I don't even know what that shit means. Math is so autistic.

>math
>autism
?????

It's 8-9th year algebra. I'm a brainlet adult relearning all this stuff

Attached: screenshot2.png (344x267, 7K)

op is in hs, 9th grade

>Math is so autistic.
thats highschool level math you dumb cunt

Nope, I dropped out of high school years ago. I learned math up to derivatives but I've forgotten most of it. I am going to complete first year calculus by the end of the year. That's my goal.

Math is just stupid. y'all autistic.

>y'all
hello tumblr

>I'm a brainlet adult relearning all this stuff

All that counts is how fast you gonna relearn it.
It's about your capabilities to understand the concept, memorize it and then apply it.

trips of truth

Im on summer break from college just took trig and I had to look at this twice.

I always get A's in math so its fine if it takes you a sec to process something. Generally speaking I'm a "slow" thinker when it comes to this stuff, and thats perfectly ok. I was reading a theory somewhere actually that a lot of kids that are "slow" thinkers might actually be really smart but dont do well in the current math education system in america due to how america looks at math as something that should be done with speed rather than thought and deep understanding.

root12 = root (4*3) = root4 * root3
root4 = 2

=> 3a^3 * 2 * root3
=6a^3 * root3
are you actually this fucking dense OP?

also it's better to think about roots as powers of a half
so root4 = 4^(1/2), then you can apply normal indice laws: x^a * x^b = x^(a+b) etc.
it's not hard man

>Generally speaking I'm a "slow" thinker when it comes to this stuff
No you're just stupid

>root12 = root (4*3)
top kek, how did I not realize that

you misunderstand what that means but ok.

Most mathematical scholars are slow thinkers. It has to do with understanding concepts versus memorization and memory recall, the later is how most american school children are taught to do math.

do you need help with anything user? i'm a math tutor and this kinda shit aint too bad for me

GL. I remember being brainlet at math. But I learned all high school math material in one summer because I was worried that I would fail my math exam.

They aren't slow, its just that the concepts are so large they take a large portion of time to work through. Give this kind of maths to any math scholar and they'll be able to work through this instantaneously. Stop trying to make yourself feel better by equating those better than you to yourself on the basis of "being a slow thinker".

It's literally the opposite of stupid. If you can't do math, you are NOT SMART no matter what you think about yourself. Even if you have dyscalculia.

What a retarded statement. Anyone can learn math. The problem is you have to be taught how to decipher the stupid autistic math scribbles. I really cannot be bothered with such autistic nonsense.

>Anyone can learn math
No they can't, which is the point.

>They aren't slow, its just that the concepts are so large they take a large portion of time to work through.
oh wow look you do understand but at the same time you don't.
I think its retarded.

Your statement is bullshit.
You are implying anyone has the capabilities to become a math professor.

> Anyone can learn math.

What a vague shitty statement
Sure, almost anyone can learn elementary school math.

>No they can't, which is the point.
yes they can, most people just don't try. Its like body building but for your brain. Do you expect to just instantly get big muscles? No. You have to work hard and exercise that shit.

Well thats what you need to do with your brain to learn math. Anyone can do it, most people are just lazy and don't.

>You are implying anyone has the capabilities to become a math professor.
Yes, anyone can, if they really wanted to. But they don't because they are lazy or uninterested in math.

i look like I should be somewhat smart but I'm horribly braindead

You sound like a pretentious gifted kid, who likes to attribute his success solely to his own efforts and thus stupidly try to sell statements in the line of

>You can be anyone you want to be, just try

Such arrogance, but rest assured, you are no exception. It's typical behavior.

Shut up you stupid idiot.

Ive never learned this in high school

"System 1: Fast, automatic, frequent, emotional, stereotypic, unconscious. Examples (in order of complexity) of things system 1 can do:
see that an object is at a greater distance than another
localize the source of a specific sound
complete the phrase "war and ..."
display disgust when seeing a gruesome image
solve 2+2=?
read a text on a billboard
drive a car on an empty road
come up with a good chess move (if you're a chess master)
understand simple sentences
connect the description 'quiet and structured person with an eye for details' to a specific job
System 2: Slow, effortful, infrequent, logical, calculating, conscious. Examples of things system 2 can do:
brace yourself before the start of a sprint
point your attention towards the clowns at the circus
point your attention towards someone at a loud party
look out for the woman with the grey hair
dig into your memory to recognize a sound
sustain a higher than normal walking rate
determine the appropriateness of a behavior in a social setting
count the number of A's in a certain text
give someone your phone number
park into a tight parking space
determine the price/quality ratio of two washing machines
determine the validity of a complex logical reasoning
solve 17*24"

Well, there are only 2 possibilities going from that statements of yours.

