Is it true that fit guys will date girls who are less attractive than them because they're insecure?

I dated a girl who was much less attractive than me and I couldn't do it for more than a week. I used to think that pretty girls were worse for some reason, and it is true that less attractive girls usually have a more "interesting" personality. The fact remains though that if someone isn't putting effort into the way they look then there is something up. How you appear outwardly speaks volumes about you as a person and your mental health. The girl I was with was a quintessential "alt girl", extremely edgy sense of humor, impulsive as shit, into weird music, and super awkward.

I would've loved her like 2 years ago, back when I was pissed about my parent's divorce and I was your normal edgy 16-17 year old. Now I'm 19 though, spent a lot of time on my own, had time to figure myself out, and overcame a lot of my own issues. She was still in that mentality of being edgy, hating her parents, acting out, etc. For me that just wasn't what I needed in my life, it sounds shitty but it's true.

It turns out those girls that I wrote off for being too attractive are actually the ones who have it together. Even if they are a mess on the inside at least they can still be fucked to dress nice, maintain a nice figure, and act normal outwardly. So no, I would not date a girl less attractive than me.
