What do you think about the gay cake controversy?

What do you think about the gay cake controversy?
I think it was a wake up call for everyone who thinks fags are not a problem in society.

Care to bring me up to speed user?

Gay couple go to a store they know is run by Catholics to have a cake made for their wedding. Catholics refuse because they dont support their marriage. Gays sue them so bad they went out of business.

If i missed anything important im sure somebody else will say something.

Disgusting display of entitlement. The shop has the right to refuse. It's the free market. The fags can just go to another bakery. Why would they even want a cake from a bakery that was forced to bake it. Retarded. They obviously just wanted to stir up drama for attention.

Romer v. Evans, 517 U.S. 620, 63 536 (1996)

You should be able to refuse trading with anyone you want for any reason or no reason at all. Wether it be niggers, fags, bitches or any other group you don't want to service, you should be able to not. If the market doesn't like the refusal, the provider will suffer economically. If the market enjoys or doesn't significantly care about the refusal, the provider will not suffer.

>Gays sue them so bad they went out of business.
They couldn't have just sucked it up and went to another place that sells cakes?

Leftists all deserve rope

I actually don't give a shit about the gayness part, the thing that bothers me to no end is the part about forcing a private business to do shit they don't necessarily want to. Just fucking go elsewhere and have their direct competition get your money instead god fucking dammit.

I don't think there was anywhere else they could go

Those fudge packers did it to "prove" that they can stand up to "oppression". Any sane person would go to a different bakery. They did it simply because they are anti-christian, like most of western society nowadays. Would those fags sue a muslim or hindu or jewish bakery? No. No they wouldn't.

Fucking this. The Civil Rights Act is unconstitutional schlock. How can you, with a straight face, say its consistent with this countrys founding principles to FORCE private businesses and employers to gives jobs and services to people they dont personally like? How is that not an attack on the very foundation of liberty?

The original case took place in Colorado which has anti Sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination laws in all counties.
The Supreme Court case was simply the baker arguing how he was incorrectly investigated by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission (CCRC).

>Gays sue them so bad they went out of business.
Don't forget the update now: The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Bakery Owner and the case has been dismissed
The Civil Rights Era is like reading directly from the end of 1984- 'all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.' The two most disastrous political acts of the 20th Century were the CRA in 1965 and the Hart-Celler Act passed almost at the exact same time by the same President, drafted by the same Congress. Fucking traitors, the lot of them

>Civil Rights Era
I meant Civil Rights Act
I'm tired

I don't wanna pick a side

You are allowed to refuse service who have given you cause to do so. What you cannot do is say
>boy I sure hate niggers
and refuse people service based on that alone.

The idea being that people at least deserve an equal chance, idiot.

>>boy I sure hate niggers
That is a cause. You do not owe the federal government a fucking justification of the rationality of your personal beliefs. You do not owe your privately owned resources to anyone.

everybody always goes to the "nigger" example
What the Civil Rights Act does is it forces anyone just trying to make a fucking dime in the workforce to have to cater to literally every single group of people out there, regardless of personal beliefs, which should be paramount. I know it sounds harsh but if a company wants to ban blacks from coming to their store for no other reason than that they are black, the government is in absolutely no position to demand they refrain from doing so.

I thought stores had the right to not serve anyone they want if they wanted to

Its the bakers Fault for saying why he refused to bake the cake. He should have just said he can't do it.

He had to be a social justice Christian warrior tho.

JUST BAKE THE FUGGIN CAKE, YOU BIGOT. OR I'LL GIVE YOU AIDS.

Lol
How do you think society functions bud

Not how it is supposed to.

Thanks didnt know that, not American so didnt keep up with it. Thats why i said someone will say something if i missed it

This
Why would even WANT your wedding cake to be made by someone who despises your very existence? What the fuck is wrong with LGBTTAQ folx in 2018, they weren't like this just a few years ago.

State enforced inclusivity is a tyranny.
People in society should be free to associate with whoever they wish, including choosing who they extend their services as a business to.