1. You are trying hard to troll

or

2.You are a totally deluded self-righteous idiot making the most idiotic kinds of statements and even believe in them

youtube.com/watch?v=p_Hqdqe84Uc
That video at the most extreme end of the bad end of the spectrum. Pic related is someone at the extreme end of the other side of the spectrum.
It's not like muscles, it's more like height. You have an upper limit and no amount of eating more will get you past it, but not eating enough will stop you from getting it. In fact, there are limits to your muscles as well.
But tldr: no, not anyone can learn math. Some people are literally incapable of doing arithmetic on their fingers. It's a spectrum.

please see
>Its like body building but for your brain

I can't take you serious.
Even trying to compare the brain to a normal muscles.
God, I hope for your sake that you are just some underage kiddo.

I am not gifted at all. I worked hard to achieve my mathematical knowledge. I continue to work hard because I can only continue to get better. If I don't keep working at it then my muscle (brain) will grow numb and these concepts will slowly be lost to me.

I used to be horrible at math, and I hated it as do most people for some dumb reason, but then I decided one day I was sick of not understand and I worked hard to understand it. Granted this was a long time ago when I was young but still, it can be done. More recently I've taken on the task of being more healthy and physically fit. I've no idea what I'm doing because im not a fitnessfag but alas I try because thats what I want, to be healthy and fit, and not be at a loss of breath after a short run.

Exercise the body and the mind. It is the only way to achieve peak human ability.

The language we use to describe mathematics is something to be learned yes, but beyond that your innate sense of logic should shine through, once you get to the higher levels of mathematics notation is simply a tool for the mind to express itself freely, an explicit method of conveying ones thoughts in a beautiful and universally understood manner. One could explain the same mathematics in a alternate manner, but it would not be with the same grace as that which used our current method of mathematical communication.

Ok friend.

The whole reason most people get into STEM fields is because one is judged solely the quality of their work and nothing else, something rarely found in our current society. The effort you put in is directly proportional to your success, that's the whole point! You can shift blame to your socioeconomic background, upbringing or lack of gifts - but those only get you so far - one can achieve greater things than those with a better starting hand, you just don't want to put the work in and that's on you.

>determine the price/quality ratio of two washing machines
A:B, divide by HCF
>solve 17*24
(17 * 25) - 17 = 408

Really man you're clutching at fucking straws here, everything you listed in relation to maths takes absolutely no mental effort at all.

The brain is literally a muscle. It's the most complex muscle in our bodies. I hope for your sake you are still in grade school because you demonstrate the knowledge of a black pilled 9th grader.

>absolutely no mental effort at all.
you should really read the book and the studies on this theory. It's not that these things take mental effort, it's how the mind interprets them. I really would rather not sit here and baby you through a simple scientific theory that you can read about on your own, that has been studied for years. I encourage you to do your own research. And I hope that one day you will understand more than a basic childish understanding of the mind and body.

>autistic math gremlin thinks his stupid math scribbles are graceful
LOL

I already showed the truth with this post. Why are people still debating?
The proof is elegant, the symbols are fine.

How can you comment on these things if you've never taken the time to learn and apply the mathematics - but no, you read a couple of theories and think you know how everything works and the proceed to condescendingly tell me to do my own research.

Ok friend.

what's the problem with pic? sorry if I'm being dense or something
high school? we did this shit when I was fuckin' 12-13 years old
big truth
laziness is a huge factor but missing out on a few things (topics or whatever) can also be the root of the problem.

>one is judged solely the quality of their work and nothing else

Yes, and the work is limited to various factors, factors you cannot influence.

>The effort you put in is directly proportional to your success

Ah, sure, that's why many scientific discoveries were made accidentally and so many profs around the world are just too lazy to tackle the Millennium Prize Problems, otherwise they would have all been solved already....
Your effort will only get you so far, right back at you.

> one can achieve greater things than those with a better starting hand, you just don't want to put the work in and that's on you.

