did I waste my time and money? How the hell do kids use these things?

You have to be willing to spend an hour a day just learning how to ollie. It's the same as learning any other sport.

>It's the same as learning any other sport.
It doesn't take an hour a day to learn how to throw a ball

Ollies are hard user don't beat yourself up. And
is right, you have to put in the time to get good.

Wow man. Most people I know learned how to Ollie in a day or two

Lawn bowlling isn't a real sport user

Oh and my friends and I learned to skateboard in the days of dial up internet and early DSL. it was pre YouTube for sure.

>skateboarding past the age of 15
>skateboarding after 2006
*snap*

Maybe the motion, but landing a crisp, high Ollie consistently takes months to years of practice and dedication

Hahahahahahaha no

Yeah you are full off shit

You were/are just bad at it, ok? Accept the fact that some kids learned to Ollie in a few days and were on to kick flips and heel flips by week 2,while you were still trying to balance on grass. Deal with it

Nah brah, you have to practice for a long time to have a high ollie. It isn't a natural movement.

Being able to consistently Ollie up a 2 to 3 foot ledge by day 2 is bull shit

try rollerblading or one of those faggy little scooters

Rollerblading is unironically more Jow Forums than biking and especially skateboarding

>3 months later, still can't even ollie, too embarrassed to try and skate at the skatepark
It took me a fucking year to be able to ollie up a curb but in my defense, I lived in New England where it's winter six months a year so it's more like half a year.

But still. Yeah. Skateboarding is NOT easy. You watch videos of a guy like Daewon Song and think "How hard could it be?" It turns out it's really fucking hard. If you really want to get good at skating, you have to practice three to four hours a day at a minimum just to be able to master the basics like ollies, 180s, nosesliding a curb, et cetera.

t. fat kid who has never even tried skating

bro it took me 5 months back in the day to learn how to ollie, it's fucking weird until you actually get it. i found learning tricks after learning how to ollie much easier

Reality check user
Skateboarding is fucking hard as fuck you either are a punk ass who simply dont Care to broke some Bones or It wil take hours of failing and standing up to learn Just a simple fucking trick its all about mind muscle connection with skateboarding
>It took me 7 months to learn ollie and 3 years to get em super high

Skateboarding is a "sport" you pick up when you are a kid, and stick with it. Not when you're an old cunt who thinks it's fun way to do "
"cardio" because you are retarded and clearly fat hence your need to roll around.

I learned to Ollie after about 1 day if even, i also had great balance when i was much younger. Now that i am 24 and have not skated for about 10 years I'd be shit, and probably have some horrible balance as well.

I disagree with your obnoxious, condescending tone but this is actually pretty good advice for OP and anyone else who is new to skating.

You don't skate to lose weight or get in shape. Skating is something you want to do when you're already in good shape because skating when you're even 10 lb overweight is extremely difficult. Your legs feel like they have lead in them and nothing works the same.

i skate 2miles to and from work every day, feels good.

Ride moar. Seriously. Just ride, and ride, and ride, and ride, get really comfortable on your board. Shit helps

Yeah I hopped on my longboard I used to commute on recently after losing 15kg and the difference is insane, early grabbing up curbs feels 10x easier now.

You have to be really intense for it to start to be a decent cardio exercise. Half the time you'll be falling too much to keep it going, unless you've got a bowl near you. Just keep doing it, there's not much that compares to it when you find your style and have some stuff dialed in. A lot of it is just being comfortable on your board
T. Went am but never further, but it took skating every single day for hours and hours to even get to that point, for years

A boneless is easier and will let you jump shit.

I learned to ollie pretty easily but landing them while going fast or off drops is hard.