Personally, if someone asked me to make a cake I found grossly offensive, a cake with a picture of me sucking a million dicks or whatever, if they pay me enough, I'll put whatever they fucking want on a cake.
I'll put my mother on there jerking me off.
Money's money and cake's cake.

You lose business and money by doing this.
If there's a group of people, say teenagers, who come into your business and through disruptive behavior or whatever cause you to lose money, it should be at your discretion to withdraw from offering them service.

The best thing to keep an eye on with this in mind is the ban on plexiglass counters in some stores in impoverished neighborhoods. Because if I did this and relied on the glass for my protection, I'd just close the fucking store. I don't think that was what was intended to happen, but evidently some people lack empathy. That is, the power to reason from another persons perspective.

>people who don't own property screeching about muh property "rights"
Kek i actually thought this board would be among the least classcucked on Jow Forums
Come to /leftpol/ lads, you will learn

They do, except if it's racially motivated. You can thank Southern states for that, who had the brilliant idea to make segregation the law when it was already culturally on its way out anyway.

An artist should never be forced to compromise on their principals for money.
I've convinced a lot of liberals of this specifically by pointing out that you could now make a case against Banksy for refusing to accept millions from oil companies to make some pro-fossil fuel art.

there's issues with that. it only works theoretically or in very large communities where the discrimination is a tiny minority. otherwise you cause unnecessary and significant issues to the discriminated class to live and participate in society. fact is businesses profit off of society, they are a public service and profit off of the infrastructure and everything else that is set up by society so they do have a duty to provide for everyone.

No thanks, my IQ is above room temperature

both sides are pretty retarded. i get that they are catholic but who cares? the fags were willing to pay for a cake just make it and get some money. But still making a massive deal over cake and some religious assholes is just as retarded.

Attached: 1523060090373.jpg (211x202, 12K)

>implying businesses get infrastructure for free
>implying most businesses don't want to make the most profit meaning no discrimination
>implying there is a right to patronize specific businesses
wew

The gays wanted to have their cake and eat it too.

Attached: 1522675108512.png (487x420, 243K)

the infrastructure they profit off is partly paid by the people they want to discriminate.
discriminating minorities doesn't cut into profits much by definition, dumbass.
absolutely, are you retarded? you think doctors can just refuse patients for no reason for example?
businesses, wether privately owned or not are public services and thus have to actually serve the public. if you don't like that, don't open a business.
also
>thinking low effort greentext is an argument

So faggots are considered a race now ?
I wan't to get off Mr. SJWs wild ride.

No, the Supreme Court decided in favor of the baker because anti-discrimination laws don't cover fags.

They decided in favor of the baker because the prosecution or a lower court or something had discriminated against for being Christian. The ruling was for the circumstances surrounding this specific case, and in no way affirmed the bakers right to refuse service.

Nigger it's a fucking cake who cares.

you may want to rewrite this and elaborate a little more because it isn't easy to understand what exactly you are saying.

I'm the guy he was responding to and yes, it's pretty clear.
Is English your first language?

>Is English your first language?
nope

There are places I'd be refused service because I'm silent and weird at first glance even so nah. Those cathocucks could've just served the fags and be on their way. Don't think destroying their business was any good, though. That's just petty evil.

Go to another cake shop, starting drama over diabetic sugary shit isn't worth anyone's time.

what if it's the only cake shop in the area?

Tough luck, you aren't entitled to cake.

what if it's the only grocerie store in the area? or the only doctor? or any other business in the area? are people not entitled to food? are people not entitled to participate in society? the example with cake is easy to dismiss as it sounds so inconsequential but it stands for a massive issue that people and as such society can face if discrimination like this is allowed.

No, you are not entitled to any of these things. You can always move out if you don't like it. And if everyone everywhere you go is discriminating against you, well have you considered that maybe YOU are the problem?

TLDR gay people decided that Christians are second class citizens and their beliefs don't matter, and the guberment went along with it because they're terrified of being called homophobes in CURRENT YEAR.
