today a guy came up to me and asked me what I was working towards because I looked like I was working really hard
man that felt good, what a lad
what about you guys
Nicest thing someone has said to you at the gym
>keep up the hard work. It's worth it, trust me
-some milf
I'm not in good shape, but I exertion mog almost everyone at my boomer gym.
there’s something that feels really fucking good about going hard as fuck in the gym
it’s like a competition between who you want to be and the little bitch inside you
also the exertion mogging is a bonus
>hadn't been lifting more than a year
>doing dips with added weight belt
>older guy that was there all the time
>saw me, and walked over
>"keep doing what you are doing, it's working."
>have me a fist bump and walked away
That gave me more motivation than anything . He was jacked and seemed alpha. That was years ago.
>the guy who sells roids in my gym told me he was mirin my weighted pullups (because no one else in my gym does them and I reached 1pl8 for reps)
>feels good man
When I was 19 the same thing happened to me. He also brought me some water, kinda sweet. He was flaming.
When I was a fatty no life 4 years ago me and my fellow fatty friend started at the gym and I made him do some ridiculous Dorian Yates program I googled and make him do extra sets to failure just because the hurt made me feel better about being disgusting. One day large roidey black man complemented my hard work.
>me and fat friend doing machine shoulder presses to failure
>friend is nearly dead wants to go home
>I say do another set and you can leave
>I look him dead in the eyes and say "we can't keep being fat for fuck sake come on!"
>big hearty black laugh behind me
>steroid black man walks up to me and my friend and pats us both on the back and turns to my friend
>Hahaaa you are lucky dis is a bad man right ere (Jamaican as fuck)
>get called a bad man by a big Jamaican feel like he passed on some test through his pat on the back
>me and my friend do another 2 sets feeling cool as fuck.
lol strong this
I was working on my weighted chinups and the weight increase is insane (2.5kg a workout) and soon I was doing 2+ pl8s. The mires were amazing.
thats a nice story man
hows the weight going?
>It's like you're trying to rub your ass on the floor bro
-some dude commenting on my squat
>A few days ago
>Finish my cardio using a skipping rope not soon before the gym is about to close
>Walking out when the only other guy there comes up and says “you’re pretty fucking shredded man”
fuark
that would truly be an honour
Very friendly guy too always talked to me and my friend after that.
Now I'm a Lot fitter and my life is completely different it's weird. Gone from a shut in fat gamer too I guess a normie with a job and house and girlfriend. I went from 380 to 225lbs in 2 years years then went back up to 290lbs working as a bouncer and being lazy with the gym but at the minute I'm 240lb with a bit of loose belly skin but happy with my body and my life. The main thing for me was social gains used to have crippling anxiety and now I can talk to anyone.
Also I'm 6'5 so I can get away with being 240 and still look normal. Also got 530lb diddly but can't bench 315lb at minute my bench sucks but have done previously.
Nice man, i was the opposite. Completely anorexic skinny twink to putting on some mass finally, feels good to be happy in your body
You actually talk to anyone at the gym beside "is cage/bench free?"?
>thanks for spotting me bro
i don't interact with other gym goers often
Some bro came up to me once and said my progress was inspirational
>Hey did you forget your phone?
>Uhh I don't know, maybe. Yeah, thanks. I appreciate it, thanks.
I was waiting on a call back from an interview and I would have been in a panic when I got home.
His lifts were my warmup but my social gains were his warmup.
Did u go from a complete fatass?
Where are all these fucking Jamaican gym angels I keep reading about? Do they only show up when you truly need them most
300 pounder here was doing assisted pull ups, some guy walks up and says good shit.
I did an hour of cardio, 20 mins of each machine they had, 2 workers say “putting in work huh”
Brah has a dog? Now I like him even more.
>eats interesting and historical foods
fucking kek
sage
Hey dude, where do you buy your protein?
>I don't
People mire, it's how I first started to get into them. I feel bad because the dip station is right beside the assisted dip.
3 plate(135) dip for 3 reps at 170
115 weighted chin at 175
>tfw bulking too hard so the weight gains on weighted chins are mostly on my body
>nice pecs man, no homo
>you have an amazing v taper
>your shoulders are so big
>i've never seen anybody squat that
>I remember when you were this small
>do you compete?
>are you natural?
>you gotta wear a bra for those pecs
just off the top of my head
>be taking professionally done family photo
>photographer keeps telling me to relax my shoulders
>they are relaxed dude wtf
>you look like youre shrugging ... just reeelaaax
>*grabs trap*
>oh wow thats just all muscle huh
Really the only time someone has talked to me at the gym (except from my friends) was when some huge guy 110+kgs and at least 6'3 tatted up, mean looking comes up to me mid set of preacher curls.
I was listening to music so i pull my headphones out, my anxiety was through the roof then he starts having a chat to me about lifting and the gym and why im there,
He Complements my serratus and asks if im in training for a show.
I feel like i have some body dismophia so fuck knows if i was actually big at the time or he was being nice to me. but it was still a huge confidence boost.
Just surprised its happened. hes the only person iv spoken to at the gym in over a year.
>be boxfag
>got a concussion my 3rd year of college, had to take a huge break
>wind up trying judo for a while, absolutely ass cardio+no real striking training
>finally get over concussion
>go to judo practice, some semipro MMA fighter is there
>roll with him, try to counter one of his throws for the third time
>torques the fuck out of me, gets the throw
>tfw meniscus injury
>unable to do anything but arms and abs for months
>knee heals up enough to let me do some bagwork
>actually able to smack it around fairly well
>technique has gone to absolute shit
>other boxer guy at my new gym sees
>helps me get my technique back to where it should be
>" now, with the way you're hitting it you'll always get power because of your atheleticism, but-"
>mfw a guy called me athletic after months of not being able to train
You just reminded me of something that happened recently.
>Doing dropsets on squats
>Black guy who’s quite big comes up to me and remarks “those are good squats”
>Ask him later if he can spot me since I’m training to failure
>He spots me for the next three sets
>We chat inbetween sets later on and he mentions an injury he’s had
>I respond that I feel like everyone past a certain age has something, and even though I’m 21 I felt a slight twinge in
between my glute and my back this week, maybe a nerve being pressed
>He winces and remarks that he’s seen a lot of people with that and offers to show me how to stretch it out
>Literally gets me to lie on the back on the gym and pulls my legs to each side to fix my injury
>A week later and haven’t felt it since
Yes
What the heck is it about Jamaican dudes, when I used to train tae kwon do and mma there was this Jamaican kickboxer that would show up and spar with us now and then and he would give me openings to pull combos off when I was close to figuring something out but would punish the shit out of my legs when I wasn't even close.
back when i first started i had really long hair and was obviously incredibly self conscious about everything i did
I cut my hair short and this older lady who was recovering from an eating disorder said how handsome it made me look.
I've been training for 19 years now, and received many compliments I suppose, but that one has always stuck with me. I hope she made a full recovery.
