Martial arts is just a waste of time user. Next time , you better go to gym.

But l go to the gym too.

Boxing, but I'm trying to branch into more advanced stuff. I can't seem to find the motivation.

I did Judo for about 12 years, Jiu-Jitsu for about 2 and boxed for another 2.
Nothing in the past 5-6 years though

Fuck you white boy. Stop appropriating japanese culture.

You're missing out on half of the fun of martial arts if you don't know how to throw people to the ground. Try literally any art that involves throwing and you'll probably get some motivation.

Trained in tae kwon do and boxing. Practiced chu school southern mantis for a few years but never found an actual sifu. I also go out of my way to spar with people I meet or have them teach me stuff when I find out they're martial artists, so I have a little bit of everything.
I need to learn to grapple, so BJJ or judo is probably next. In any case, I've done some kind of martial art since I was 6.

Boxing is a solid foundation.

That's neato. Do you guys have your own style since you have multiple things to draw from?

jiu jitsu for 2 months then i got tired of it.
gym is better

Pls gib martial arts gf

Now: karate. jiu jitsu
Used to:Boxing, Judo

Why do you do kendo OP?

46214902 here and yeah, although I don't get into altercations a lot because I'm a big boy. I have very long limbs so I keep fuckers away via jabs, but if they get in, I favor groundgame with mostly chokes and a few bars.
I unironically had the "bonebreaker" nickname when I was in tournaments, I don't fight pretty

Karate is for pussies. You don't even hit each other.

>Unironically believing this
I understand if you've watched some bullshit karate where they use their mind or tap touching tae kwon do. Kyokushin and derivatives of it, people do hit each there (aslong as you don't go to mcdojos or "kids karate self defense epic class")

Kickboxing and boxing

U can get wheel kicked in kyokushin

None, currently but did some kickboxing and Judo a few years back.
I don't really tell anyone my MA background and people assume im kind of a pushover because i don't talk much. Me and some coworkers were messing around when it was a slow day and were doing some wrestling. Dominated all of them because surprise surprise, outside copying a choke or a lock they saw on tv they had no idea how to properly beat someone with basic grappling knowledge.

"Real" karate is full-contact. Stuff like kyokushin.

Ideally, you'll lift AND do a martial art.

Ah. See, you're the kind of guy I hate fighting. Being able to respond to an infighter by going to the ground makes me have to rethink fucking everything.
I'm mostly a boxer. CMA's get a bad rap, but you'd be shocked how well hakka style meshes with a foundation in just straight-up boxing. Also, I like to bounce and strafe and switch-hit a lot and throw unorthodox punches like backfists. Smolbois like me have to be tricky and fast.

>wheel kicks
Oof.

You can also get wheel kicked from Joe Rogan

ooft

Storytime!
>in tae kwon do
>if you don't bring your armor from home, either you can't spar or you have to use the shitty, ancient armor we have in a locker
>fucking wooden boards instead of padding inside
>dude forgot his armor and has to wear the shitty wood one
>squares off with this one girl to spar
>KIYAP!
>girl spins around and kicks him right in the solar plexus as soon as it starts
>CRACK!~
>she smashed right through the board inside the gear and sent him falling back unable to breathe
>Come to think of it, don't we routinely break these things? What the hell is that gear even supposed to stop?
>dude is on the ground trying to cry but unable to even breathe

>Smolbois like me have to be tricky and fast
Fast people are bad news, even for someone with immense reach. I would probably have to polish up on combinations and legwork if we were to spar. I fear no man on the ground though, my choking's rock solid.
I wish I did more standing armbars though since they can be used to snap bones or fuck over joints. We did very safe practice back then, so it'd be awkward for me.
How's your elbow/knee game?

>I fear no man on the ground though, my choking's rock solid.
That's a good place to be. I'm jelly.
>I wish I did more standing armbars though since they can be used to snap bones or fuck over joints. We did very safe practice back then, so it'd be awkward for me.
That's always the trouble. Half the shit I'd do in a real fight isn't even legal, much less something you'd do routinely just to spar. I'm not gonna throw a knifehand to somebody's neck just to practice it.
>How's your elbow/knee game?
Elbows? Solid? Knees? Not so much. I do have the dubious honor of getting one knee banned in my school's sparring matches, though.

I fear no man might be an exaggeration, obviously anyone with a few years in BJJ or MMA-related sports can show me a thing or two because it's been so long.

Karate, it's been 16 years now. Have you guys done any competition?

Muay thai, gotta love my broken shins

I thought about it but I live in the middle of nowhere and nobody teaches any kind of martial art within 50 miles. Also I'm 25 now so I'm too old to start.