Yes, if the ones with the better starting hand put way less effort into it and have way less luck. But that's bullshit.
The successful ones have it all, that's why they are successful to begin with.
I repeat myself, it is sheer arrogance to the point where it is moronic to reduce your success solely to your effort.
But luckily enough, the real successful ones, which is not you, acknowledge they are gifted, had luck and the right environment adding to the their effort.

Seriously I start to believe that some people even believe they can fly without any help if they just try hard enough.

I've got to agree with e^(i*pi)=-1 is all well and good, but what the hell do you do with it?
Remember, although mathematical language is designed to fit the constraints that it deals with, the ultimate application of that math is what matters. Sometimes, it's better to use a fucking stickman and some arrows.

It's not elegant. It can be interesting to a degree, but when you go full math gremlin and start scribbling your little symbols in an autismal fit to "prove" some nonsense like 0.999..... = 1, then you just a confused little autistic hobgoblin.

Don't be obtuse. Proving anything can yield interesting logical conclusions. Why shouldn't .333...+.333...+.333...=1?
The problem is communication.

>How can you comment on these things if you've never taken the time to learn and apply the mathematics
I'm very sorry that you think of me that way. I actually have a minor in mathematics. Math is my favorite subject. The theory of the 2 systems in our brain is one I've been following for a number of years as I find it interesting and am curious to see what follows it.

>Why shouldn't .333...+.333...+.333...=1?
It's autistic nonsense. Decimals cannot possibly continue on forever.

>The brain is literally a muscle.

Gets me every time, though it is getting old.
I have flashbacks of countless times I have read this trolling posts over the years of my imageboard career.

Attached: smug.jpg (1280x720, 117K)

>the ultimate application of that math is what matters.
No, pure mathematics is much more important than applied math.
Also, eulers identity is used in engineering and many things involving complex numbers.
It is VERY elegant when it's a good proof.
Also, .999999... = 1 is not nonsense, it's an amazing result of the real numbers.

okay so not only do you not study math, you're a fucking finitist. gtfo

Looks like I've enraged the troglodyte.

Everything is nonsense if you really want to get down to it, but we're trying to have a conversation.
.333... is the decimal representation of 1/3.
>pure mathematics is much more important
That's what you math guys like to think, but people still find ways to apply all of that heady stuff in the real world.

>Also, .999999... = 1 is not nonsense, it's an amazing result of the real numbers.
I don't know in what autistic world what you said makes any sense.

You're the fucking troglodyte for being stuck in your fucking only Q shit go back to jerking off to Wildberger videos
>That's what you math guys like to think, but people still find ways to apply all of that heady stuff in the real world.
That's fine. Pure math is still the best.

>what is a decimal?

Attached: ayadww.jpg (1242x1290, 64K)

>Yes, and the work is limited to various factors, factors you cannot influence.
Sure, but it's not the be-all end-all of any career you want to pursue.

>Ah, sure, that's why many scientific discoveries were made accidentally and so many profs around the world are just too lazy to tackle the Millennium Prize Problems, otherwise they would have all been solved already....
Luck plays a factor of course, some people may go through life making less important contributions, but still their contributions are used for some people and that makes their effort worthwhile, being a popular mathematician is nice and all, and so is winning awards - but in reality it's just a tiny bonus that means nothing to most at the upper echelons of any field.

>Yes, if the ones with the better starting hand put way less effort into it and have way less luck. But that's bullshit.
No-one is saying background doesn't have in influence, but you're a fool to say that only those with the better starting hand at life can achieve, may I direct you to: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srinivasa_Ramanujan

You can either whine about your background for the rest of your life or get the fuck over yourself and strive to make a difference, it's the hardships that we face in life that shape us as people - you can either let that consume you and be bitter at the world for everything that's happened to you if you want, but absolutely no-one is saying you can't do something if you want it enough (in the context of this discussion before you go strawmanning).

I'm successful in my field and have achieved enough so far that I feel comfortable with myself, I don't feel the need to become the next Einstein, sure it'd be nice and I'm sure a lot of people aspire towards it, it's just not a realistic goal though is it, and sure, if I just so happened to turn out that way I'd be glad. Stop being so spiteful and accept you were born as you are, just get the fuck over it.

this helped me user
thanks

As long as you admit that you're just pretending to be useless.

>Everything is nonsense if you really want to get down to it, but we're trying to have a conversation.
What a stupid contradictory thing to say. Nonsense are all the things that can't be understood. If you can understand something it's not nonsense.

I don't know what you're trying to tell me in your gremlin speech.

