Are there any health hazards for the brain to have a very high short spike of Cortisol? I just took this wonder miraculous drug called Ritalin for a few weeks, but recently upped the dose real hard and the Cortisol is way off the fucking charts. I feel fine otherwise. Is this going to give me some braindamage or something?

The day I got my fucking Cortisol tested, I hadn't slept the entire day but I was extremely calm due to my long habit of meditation. I was completely and utterly calm. I did the test at 8 AM, the result was 27 ug/dl, 5 ug/dl more than the limit for someone who would have just woken up and cortisol levels highest. But I hadn't even slept and was not stressed at all, not in the slightest.

Cortisol is the stress hormone. Your immune system will be supressed and you will have anxiety, etc. It depends whether the HPA axis is fully engaged or not, but it's likely your heart may fail. Suck it up and see a doctor fag.

Ok. Here's what I have done. I've told him I have seen this doctor (make up fake name, but you will have to know how to fucking lie and FOR FUCK'S SAKE, LOOK HIM STRAIGHT IN THE EYE WHEN LYING) and I've been taking Ritalin for ADHD all of my fucking life. Say you have no concentration whatsoever, but your doctor just became a mom or travelled and you're out of Ritalin, so you need him to hit you up for a few months or something. Try that.
Or you could just fucking tell him the truth that your life is shit and you wanna try some Ritalin. If you don't get it at first, try another psychiatrist. What the fuck are you, afraid of people? Just fucking try again, who fucking gives a shit?

The cortisol test I did also had other blood tests, including ACTH, which is part of the HPA axis, I believe, and the ACTH was also way higher than it should be. Really fucking high.

Cortisol is what fucks up combat vets. If you keep it too high for too long, you can get stuck in that hyper-stressed frame of mind. This part of the reason why Modern combat vets are getting PTSD at higher rates since Vietnam, because they are stuck in a high stress environment for months or years at a time. Previously most troops would go through a hellish battle for a few weeks at the most and then have plenty of time to rest and refit before the next battle.
