So I'm planning to try out for spec ops after college and some parts of the PAST (Physical Ability and Stamina) are pretty tough. 12 (min) pull-ups in 1min 75 sit-ups in 2mins 64 push-ups in 2mins 3 miles in 22mins or less 2x25m underwater swims and a 1500m swim in 32mins or less
The calisthenics aren't too hard I can meet or surpass all of them. It's the swimming that worries me. Any tips on how to crush this test in general.
Additionally any tips for no fap? The longest I've gone is almost a month, but I really need to quit. Thanks for helping guys.
not sure what u mean by that friend, just need some help

Is that really it? Not that much harder than the Airborne PFT. 10 pull ups 42 push ups 60 sit ups 2 miles in 16:00 or less
I would have expected it to be much tougher, but then, it is Chair Force...

Oh, as for the swim: You'll just have to go swim. No ways around it. Nothing really gets you much better at swimming than actually swimming.

I would've gone Navy EOD but mum said its too dangerous. and they dont have ROTC for it at the college sooo

>Swim a fuckton >run a fuckton >ruck a fuckton >get your feet tough and callused >break in a pair of boots >have god-tier cardio >lose all hope of gains and bodybuilder type physique >treat the requirements as the bare fucking minimum, be ready to do several times that workload over the first day while wet/cold/hungry. >master orienteering and map skills now, instead of trying to wing it when you're sleep deprived and cold.
Charles Campbell
>but mum WTF? Dude, do what you want. She doesn't own you.
Aaron Lee
yes, best to listen to mum when it comes to which special forces to try out for.
Evan Perry
these are very low standards for the military, im just surprised
don't prioritize situps, just emphasize your abs during pulling exercises. add leg raises if you want. never do situps by themselves.
train for 800m and 4 mile runs
800m will help w swimming especially
good luck user

that was mostly a joke. but it also has a lot to do with the pay and i need that officer money to pay off the loans

Get your form down pat on swim. Like just hunt down youtube vids and tutorials. The run and physicals are brute strength but swim form is the difference .

The PAST isnt what you need to be worried about It's indoc and the pipeline.
Are you going PJ or CCT?
Hunter Clark
The requirements are just where the lowest bar is set and most would wash out for only making the minimum required anyways

Since we are discussing military stuff here I wanna know what can I do to take care of my knees, planning on going infantry btw.
Nicholas Rivera
Start running in minimalist shoes now. You won't be allowed that in BCT (they do some bullshit arch measurement in Reception and force you to buy a certain type of running shoe), but your form will be better than it would be otherwise.

Join spec ops, then you can ruin your body and your mind and die in some foreign shithole AND be completely forgotten about, all while learning non-transferable job skills so you can start off right at the bottom when you age out at 33 and have to find a new career with your head fucked by PTSD and a smug shitty attitude because you were part of a unit that was shown in a movie once...though you could be one of the lucky ones and get your ass executed by some shitskins in a dusty country so your family at least gets a hundred grand from the army's shitty life insurance instead of the nothing they get after you shoot yourself in some hotel bathroom.
This is always good advice, aim higher than the minimum requirements and practice other skills that you will be needing.

These scores are the absolute minimum that you need to be eligible for a special operations job. You need to hit these just to go to bootcamp with a contract. If you want to be successful in the pipeline you should be able to crush this test and then do another back to back and atleast hit the minimums. The PAST is the easiest thing youll ever do in air force special operations
Daniel Hernandez
dont listen to this retard, practice situps by themselves, youre gonna have to ace the test, which mean you gotta practice it and get a good technique going. and no 800m runs will not help your run, I was a great runner, but sucked at swimming because I didnt swim enough, just alternate between sprints and long swims with no breaks

Train for endurance. High reps, low weight. Don't go for hypertrophy, muscles can drag you down in endurance exercises just like fat.
Also, read about Pavel's Greasing the Groove. There are plenty of videos about it, and it's essentially a high frequency approach to some exercises where you perform sets of them again and again during the day, without ever reaching failure or tiring yourself. Watch his videos during a Q&A for more. This alone will make you kill any of those.

Found the spec op wash out.....

I'm planning on being an STO (officer version of CCT).
