/acne/ general - humidity edition

I have mild acne and happen to live in a pretty humid region (SoCal). I recently went up to the mountains for the long weekend and noticed drastic improvements in my skin. Here is what I know:

>1. The air cool & super-fucking-dry in the mountains.
>2. My sleep hygiene and diet were absolute shit (sweaty, dirty from hikes/sunscreen, and ate a ton of burgers, bbq, ice cream, beer and diet soda)
>3. I would wake and my face would be dry, oil-free and improving every morning.
>4. By day 4, today, my face is absolutely flawless and the last of my zits are dried out and faded away.

All of this leads me to believe a few things:

My geographical environment has had all the effect in the world, while topical gels, oils, lotions, exfoliants, pills, and diet have had fuck-all response to my mild-to-medium tier facial acne.
The clean air, the high elevation of Big Bear,CA, and the dry-as-fuck air has fixed my pores.

How do I replicate this in the musty swamp that is San Diego??

Is this the secret to (my) good skin?

benzoyl peroxide

stop masturbating you dumb faggot

Dehumidifier maybe? Never heard of humidity as being a factor in acne.

It is true that I didn't masturbate for 4-5 days.

>how do i into San Diego

1. Get a dehumidifier. They're like 70-80 bucks. Also get a humidifier for winter (so you can run that bitch--since most houses have heat pumps, during the winter you want to run humidifiers to keep heat in the air and keep your electricity bill low (unrelated to acne, but life tip, etc)).

2. Have 3 pairs of bed sheets and pillow covers. Every morning, flip the pillows if you don't do it at night; every 2 days, swap out the pillow covers for new ones. When you swap out the pillow covers, swap out the bed sheets with fresh set. If you use a comforter or blanket or whatever, flip it. Use one side one night, the other the next night. Get a 2nd set if you want to swap that out.

3. Get some indoor plants. Greenify your place, also the oxygenation at night helps A LOT.

4. Burgers/BBQ/Ice Cream/Beer; keep it light and limit it to social events (go out with friends, go to a party, go to a show, etc), else don't have it. Cut out ALL SODA except for when you go to the movies and get the smallest you can get--if that's a fucking kiddie size, so be it. Soda is a killer, and each "American small" or rest of the world FUCKHUEG size has a staggering amount of sugar. Excessive sugars and fats leads to acne.

5. Get acne face wash bar or solution, wash your face every day. Get a moisturizer, use light amounts and use it on your face after the acne wash. Too much dry skin is bad, too much oily skin is bad; a little moisturized skin is good.

6. Shower once in the morning and once at night, especially if you go to the gym; don't go to bed disgusting.

7. Shampoo your hair with actual shampoo or just soap, just get the dirt, grime and oils out. Do it every day if you gym every day, or every other day if you don't.

8. Drink at least a litre of water a day, try to do 1.2-1.5 litres if you can. Good hydration reduces acne.

9. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.

Factor in ALL of the above and you'll have basically no acne problems for life.

I love you.

Thank you.

just go see a dermatologist

Get a tretinoin prescription its just as good as accutane without all the side effects and it has a bunch of anti ageing benefits

I've done that a lot. With varying success.
I don't want to take Accutane or repeated antibiotic pills.
Retina/Differin have been somewhat helpful but not long term.
I really want to believe that my musty/dank apartment is part of the problem.
The carpet must be 10yrs old.

I had really bad cystic acne a few months ago but i hopped on accutane and desu after like 4 months a majority of the cysts are gone, and im not even on the max dose i can be on. The worst part is that it just dries the fuck out of your face and lips.

I'm happy for you and I hope it works for you longterm. I'm just paranoid about the side effects on hair/liver/kidneys. I want that to be my last resort before kissless virgin mode.

Nowhere near as effective as accutane

>1 liter of water

That's literally nothing. You should be aiming for at least 3.

Also OP, stop using all products and spray salt water on affected areas for 10 mins before showering (use mild soap)

Yeah but accutane is expensive.

Ignore all chemical shills "wash scrub your face 5x a day with these cleaners got"

Get sun
Get zinc
Drink 3l water
Change bedding
Washed towels
Don't use soap on your face more than once every 3 days, when you do don't scrub it.
Don't scrub your face
Cold showers, start by just turning that temp down a bit

Garuntee will fix unless you have leprosy

noted.

starting this routine tonight.

dehumidifier has been ordered too.

