Starting strength success stories. Enough with the anti-SS shilling, i wanna hear how much SS improved Jow Forums's lifts
Starting strength success stories. Enough with the anti-SS shilling...
Starting strength is all about getting stronger and not looking lean...
>i wanna hear how much SS improved Jow Forums's lifts
I've done SS off and on for the past 2 years. not the strictest diet or anything, missing that 3rd day most of the time, loads of alcohol and fucked up my knee from squatting narrow but my stats are roughly
OHP: 135 behind the neck 3x5
BP: 275 3x5
Squat: 315 2x3
DL: 365 1x5
@180 bodyweight/5'11.
hoping to get squat/DL up since I widened up my stance a lot, it's feeling a lot better on my knee.
what lifts did you start at ? and why 2 years ?
was a desk jockey for a while, now working in corrections at a men's maximum security.
I think my bench was around 135, ohp was ~95, squat was around 135/DL around 185. I was about 150 lbs when I started because I had just gotten out of a 6 month academy where they ran us into the dirt.
why would you want to be lean ?
why the fuck would the retard in pic related bulk
you cant gain strength while not bulking
i get that starting strength is a STRENGTH program and not bodybuilding
so why the fuck do people take before and after pictures like this? especially ones cutting out their legs which are the only things that grow on this program? Why not just share your lifts, before and after??
this before and after really is just embarrassing more than anything.
that's completely untrue. Even some seasoned lifters can rather easily gain strength while maintaining their body fat
but this guy's clearly a total beginner, he should easily be able to gain strength and size even while cutting.
he's already 20% body fat though lmao
enjoy taking 2 months to add 20lbs to your deadlift lmao
not the guy you're replying to
in those 2 months he will have lost fat while a guy bulking will have gained fat despite gaining more strength and muscle
you're an actual mental retard
ripe gonna dab y'all asses
who cares about fat ? the only thing that matters is how much you lift
*snap*
yep
If I'm skinnyfat and wanna look thin but I wanna gain weight to boost my metabolism so I can eat more and stay thin, is SS and then cut the best thing to do?
Yes
fat cope thread?
Your not pushing hard enough then
you have to be fat to be strong
>Pressing three times a week
>Arms won't grow on SS
Dafuq
that's the spirit son
Staying sub-20% bf allows for better nutrient partitioning. Beyond that, fuck if I know. Most of Jow Forums doesn't lift and just wants to chase thots who give a shit about their twink 'physique'.
The biggest lesson everyone on this board could stand to learn is that fat is easier to lose than muscle is to gain and that unless you cut on a massive surplus and stop lifting altogether, you lose very little muscle on a cut.
Is it bad that I kinda want him to get hurt and do a massive cut like Zydrunas did?
Dude's probably pushing 300lbs shredded
pressing wont grow your biceps, or your triceps that much
if you want to actually grow your arms you need to isolate them and do lots of high reps and lots of sets
I can't image I'll look the same as when I started with a 95lb bench and when I hit 2pl8. 155lb bench now and pecs are definitely a little bigger.
This guy is awesome!
Dude all I want is for z hall that guy you were talking about and Shaw Tobe the wrecking crew in a new Spiderman movie
none of those guys can deadlift 6 plates
but they can lift a thot with their third leg
False.
I am currently doing SS, but I don't care about actual strength, I am lifting mainly for looks. Any other starter programm than SS/SL to boost muscle volume?
I know someone else already said this here but what is the point of this picture? You look the exact same man. Post your lifts, that'd be better.
SS is not for looks. It's for strength. So you'd be using the wrong program. But you can't train hypertrophy as a newbie. I tried and it stopped working very shortly.
I suggest adding some accessory hypertrophy lifts to your SS. Do them at the end of each workout. Have them be isolation exercises, high reps (8-12), like curls.
why the fuck did you get shorter.
>I suggest adding some accessory hypertrophy lifts to your SS.
Not him but which ones?
I don't understand this
how are people benching sets 1.6 times their body weight without steroids
Let me give you an example. I am doing a 5-day program, and day 1 is chest day, but I only do strength training.
At day 4 I do one hypertrophy bench press. Which is just a normal bench press, but I do 8-12 reps instead of the usual 4-6. I also do hypertrophy triceps curls. Not sure what you americans call the exercise where you pull a rope with your biceps but that one is a good candidate for hypertrophy too. Other than that it depends on what you want to grow.
Not on SS but SL, with dips and chins added. I'll do some arm Isos on Fridays workout at the end.
Currently lifting
142kg 3x5 squat
155kg deadlift 1x5
105kg 3x5 bench
70kg 3x5 OHP (I'm just fucking fantastic at them, idk why, kinda like why am I shit at deadlifting).
107kg row 3x5
Chins 3x8-10 BW
Dips 3x5 weighted with 30k attachment
Eyeing up madcows as the weights fucking kill me, if I miss my Cal's or don't get enough sleep for 1 night my session is fucked for days.
I lost my abs but I got fucking strong, about 19% bf with calipers. My back is wide and my gf is obsessed with my ass and fondles my arms when we go for a walk.
Most guys in my situation would cut or go pplppl but I'm gonna stick to a day 3 template, never gonna compete, just easy to follow.
Sure if you're on roids
lmao
t. fatass
>Rear delts
>Triceps
>Lats/Mid Back
>Hamstrings
>Lower Back
I would suggest
>Rear Delt Flyes
>Barbell Rows
>Goodmornings
>Hammer Curls
Do your rear delts and Barbell Rows on your press/clean day
Do your Hammer curls and Good Mornings on your deadlift and bench day
>arms don't grow on SS
>the only way for them to grow is to actually train them enough
>YEAH BUT THAT ONLY WORKS IF YOU'RE ON STEROIDS
your brain on rippletits testicle juice
Just do the old school 20 rep squat routine
Can recommend super squats
