People often find themselves working long overtime shifts there whether they want to or not because they want to maintain the appearance of being hard working. Depending on the job, if you are a foreigner, you may find yourself dragged into this very long overtime because your coworkers might be planning or having meetings during that extra time and this could set you behind. Japan's government, like the workers, has only attempted to curtail the excess overtime for appearances so far. People do it anyway, even though there have been cases of people (young people, even) suddenly dropping dead from being overworked for absurdly long hours. This is my main personal gripe with Japan.

I mentioned it's awful towards women and this is true. If you had kids, especially female kids, would you want to raise them in a country where rapes are seemingly under-reported and there have to be girl-only trains to keep them away from the rampant molestations or perverts? I wouldn't.

Japan also has a problem with historical revisionism, aka, "we dindu nuffin: WW2 edition". It is not rampant, but there were/are major figures active that I personally think are doing a disservice in trying to push their agendas. Japan have also stopped publishing books before like Seventeen because extremist groups made death threats against the companies. I personally dislike Mishima as well for writing Sun and Steel. It's not really an autobiography, it just looks like one. He plotted his image as a historical figure for years until his suicide.

Finally, the Manga/Anime industry. What a shitshow that is. Young ambitious artists get worked to the absolute bone and even talented Mangakas find themselves at the mercy of the publisher's wishes. Afaik, Yu Yu Hakusho was wrapped up the way it was because the Mangaka didn't really want to extend the series for cash even though it was popular. The publishers obviously did want that.

Women are the gatekeepers. If they get themselves raped without spraying pepper or shooting the assailant they suck at the one job they have.

This is true, I just thought to mention it because this is a weeb infested website and I think people should be aware of just how much of their body and lives the artists and other staff give for quality entertainment.
