Suit Jow Forums

I know this isn't the usual realm of Jow Forums but I'd appreciate some advice anyway. I'm Jow Forums and buying a suit since I don't own one and I have to go to a wedding soon. Is this one good enough to buy for $400 and have tailored? I think I've got the typical Jow Forums problem where things are generally too loose, tight, short, whatever, due to thick ass/thighs, thin waist, relatively big chest (although you can't tell in pic related because it's kind of boxy/baggy), so as long as this is breddy gud and can be fixed up by a proper tailor then I'll prob pick it up.

Price is $400 including the shirt and with a tie apparently. IMO it's too boxy and weird fitting but I assume a tailor will fix that, and I know nothing about cuts etc. 100% wool for whatever that's worth, or else I'd just get something cheaper

idk or care about suits really, just trying to fit in with the normans at the wedding. thanks frens

have a tailor take your measurements first then get a suit

a tailor specifically? I attempted that today but just got some sales associate who didn't seem to really know or care and just wanted to sell me something
meh

unfortunately, yes theyre just trying to make a sale.Your going to have to do your own research bud or be stuck with ill fitting suit.

will do, any specific cut recommendations? i'm reading that having a high drop makes it tough to find stuff but i'm not sure what to start with as a base before tailoring

Why is the girls foot cut off? Uhh

theres a step

Nvm I'm autistic it's a platform

lol just noticed, also OP try /fa/

observed, and will do
apparently being fit means one might have a high drop, which is the difference between the chest and the waist size

which means it's impossible to find shit

Seems quite expensive, I was able to just get a nice outfit at Kohl's for probably 100$. Just gotta look around for the right fit. Unless if you have money to spend I guess

I'll probably just go there and have it tailored because I'm likely to end up with something mediocre this last minute no matter what, $100's super cheap though, any idea what you got specifically? I can only assume for $100 it's really bad in terms of quality/longevity

the coat fits allright, fix your fucking shirt and most importantly get pants that are 2 inches shorter than the ones in that pic

the cuffs of your pants shouldn't bunch up around your feet like that, they should end nearly flush with the top of your ankle

Just go to h & m, bought a match jacket and pants as well as a white button down dress shirt for like 80 bucks. Better fit than most other stores

Great suit, that light blue shirt blends really well with the suit

I know that, I was going to have a tailor take it up

seems like the sleeves are always too short with what they have on the rack unfortunately

What cut is this btw? And what are your stats?
Do you have the typical Jow Forums large drop?

>bought a match jacket and pants as well as a white button down dress shirt for like 80 bucks
When I went in there the jackets alone were $80. Did you get something on sale?

nigga forget the suit who's the girl and where do her feet live?

it's a step

op looks like that virgin guy meme pic

H&M suits are made out of plastic. If you have to wear them once every few months or years, it isn't a problem.
But if you have to wear one on a daily basis, you will hate them.
And people will know that you have a cheap suit.

>And people will know that you have a cheap suit.
how do they know? Basically I either want something that will last or something cheap and disposable. I just want to look half decent for this one occasion.

But all I see at H&M is $80 for the jacket and $80 for the pants and at that point I may as well get something better for not much more

>shops at H&M
>wears a surferboy wrist band
>uses a samsung galaxy smartphone
>is not a Dapper Dan man
YIKES

First of all, anywhere that is not a specialty shop with an in-house tailor is not where you wanna be. If you don't get groped with a tape, your suit will fit shitty.

Sounds like you went to men’s warehouse or something similar. Go to an actual tailor.

>First of all, anywhere that is not a specialty shop with an in-house tailor is not where you wanna be
what's considered a specialty shop?
Yep, Men's Wearhouse. So go to a regular tailor and get measurements and just find a suit on my own? I'm pretty sure the measurements the person gave me are accurate as I've checked them myself and they seem correct, it's just a matter of finding something that fits in general. I have a 40 chest and all of the 40 jackets seem way too huge on me in the body area, but I guess a tailor will take them in... fuck I hate buying clothes

The best suit places have their own tailor or their sale staff well versed in simple alterations to help you choose a suit that’s right for you. I paid $300 for my last suit including the alteration and it fits like a dream. This was in Japan tho.

I'm hearing a lot about Japan heh, options seem sparse where I am in the US... Mens Wearhouse or bust? no clue

You can tell by the cut, texture, fabric, and construction.

I see, and does the suit in my pics have an obvious cheap look then? I can't quite tell the difference by just eyeballing it outside of the obvious shiny polyester vs more matte wool

If you're willing to spend that much on a suit, check out indochino. I have Jow Forums proportions, never found a suit that fit even remotely well off the rack. Started buying dress shirts/ suits from indochino maybe two years ago. Wear them daily for work. They're holding up well.
And they're very generous with their alteration policy.

I see people shittting on Men’s Warehouse, but the one I went to was really good. Dude took my measurements, helped me try on a few coats and pants, and then they had a tailor in store that took what adjustments I needed. Pretty good experience to me.