Most focus on the soap and scrub part. Tried all the various meme "regimes" and products for pretty much all of last year and did nothing but give inflammation.
Best would be to go swimming in the sea if you live nearby obviously, sun+saltwater really helps make the skin look nice just don't get burnt

>You should be aiming for at least 3.
nah, too much after 2. I knew a guy that was at 3-4 liters a day and lost 50kgs when he dropped to 1,5 ; dude was water bloated.

very nice, thanks

This is what I did and showed impact affects.

>Wash face 3 times a day to remove oil and before and after sleep.
>put a small dab of alcohol in pore areas
>put on a thin layer of lotion if alcohol dried skin to much.

Worked wonders for me and cheap too. Also doesnt require alot work once you get used to it.

stop masturbating all together faggot

>sugar and fat cause acne
how? through which physiological processes?
>bed sheets
What exactly does that do? are you aware that acne happens deep inside the pores and you can't just clog them by touching them?
>shampoo
lol
typical cookie cutter reddit comment on acne, absolutely clueless

Not him, but food plays a part in basically every physiological process of the human body. Especially simple sugars and fat have a profound impact on hormone production and secretion of waste, clogging up pores with sebum which causes acne.

Keeping your bed sheets clean is an excellent way to reduce bacterial contact. As you so astutely pointed out, you cannot clog a pore instantly by touching it, but you CAN transmit bacteria, which cause inflammation and clogging, which cause acne.

Shampoo daily isn't what I would recommend either, but it is vital for hair hygiene. The hair captures a LOT of grime and sweat and whatnot during the day, so keeping that clean is always a good idea. That said, using shampoo daily deprives your hair of essential oils - I'd recommend washing with conditioner one day, then shampoo the next, alternating every day.

With all that said, keep your inane comments to yourself, especially if you're not gonna take the three seconds to research your own stupidity. Also, if you're gonna call other people clueless, do tell how you think it should be done. Don't be an ass.

so sugar and fat raises your test/dht so much you can get acne? like are you saying the hormonal effect of sugar and fat is on par with steroids?
and no you can't transmit bacteria, they're already deep in there, and its only one type of bacteria, p. acnes
what actually works is exfoliating and moisturizing and treating the affected areas with benzoyl peroxide, if that doesn't work then topical retinoids, if that doesn't work then systemic retinoids

Same desu. I'm on 30mg accutane for 3 months and it has done wonders for both my acne and thus self-confidence. I get mild joint pains *sometimes* but most of the time I'm good. A mental side effect that I've gotten is that I feel like I'm a bit more cranky and anxious, but that's to be expected, and frankly, I'll rather go through these hoops than be a perma acnecel. Wish I would've treated my acne far sooner.

go vegan
get some sacylic acid wash
go vegan
go vegan
stop eating fats and oils (go vegan)
get some sacylic acid wash

I just drank green tea and did literally nothing else. It helped a fuck ton. I had no acne for as long as I kept drinking green tea daily.

Insulin spikes are like hormonal imbalances. Sugar causes these like crazy.

I get little to no acne on my face it’s mostly clear all the time but I always have acne on my upper body. Back, chest, stomach, arms, shoulders. Why is this and what can I do to stop it?

Interesting.

Op here. I drink 2 cups of coffee per day. No tea.

>so sugar and fat raises your test/dht so much you can get acne? like are you saying the hormonal effect of sugar and fat is on par with steroids?

user, pls; a single "American small" sized soda drink has on average around 30-40g of sugar. That's INSANELY HIGH for any single meal, let alone a one-time liquid that you'd consume at some point in the day--equally not factoring in any breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner you have planned.

If you drink soda every day, the amount of sugars you are ingesting is more than your body is capable of processing. It converts these sugars into fats, which are then deposited in various parts of your body. As a result, with the build up of these unhealthy fats, blood flow, lymphatic flow, oxygenation, etc, all begin to get constricted. As you grow fat, the lack of vital nutrients to the skin and the proper regulation of the body, leads to pores that become blocked. Furthermore, this viscious cycle throws off healthy hormone balances. Bringing them altogether and you have a perfect storm for an acne outbreak.

Finally, most people who succumb to this vicious circle of unhealthy, saturated sugars and fats, also have shit lifestyles outside of their diet: they don't change their bedsheets, they don't wash their face with acne wash bars/solutions daily, they may not even shower twice a day and more than likely don't frequent the gym if at all.

