Hair loss general /HLG/

Anybody experience hairloss and doing something to stop it?

I'd like to have a thread where we discuss hairloss and the methods available to prevent or delay it.

Is anybody on minoxidil? I've been on finasteride for over a year now without getting any sides and all it's done is retain my hair with very minimal growth, I have a thinning spot at my vertex/crown so I feel minoxidil would probably help.

My only concern is the anecdotal evidence out there that says that minoxidil ages your face, anyone have experience with this?

I have a god tier hairline and thick as fuck hair. But I'm pretty sure that's because I have low test. Not worth it.

>that says that minoxidil ages your face
I do
The tour is over buddy boyo

Just shave your head. You can't stop it, you can't reverse it. You've been cucked by genetics. Best to just stop agonizing and move on.

am i the only one not bothered by my hair loss? i keep my hair buzzed short anyway.

That's a dumb normie argument. If you're able to prevent or delay hairloss effectively there's no reason not to.

>If you're able to prevent or delay hairloss effectively

You can't though you poorly coping dumbass.

At the very best you can spend lots of money on prescription and OTC treatments which you will need to use for the rest of your life, all of which have a track record which is lackluster at the very best. If you're one of the few men for which the treatments show visible improvement congratulations on your still receded from normal hairline and enjoy your wallet draining consolation prize. In most cases though you've just wasted money and bought yourself a few years of slower thinning before you go full professor.

Don't listen to this dude OP he's probably a bald cuck trying to maake you as miserable as he is. If you're young and hair loss bothers you by all means fight it. Hair loss is all about WHEN it hits you. One thing is losing hair in your mid 30s another thing is losing it jn your early 20s. godspeed

>My only concern is the anecdotal evidence out there that says that minoxidil ages your face
Minoxidil hinders collagen directly where it's applied (which is why people say don't dermaroll and apply min on the same day), so as long as you aren't applying it to your face for beard gains or something you should be fine.

this

are you sure about this? I'm getting conflicting reports/results/posts when I search online

Question for seriously bald bros (like Norwood 4+): is your scalp thick and rigid? Can you squeeze the skin between your fingers like you can on the back and sides of the head?

I have been reading about scalp massage and weird as it sounds there does seem to be something to it

e.g. x2health.com/can-scalp-massage-really-regrow-hair/

I have seen other studies where collagen bundles (fibrosis) is 4x higher in bald scalps compared to hairy ones. The theory is something like a buildup of fibrosis (caused by DHT somehow) leads to a stiff scalp with reduced blood flow. Extreme scalp massage supposedly breaks down the fibrosis and reverses this problem

I've been doing scalp massages for about 2 months and my scalp definitely feels different - much more pliable and much less itchy. I really dig in with my knuckles with both hands and try to squeeze/pinch the area. Scalp feels great after but not sure about regrowth yet.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

even if it does help, you're just delaying the inevitable

Im totally bald.

Yes the scalp is thick tough skin, it's also actually pretty numb, in comparison to other skin, it isnt sensitive without the hair, ive cut it a few times shaving and it doesnt hurt much.

As long as it looks smooth and shiny then its all good, not wrinkly and spotty.

>you're just delaying the inevitable
thats kind of the point

But I've seen reports of actual regrowth anyway

>Yes the scalp is thick tough skin
I guess you wouldn't really remember but did you notice it get thicker/tougher as your hair loss progressed?

I've read some people on here saying similar things on here as well, that the scalp calcified/hardened/etc and a restriction in bloodflow is the result.

I don't know the specifics or if it's even true, but I think the general idea certainly makes a lot of sense. I don't remember my scalp feeling this tight when I was a kid with lots of thick hair up there.

Try apple cider vinegar cleanse for your scalp
Take a show and wash your hair as usual
After you've rinsed, take apple cider vinegar(must be organic and unfiltered) and mix with about equal parts water
Cleans your scalp with the mixture and leave it soaked in your scalp for the rest of your shower.
It'll sting the shit out of your eyes and any open cuts so rinse off your face and slick your hair back so the vinegar doesn't drip into your eyes.
When you're done with your shower, go ahead and rinse the vinegar out.
It doesn't smell unless you start sweating, and even then it's not all that bad a smell desu.

Minoxidil has made my forehead age like 10 years, and I've only used it for 17 months.
I also dermaroll my scalp, not deep enough to cause bleeding though. After a hour or so I apply minox.
I'm going to start doing a skin routine and see if it gets better.

do you use minoxidil on your forehead?

From this study: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18286292
> It was found that collagen bundles were significantly increased in balding vertexes than in non-balding occiput scalp skin. A near 4-fold increase in elastic fibers was observed in both vertex and occiput scalp skins with MPHL versus controls.

