did you get any exercise?
fill up on vegetables that are high in complex carbohydrates and fiber, and low in starch
sleeping at odd hours really helped me. Try sleeping throughout the day and only having 1 or 2 meals at night. Drink lots of water and trick your body into thinking it's food by squeezing a lemon into it.

Because food tastes good so you can't stop eating it
but I do stop eating it because it makes me feel ill if I keep eating
and it is less enjoyable due to diminishing returns.
It makes more sense to maximize enjoyment instead of quantity.

Do you have a job? When I was in highschool we had a slightly more intense PE class which I took. I normally eat nothing when I was at school, so 1/3 is sleep, 1/3 is no eat but work, and the rest I was a fat ass. Still I was losing weight slowly. I loved playing videogames at the time too.
Then during a labourer job it was the same, no eating but more coffee and maybe one sandwich. You just need something to do, you eat because you're bored. Maybe gum would help, but something that works for sure is pacing. I could eat a lot of pizza when it's right near me, but giving myself a slice or two and having to walk across the house/kitchen to get some more doesn't seem like much, but you get full much sooner. I think that's a neat trick (ie eating like a normal person)
You can't just get liposuction or something, because those horrible pictures of extra flesh scare me. It has to be replaced with muscle, which won't be all of it of course. My current dream/goal is bear mode at best. Plastic surgery is an option though, but that takes like 2 years of proper healing. It does work.
