leg press is shit.

Let me guess you squat 180kg, but weigh over 100kg?

Leg press is an accessory lift

Jesus fuck.

I do leg press for high rep stuff hypertrophy because you can get your legs into positions that wouldnt be viable for the barbell squat, just as your feet away from your center of gravity.

It seems to me that you cannot go deep ROM on them witout putting huge pressure on the lumbar spine in particular.
with a squat, that load is distributed evenly along the enture spine and back musculature. With legpress its just pinpointed into the lower spinal column.

Idk, even for an accessory i feel like Bulgarian split squats are way better, or good mornings for hamstrings.

Whats great about leg press? my gym limits it to 260kg max load, if you can squat anywhere near 200kg you can leg press close to 500kg, so average gym you cant even load your muscles enough with that exercise for volume.

Are leg press really that lazy?

I am too lazy to do leg press, too much time/effort to load up the plates. I'd rather just squat.

Also - I feel like Leg Pressing is a risky lift for Inguinal hernia, theres a fuck load a lot of pressure on your abdomen when leg pressing...much more than a squat/deadlift.

>5'9
>67kg
wtf? i'm a turbo manlet 5'5 and i'm 10lbs away from being your weight. squatting is the shit though, hit a new 170kg PR on the front squatty.

weight is an illusion. organs, intramuscular/visceral fat, water, bones.... thats why it minds fucks ppl that i can bench 140kg at this weight

v nice. i actually mostly front squat these days. trying to get to that 170kg front squat myself, but need another 10k or so.

holy shit. that's a decent bench for 67kg. i don't bench anymore, mostly press. are you still lanky looking at that height though?

do both u pussy

thanks man.
my arms are small, but i'm decently bulked out in chest/legs/back/shoulders. powerlfiter syndrome, 12.5 inch arms lol. need to work on more isolation for them desu its quite pathetic.

log term i think i can make it to about 77kg max while lean though so still room to grow.

lmao, sure you do

Those fucking videos have literally scared me off the leg press machine for life. Squats, boys.

I call bullshit on that bench, post pic of your body

This

Whether you fail and the weight all comes down on you, squishing your body in the press, or you lock out and your knees buckle inwards, tearing everything in your knees apart, failing in the leg press is a horrible time.

I have no reason to ever get on one of those literal human vice presses.

i get this every fucking time. i dont expect anyone to believe me anymore lol.

there are plenty of ppl who are way stronger than me on bench at my weight and height, my bench is really nothing.

retard

>squatting for FOUR YEARS
>squats less than lmao4plate

It's not the leg press that's the problem, OP.

no u

wtf, you literally have no muscle except for pecs

I weigh 93kg and squat 240 for reps. I know an 83kg powerlifter, who squats 250.

You'really bragging about being a skinny manlet, retard. Absolutely nobody gives a fuck about who's stronger pound for pound. Absolute strength is what matters in the real world.

lol, try 80-90 kg, more than that ur just BSing

ofc i dont count that 1 PR meme

ye i know i dont. my legs are well developed though.

This is what happens when you fall for the powerlifting builds muscle meme for almost 4 years. Im just hoping with my strength base i can build some muscle faster now.

Get your volume in

nobody is bragging, and nobody cares about your strength in the real world either.
What is important is that you look lean or have a minimum amount of muscle.
only people care about how much you bench or lift are other men in the gym, whether thats pound for pound or not.

I dont know why you felt so triggered to respond like that, mind explaining?
i already said my lifts are nothing special, just what happens when you lift only for strength for a few years. i know plenty of stronger people that make me look weak.

>have a minimum amount of muscle.

You don't. You're the size of a high school kid.

that's called body dis-morphia. I think all the fat people on here call it "twink" to make themselves feel better.

I trian strength, accumulate muscle slowly, and strength slowly, and enjoy the process. i sacrifice making faster muscle gains or faster strength gains by going inbetween both. all around i'm pretty much average for someone who goes to the gym ad i'm happy with that compared to most people who don't workout, it's quite clear i take care of my body when my clothes are off.

anything else is just gymcels coping. either huge ones who got freaky huge and still autistic, or fat strength training guys who need to feel better aobut themselves. only difference is i can admire people who are strong or big, i know whatgoes into it. that is why i settled for inbetween (not strong, but not fat, not big but weak, just average).

that's just gyno

modern leg press machines have several safeties to prevent the weight falling on you
But ofc if you workout at Gary's Gay Garage Gym with a 40 years old leg press...

