This really is true if you’re going really low but I agree, land whales are rarted and don’t know how to diet. Fasting can be good in specific situations but losing weight isn’t one of them. There’s a fine line between dieting and fasting and you want dieting for weight loss

I've been training fatties utilizing fasting for some time now(13-ish years). Invariably they always balk at the idea of fasting. But they come around.

The biggest impact by far is how quickly it seems to correct unhealthy food cravings. Out of the two dozen fatties I've trained, only two started drinking soda again after the first successful two week fast. And both of them substantially cut back, and eventually quit on their own accord without any chiding after subsequent fasts.

I've personally seen 18 diabetics completely reverse their diabetes. These were fuckers who either knew they were diabetic or were completely ignorant to that fact until I made them get health tests before we started. And it wasn't that they lost the weight and the diabetes reversed concurrently, it was: "hey you're still a fat piece of shit who gasps for breath going up four individual stairs, but you now have a normal post-prandial glucose response."

What kind of fast? Water fast, intermittent fast, skipping a meal?

It depends on the fatty and where they're at in the game.

If they're diabetic, have high blood pressure, out of control cholesterol, or high basal insulin, I'll try to get them to commit to a two week on/off cycle of fasting and feeding. Two weeks fasting two weeks feeding.

As those conditions improve and it becomes more about weight we'll get a schedule they can work with. I personally like to limit the fasts to 2 weeks maximum as long as they're eating good and hitting the gym with me hard on feeding weeks. On feeding days I aim for an 8 hour feeding window max.

Some of them do well on two or three consecutive days a week, and some do better eating every other day. The oldest gal I helped was a grandma in her late 60s who ultimately just went with the whole "fasting for Jesus" bullshit. With some dietary changes to whole low-carb foods only, and fasting on Wed and Sat she's doing great.

There isn't a one size fits all approach. I work with what they have and can manage. The hardest part with these fatties, after convincing them they can go without food, is to stop all their old habits from previous dieting efforts. I don't want them counting calories or points because that's not helpful. I want their attention on choosing healthy foods and eating to satiety.

You'll go into starvation mode and your metabolism will change so you'll gain weight by eating anything at all. You need to eat every two hours to Stoke that metabolic furnace.

What is your diet like?
As much as those morons in /fast/ want to think it's some sort of miracle, it isn't. If you eat enough calories for maintenance then you won't lose weight. I eat only two meals a day and fast one or two days a week and my scale will still creep up 1lb/month. Why? BECAUSE I'M EATING TOO MANY FUCKING CALORIES! So, when it adds up to 5lbs, I do an extended fast for 4 or 5 days, and use that cleansing period to drop 5 grams of mushrooms.

You weight is stuck at 219? Fast more, or eat less. Your fucking choice, it's not rocket science dumbass.

the wife wouldn't eat them. I pieced out 6 of them, and left two whole. the two whole ones I roasted and seasoned like a chicken. I had a hard time finding a difference between it and those rotisserie birds. my boy says he could tell, but he liked it.

i grilled up a bunch and fried some up. so far im impressed how good it is. surprised by how not-so-gamey it is.

That's normal. You've been so far removed from your food that's a perfectly healthy response. Just remember this one thing. You raised them, you helped look after them, made sure they were taken care of and well fed. As a result of that care and attention you get to take care of your family and ensure they're getting healthy, ethically raised meat. Every lb of meat you raise yourself is a whole shitload of ecological pressure eliminated.

I was raised on a working farm, grew up working in grand dad's butcher shop on the weekends. Practically my whole life save college and five years as a mechanical engineer has been around raising animals and slaughtering them. So I'm not shy about my food.

I can't stand gamey meat. Not deer, not boar, not wild rabbit, nothing. Just something about the flavour and texture.

I converted half the shed into rabbit hitches there's room for 4 more cages. although I might now put chickens in that space and build a run next to the shed.
