Same, I won't go into a long ass rant because I'm out of hecks to give but I'll say that there used to be some kinda general consciousness where people just wanted to have fun without restraints and showed their honest enthusiasm for their interests/hobbies, now it's just an ironic mess of normalfags and social media kids competing for upvotes and validation with the rest of the folks looking for a place to turn to.

Older cultures are getting fresh blood that didn't integrate - not that they had much of a chance, mind you, given the speed of the flood of normalfags onto the internet - and now they're utterly unrecognisable, basically this boomer meme is actually pretty correct with netizens not being able to adapt to the times.

I hated it at the time, but I miss back when off-topic discussions were allowed on other boards. It created a fun, laid-back sense of community with people just having fun.

I dunno, I started posting here in 2010 and I'd say the difference between 2010 and 2014 Jow Forums is a lot bigger than the difference between 2014 Jow Forums and 2018 Jow Forums.

2015 brought a giant influx of new users and shifted the most visited board from /b/ to Jow Forums.
The meme culture is similar, but now we have an extreme right wing tinge across the entire site. In 2014 that existed but it was nowhere near as ubiquitous as it is now.
You're right, they're more similar than past changes, but I still think it's good to remember the Trump bump Jow Forums got after he started to run.
