in big cities most people i know usually don't own cars. talking new york and the bay area mostly. places like la and rural areas you pretty much need one. if you've gotten by so far without one then fuck it

It's nice being carless in a real city, but you may not be able to get a gf if you don't come with an automobile. My bf came with Subaru so we can get to some pretty rough places :-)

I live in Toronto so it is often cold or very hot or rainy, but I bike everywhere and folks think its cool and also my tires are always deflated so its hard to pedal, but I have legs of steel now.

It's normal to not have a car in any city older than the U.S.

They're kinda required most places here but there's still lots of places they aren't and it's getting better. Can always rent for road trips.
