I rock climb, go running, and play guitar.
This is apparently not enough for people, not even sure it's enough for me. Especially because only one of those hobbies am I not limited by fatigue. Still feel like I spend too much time doing nothing.

I train a martial art (bjj), play instruments and make some music, also trying to be more /lit/ but I'm a procrastinating faggot when it comes to reading.
I also watch anime/movies/TV shows but I don't consider those hobbies.

I live in a town where the average age is in the 60s, nothing but grass and trees for miles, I have nobody to visit who isn't 45 minutes+ away, and nothing to do. Nearest gym is an hour drive too.

It's play pretend, with rules and dice, in a fantasy setting. Each player controls a character, and one player is the referee (called the DM in D&D). The main thing that separates D&D (and role-playing games in general) from traditional boardgames, is that the rules are subject to the referee. In-game, you may attempt anything you like, no matter what the rules prescribe, and the referee can roll with it if he likes it.

It's hella fun, but as you'd expect your experience is heavily dependent on the people you play with. You want a referee who knows what to allow and what not, and you want players who can come up with interesting things.

If you are interested in playing 5th Edition is the newest and most widely played. If you live in any decent sized town you should have a game/hobby shop, and most likely they have an "adventure league" game going That's free amd open to everyone. The people are generally super nice and helpful to new players, I suggest starting there.
