A) a degree in medicine from that specific country
or
B) a work visa granted by a government recruiter in that specific country

I just started a 170k attending position at my residency hospital.
Not only is literally 60% of that going to taxes + loans, I'm also cucked out of another 20% because I need to live close to the hospital for obvious reasons.
I don't like this place, I don't care about the people here and I don't think I can take another shift on-call without murdering someone.
I don't mind working at a pharmaceutical company there or something, they love english speakers that know all the medical terminology and such.

but i have to say that the really long shifts are just inhumane. how do they justify that in the medical world? is there like a shortage of doctors or something? it seems contradictory for doctors to talk about the importance of rest while making residents work for full day shifts. also the lack of respect toward physicians is a real thing though i would argue that educators deal with it just as much if not more. i wonder what caused americans to not respect teachers and doctors like they did before the 60s.