>The theory is something like a buildup of fibrosis (caused by DHT somehow) leads to a stiff scalp with reduced blood flow.
This also explains why propecia only stops hair loss getting worse and doesn't actually reverse it: it stops any more fibrosis building up but it doesn't remove the fibrosis that's already there

Nothing you can do my dude, don't take mino or any of that shit it will fuck with your hormones and libido. Shave it and hope we get a cure in our lifetimes. Besides, there's women who dig baldness and getting fit and growing some facial hair will make up for it.

>Minoxidil hinders collagen directly
>It was found that collagen bundles were significantly increased in balding vertexes

this can't be a coincidence

Yeah because I want to grow another pair of fucking eyebrows.
It probably drips down when I sweat during my workouts, but I still clean my face after. I think it makes you age no matter what, it's only anecdotal evidence but there's a lot of people that report the same side effects.

fuuuuuck

I meant, were you using it on your hairline

Try working at a university and being in your late twenties with balding.

>constantly see young thots and chads everywhere

>chads have full and thick heads of hair and you can see the thots miring them

life is suffering.

born with a norwood 2 here, so far so good, I'm still a NW2 and I'm 31. Does that mean I dodged the hair loss bullet?

most men I see who bald before 40 start thinning and receding by mid-late 20's, and I'm still fine and thick

John?

It's completely fucking random. You can kind of get an idea from family members but at the end of the day you don't know when you're gonna start balding until you start balding

buzzcut and consider tats that minic shaved hair. otherwise, save up for hair transplant.

i will never consider supplements that fuck up your boner

nope

Don't the sides affect only small % of users?

i think ive lost a bit of hair due to really heavy drinking, is this possible?

I dont know what my hairline used to look like so idk if it was always this way

My dad's hair still looks like left and he has been using it for 5 years
Is he doing something wrong?

>i think ive lost a bit of hair due to really heavy drinking, is this possible?
Yes

23years old here. Been on min for almost a year. It helped. I wish I started earlier. I am not happy about my current hair status but at least it went from unbearable to manageble. I initially tried because I felt like I needed to try, so that at least I wouldnt regret it. My face hasnt aged from min use.

where do you use min on?

Someone post the NW2 vs NW4 pic.

Just buzz niggas. But then also must tan and cut

Can you explain how you actually massage ur scalp? Like what do you actually do

From the crown to the front. I always wash my forehead after putting it

>Hairline recedes and crown thins at 19
>All of a sudden can grow thick ass beard and body hair begins growing in thickly EVERYWHERE

Is this DHT or high test or something else I don't know about?

Attached: itsgetsbigger.png (166x203, 98K)

>always wash my forehead after putting it
lmao why

25yr old here and just started 5% minoxidil foam three weeks ago and nizoral based shampoo. Started a minor shed but I'm not too fussed because I still have a pretty decent head of hair.

Noticed my hair was starting to thin a bit after my last haircut and wanted to start slowing or stopping it early before I lose too much.

Every Male in my family is bald so I'm assuming I'll have the same fate if it don't do anything about it now.

Because some drips of minoxidil usually slip there during application

My sides

yah he's old, retard

Imagine you have a piece of paper. You put one hand on one side and the other hand on the other side with a gap between them and press down. Then you move your hands closer together. The paper folds. This is what you want to do to your scalp.

The way I do it is by balling my hands into fists and using my knuckles to press down and squeeze as this gives me better grip. You don't want your hands to move across the surface of your scalp. You want them to remain in a fixed position and your scalp to move.

Pinch the skin on the back and sides of your head. This is what you want the top of your scalp to be like. Keep pinching and squeezing the top like I described above and over time it gets much looser. At first you'll get a load of sebum come out of your scalp and it'll get really greasy. This goes after a while.

I also massage the back and sides too because I feel like this also increases blood flow to the top. Just keep trying out different things with the intention of increasing scalp laxity and blood flow.

Hope this helps

1. Finasteride
2. Derma rolling (or any form of microneedling)
3. Minoxidil
4. Nizoral

>dude just get erectile dysfunction

>t. Bald faggot who's salty that he didn't do anything about his hairloss and wants to bring everyone else down with him

Been on fin for 6 months and horny as ever and hard as ever. Keep fear mongering baldy.

enjoy the dick shrinkage and inevitable ED

you're literally on a hormone that trannies take btw

what's Jow Forums's opinion on topical Onion juice? I've heard that's its really good for the hair and I'm willing to bear with the smell as long as I get good results.

So I've been on the big 3 for around a year and the growth has been good. However I've learned that my ferratin levels are around 30, where they should be in the 100-200 range. I'm getting an injection of Iron tomorrow. Apparently low iron levels cause hair loss and I'm hoping it grows fuller.

not sure, it seems legit but honestly seems most effective when used in conjunction to other treatments

been on for 8 years. my dick works fine, bud.

I've been on finasteride for almost a year, pic related is what I started out with. The thinning spot is still there but not as bad as in this pic.

I'm thinking of using minoxidil twice a day.