It makes perfect sense.
No, pure mathematics is superior to applied "math" i.e. plugging numbers into formulas that we prove without knowing shit.
I'm saying your only rational number bs is wrong get over it.

At the root of every system of logic lies an unsolvable paradox. The reasons for this can be explained by Goedel's Incompleteness Theorems, but essentially, it means that all communication is manipulable within its system to be self-contradictory.
Put that in your crack pipe.

It's wrong to want things to be rational? Okay autistic math gremlin, I'll trust you. NOT.

Attached: pepeshart.jpg (492x493, 50K)

Rational numbers are a subset of R it's nothing to do with things 'not being rational' in the sense you're thinking

The only nonsense here is your post. Did your mamma drop you on the head as a baby?

Not knowing shit is the best. You can just fuck around and get shit done because some nerd figured out the hard stuff.

I'm sorry that you are jailed in a system that you have defined for yourself.

There you go again with your gremlin speech, expecting me to know what you're talking about.
How can a decimal go on forever? It can't. It's nonsense.

>believing everything someone says immediately after you said it'd piss you off
pretty grim mate.

Attached: christ chan smug.png (718x826, 249K)

You're not sorry. You a weak ass bitch who can't say what you really mean. On top of being stupid. O u c h .

You need to learn how to construct the number systems and then you'll understand

Even more autistic babble. It's not enough that you can count. To understand numbers you gotta understand my autismal nonsense.

It's some sort of pity. I'm not saddened by your insults towards me, I'm saddened because I know that you wouldn't be able to think of them if you had never heard them, yourself, and internalized them.
The jail is a metaphor for your mind. You can open it at any time and be free.

It's not autistic babble it's how the numbers work once you construct the different sets you'll understand.

just try dividing 1 by 3 on a piece of paper
after around 10 seconds you'll see a pattern

I am not even reading your post at this point. It's too unintelligent for me.
You gotta be more humble and realize that you're full of retarded nonsense that you need to unlearn.

to be fair you have to have a high iq to understand dropping your chicken in a fire.

Attached: fire_extinguisher.jpg (256x256, 22K)

no u faggort

Attached: Not quite this gay.jpg.jpg (504x360, 101K)

>just use my autistic nonsense and you'll see, you'll see

>how numbers work
Numbers don't work idiot. If you wanna think straight you gotta speak straight. Capische?

It's not autistic nonsense, dude you'll see that there is no bijection between R and N and you'll experience the uncountably infinite beauty of math. Just try it out man, you won't regret it.

Thou art Gaye

Attached: Skeletor Gaaay.jpg (265x207, 34K)

If it can't be counted to, it's not a number. Sorry not sorry autist.

Yea no, that's not how it works at all.
Here's the classic proof everyone does first to understand:
Show that the square root of 2 can not be written as a rational number

Yeah, I'm pretty fucking stupid. Can't say I accepted it, but I'm living one day at a time until the day I die. It's not that big of a deal. I'm just considered worthless in a society where worth is tied to intelligence.

so f.e. 1/3 is not a number?
what the actual fuck...

Attached: is-diz-bait.jpg (329x329, 7K)

Wow I didn't think this thread would be interesting but I've learned about anti-math autism, fascinating
Just because you can't understand a thing doesn't mean said thing isn't true

That isn't how it works in your autismal tautology. That's how it works for non autists.

Who cares if it's true or not? It's fucking shit.

I mean you're right, but you can write 1/3 as a rational decimal expansion in a different base system. This isn't true for a true irrational number like root2 or any other normal number.

No, that's how it works objectively in this universe, as well as the platonic realm.

If you divide 1 apple in 3 you now no longer have 1 apple you have 3 partial apples. The partial apple is in itself a 1, example: I have 1 partial apple.

Again I will ask you,
Prove that root2 can not be written as a rational number.

>the platonic realm.
The stupid Arch Autist Plato. Of course a moronic autist like you would admire your fellow autist.

Its not autism, it's the truth. The platonic realm is real and math comes from it.

You're totally absored in your autistic gibberish. You want me to prove that the square root of 2 cannot be written as a rational number?
What does that have to do with anything?

Where is the "Platonic Realm" located?

i got taught at school that aboriginals had no sense idea of numbers or counting, they just had one thing, two things or many things
even as a kid i saw through the bullshit my teacher taught me about how that is equally valid as our own number system
you're literally at abbo spear chucker tier intelligence, congrats