Every negative mark as a compounding consequence, making the fight against acne more and more difficult.

>what actually works is exfoliating and moisturizing and treating the affected areas

Changing your sheets, washing your face even with just warm water and some light soap, eating healthy foods, limiting saturated sugars & fats, exercising regularly, showering frequently, brushing your twice or more daily, drinking plenty of water, getting recommended amounts of sleep, are all natural, lifestyle factors that you can change to combat acne without resorting to synthetics.

>2 cups of coffee a day

If you must have two, go for darker rather than lighter roasts; more processed grinds have less caffeine. Use milk or creamer, don't be a faggot and think that's weird--instead of abusing your body with caffeine, substitute some of it out for some healthy carbs you get from milk and fill your stomach. Consider using some slight amount of sugar substitute sweetener instead of actual sugar, if you like your coffee on the sweeter side. Else, ignore it.

Ultimately, try to limit yourself to 1 cup of coffee a day in the morning if you can, best to just cut it out and switch to black or green tea. Also, remember that the caffeine molecule is much in coffee than in tea. The difference in the kick is about 3-4x. Coffee excites, tea stimulates; if you have skipped breakfast, have 1 cup of coffee (though you should try to get breakfast in each day), else go with tea.

Good read: teabloom.com/wellness/blooming-tea-caffeine.html

You're going back for that 2nd cup due to "withdrawal", that's bad for you and is basically an addiction--even if you attempt to rationalize it as "well, its only my second cup." Too much coffee will also fuck with your sleep cycle, cutting it out of your life will improve that quite a bit.

I don't have "visible" acne, but I keep having a fuckton of whiteheads on my nose and face. It's back after 1-2 days if I squeeze the pus out. No idea what to do about it.

I had HORRENDOUS cystic acne for years all over my face and body. Went on accutane and I was totally clear after 2 months. The sides aren't even bad, you just get dry lips and that's about it

>2 months
How long did you use it for? I've noticed some people complain about having bad side effects, while some having minor ones at worst. Seems like it's down to luck.

Read this guy his post, the last paragraph. All of those contribute, but drinking water is paramount. Drinking water alone made my acne drop to almost zero. Also, stop masturbating.

>that feel when you've always drank lots of water
>still have acne

Any other anons on accutane? This is my second go around and my face is clear by month 2 this time, but as of now I'm getting the worst mood swings. It's like I have the shortest anger fuse. Any tips on dealing with this? I already try and meditate once a day.

Don't you have health insurance? I did accutane for 6 months at $20 for a months supply

Listen to heavy metal

That's crazy, that's pretty much exactly what I do. I don't know why I didn't think someone else would do the same

PILLS
Or you'll never get rid of it.

>I don't want to take Accutane
why the hell not? that shit's magic and turned my life around.

Fine, enjoy your pizza face. Fucking idiot.

Acne is a factor of diet, lifestyle, lack of exercise, sleep, hygeine, and water intake.

Addressing any one factor isn't enough, you need to address them all and consistently address them. That's it, follow: and And you'll be fine. If you still have issues, see a dermatologist. Their goal in life is to help you take care of your skin. Genius is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. Apply this to your skin, addressing all aforementioned factors is the 99%, and sometimes you need that 1% to carry you onto the finish line. Most people don't necessarily need it, but for some, they do. So go see one, get prescribed ointments or treatment paths, use them, all compounding and you'll be okay.

And don't forget, too much concentrated sugar products and too much saturated fats will lead to bad acne. Natural sugars and fats from fruits and vegetables are fine, but too much of anything is bad.

Fapping/frequent ejaculation causes bad skin.
If you have acne ask yourself "how often do I jack off?" if it's more than twice a month, most likely that's what is causing your acne.
I used to get zits a few years ago, 24 now. Even though I kept my face clean and everything I'd still get bumps that turned into big red zits.
Since I stopped fapping/ejaculating a few months ago, I can't remember the last time I had a zit. Some days I don't even wash my face and I still never ever get acne.

So what, never have sex?

>shampoing twice
>shampoing at all
Why would a corp that depends on your sickness cure you etc.

>t. smelly head bum

>get sun

UV will make any dark marks you have worse

How the fuuuuuuuuck do I combat my bacne lads? My back honestly looks like the aftermath of Verdun, face isn't the worst but it's a bit scarred.