>modern leg press machines have several safeties to prevent the weight falling on you
Explain more.

Also how does that prevent the horrific lockout accidents.

>are you still lanky looking at that height
lmfao are these manlets serious?

Very simple. The leg press machine has a peg that stops the weight sliding further down on the rail. In some cases it's even adjustable.
But it's still a shitty exercise. I guess the big thing for it is that you can put tonnes of weight on the machine to feed your ego.

i dunno but 1000lb squatters quite like it

Attached: 1504421410800.jpg (480x360, 11K)

The amount of weight there never seems to be used.

It looks retarded.

>Also how does that prevent the horrific lockout accidents
I'm not so sure such a thing even exists without hypermobility in the knee joint. You have to be using an utterly insane amount of weight + have hypermobile knee joints. Basically a non issue for the vast majority of people using it. It's kinda like claiming squat is unsafe because some DYEL unracked 1000lbs from stands and crushes himself to death with it. I've never heard of leg press injuries from non retard conditions.

I've seen enough videos of knees collapsing backwards to never want to get on a leg press machine again.

I've seen a small handful and each time the weight was overloaded and in at least one was due to hyermobile knees and I believe all of them actually were.

leg press is a meme, yes

not exactly a useful motion

No, that's called reality. The lightest guy in my friend circle is still 10 kilos heavier than you and none of us are fat except one guy, but he's 6'3 and barrel-chested so he gets away with it. A man under 80kg is downright tiny.

eh, there are pro fighters that weigh less but still look proportionate and aesthetic as fuck while still being able to win a fight

if your proportionsare shit you shouldnt squat morning to develop your legs hth

I tore my meniscus, but back back before that, I could squat 375. I use the leg press, because everytime I've tried to squat, my knee becomes inflammed and hurts.

Squat is superior, but injury makes me use leg press cause it doesn't hurt as bad as squats

Jesus fucking Christ why did you make me look that up

leg press was good for me in rehabbing a knee injury
let me load up and control a small ROM until i could comfortably squat again

It's okay for getting more quad volume in without squatting and fatiguing your lower back, but even then there's better alternatives.

I have scoliosis with a decent twist in my t-spine, my back is never, ever 100%. Leg press has let me get in progressive quad volume over several months while I attempt to figure out my issues and get some physio.

It's just a useful tool for a certain job. Not every lift has to be either great or shit. Understanding the right exercise for the context and your needs is pretty useful for keeping on making long-term progress, even in the face of injuries and setbacks.

Also, stop leg pressing like its a strength exercise. Work up in sets of 15 to a single PR attempt working set of 15-30 reps, then immediately dropset 1 plate/side at a time, trying to hit the same reps you did on the warmup.

Yeah, win fights against other child-sized "men".

I use the leg press because the gym I go to doesn’t have a squat rack

A. huge head to body ratio, tells me you're short as fuck
2. who was legs?

>4 years to squat 180kg at 67kg
>impressive

Lol

He already admitted he was short at 5'9"

Yes, almost 4 years. started out at 54kg, and intentionally stopped gaining weight about 1.5 years ago to try max out my strength at this bodyweight for powerlifting, (which is wy i am exactly 67kg). I can't compete in Jrs after this year so gonna bulk some.

considering I'm about to take the national record for Bench in the UK for IPF i'm pretty happy with my progress despite Jow Forums trying to convince me i'm a weak DYEL. Just Gymcel cope i think.

Well after training a little less than 3.5 years I have a 240kg squat at 6'2" and 100kg and started out around 75kg so yes I do think you're small and could definitely be stronger.

Wow user, thats amazing. why not upload a pic so we can admire you.

you should compete, maybe you can take some records too thats gota me national record level right?

It's slightly better than you at a younger training age than you, you arrogant twinkshit :)

is there anything wrong with leg press as an accessory to squats with high reps and short ROM?

post body, im honestly interested to see your results. you must look great

Nah I look unimpressive in photos. Regularly get compliments in person though

ok user. if you dont wanna put yourself out there for criticism, maybe think about that when you lash out at someone who actually uploaded in response to someone asking, and only explained his training and never treid to claim to be super strong or built.

itt manlets bragging about squats

Your first mistake was taking anything here seriously.

Most people here who.say "post body" don't even lift, don't humor them.