I have a concern, say I use minoxidil for 6 months and get good regrowth, do I have to keep using minoxidil forever? Or can I stop minoxidil when I feel the crown has covered up well enough and just keep using finasteride (in other words, if I discontinue minoxidil, will finasteride help me keep the hairs that minoxidil grew back for me)?

On another note, I haven't gotten any side effects. Before I went on finasteride I'd lose enough hair in the shower to clog the drain/force me to unplug the drain and wash it off. Now I lose next to no hairs in the shower or while towel drying my hair.

Attached: before.png (1498x552, 1.81M)

min doesn't "grow back" hair it just speeds up the growth cycles with increased blood flow.

>do I have to keep using minoxidil forever?

I use finasteride and minoxidil and have zero hairloss and have grown back to what I had before I started. If you stop using either minoxidil or finasteride then yes, you will begin to lose hair again. But who fucking cares. It sucks having to rely on drugs and daily routines to keep the hair on your head but the alternative is looking like a sad dad.

5% minoxidil is $18 for a 3 month supply at Walmart and I get 5mg Finasteride for $15 a month. It's worth it for having a full head of hair.

You know what I meant, it appears to make hair grow in areas where the hair has thinned out or disappeared.

I live in canada, fin is cheap but 6 months of minoxidil costs me 70 bucks. Still worth it but whatever.

Do you think using min only once a day is feasible?

Then the answer's pretty obvious no?

I have been using Nizoral shampoo every time I shower, ketaconazole twice a week, and Rogaine every day, twice a day.

The results ive seen are significant where I part my hair, I have actually regrown enough to cover a good 20% of the baldest spot, and the areas that were thinning look thick and healthy. My hair overall looks significantly thicker and healthier. My hairline has actually appeared to grow, and its only been 3 weeks.

I use the ketaconazole shampoo first, let it sit for a minute then rinse. I use the Nizoral shampoo next, let it set for a minute, then repeat with the conditioner. I get out and apply the topical nizoral liquid and then the rogaine, but not too much rogaine, just on the receded hairline (im NW2 with no thinning elsewhere).

Even if it isnt great, and my hairline is still fucked up, where I part it looks noticeably better and I feel better about it. I feel like at the bery least, I halted something, and better yet reversed it, as far as I can tell.

For me, this treatment has worked, and ill be adding a few more levels to it.

Ive heard peppermint oil causes hair growth comparable or better than that of minoxidil. Ive also noticed its an ingredient in Nizoral, as well as many other shampoos that claim to regrow hair. Is there any reason for this? Has anyone else incorporated peppermint oil into their routine?

it's not

I think this is me... never drank, then hairline shot the fuck back right when I started partying. Fuck... it all makes sense now

>dick shrinkage

As you can see, the "erectile dysfunction" (((fearmongering))) isn't working anymore, now they've expanded "dick shrinkage" to their lies

You live close to the border? Just order from American Amazon and ship it to an American warehouse. I do that for a shit ton of stuff from books to camp supplies. American prices are GOAT

I live in ottawa. I noticed american amazon 6 months of minoxidil costs only 20 bucks ffs

Yeah brah. For less than an Xbox live membership you can stop/reverse Being a baldie cuck, sounds good to me. I'm a NW 2 and I'm def gonna hop on the big 3 as soon as I start fin

Aren’t ketoconazole shampoo and Nizoral virtually the same thing?

option A: take questionable drugs and topicals, being insecure and looking at your hairline everyday. Hope women won’t notice it and your insecurity

option B: buzz your head find a girl who likes you despite (or because) of your shaved head

Option B after the first three words will not happen

well im living proof that thats not true

If you're fit buzzed/shaved/bald tends to look pretty good anyway, so who cares? Really only an issue if you're balding really early, like in your teens or 20's.

My hair started slowly thinning at the front a little over a year ago, I've been using Minoxidil since April 2017 and it has not only stopped the hair loss but also returned some hair.

Daily reminder that there is in fact a way to go from norwood 7 to norwood 0 today.

Two Caveats
>1. you have to have money
>2. you have to be willing to wear a shorter hair cut, ideally less than a couple inches on top

How is going from NW7 to NW0 possible??

>The utilization of body hair, there are only a few surgeons that do this so it is not talked about often. Essintially the surgeon would take your head hair and fill in the frontal 2/3rds of your hair and then start blending whats left with your body hair towards the back and crown.

>When cut short this will look just like your other hair and you can sport a dense, well covered, NW0.

>Really only an issue if you're balding really early, like in your teens or 20's.
that's pretty much everyone here
nobody gives a fuck if you're balding when you're 30 and already have wife and kids

>still massive bald temples
tough it's obviously much better

Just threw that picture to show that anything is possible. This guy could get his temples filled in EASILY with a small BHT transplant and be full blown NW0. They would most likely use nape or chest hair, it is very fine in appearnce and most peoples temples and hairline have softer hair

>applying ethanol solution to your face ages your skin
gee shucks

Wealthy people do not waste their time with minox or fin. They can afford top tier transplants.
