So Jow Forums Ive created quite a situation for myself
I'm going 18x, special forces candidate, but right now I'm not in a condition to pass selection. The recruiter, who made sf, told me that 3 miles at an 8 minute pace should prepare me properly, as welll as throwing some heavy weight on my back and rucking. I've delayed my enlistment for almost a full year, so I've got the rest of the summer, fall, winter, and next spring to prepare. Any advice for training over this coming year?
also >why the fuck can't I do pull ups, no matter how much I try
Because of the movies, they think they will all go on "special op missions", not knowing it's a select few, which those 'few" are heavily trained and usually have a few years behind them.
Reading the replies in here are hilarious none the less, especially people thinking to make it into the SF all you need to do is run, ruck, and do pull-ups.
I'm this guy; I thought i was Jow Forums as fuck yet still got wrecked by a lot of the guys, when i had a chance yet failed. If i was going to do it again, i would use steroids as mentioned by this guy And then taper off before enlistment and get it out of my system so they cant pull me up on a drug test.
If you just run, swim and do calisthenics. You'll get injuries real quick when you start moving to log PT, obstacles in the selection courses. The whole stick thin SF candidate is a meme, Jeff Nichols (a Navy SEAL) mentioned on his podcast that 150 pound swim/running athletes generally got crushed.
>OP is still a moron who signed an SF contract without meeting and exceeding the standard

Kettlebell training is the prime way to get fit before military enlistment. Get a hold of Pavel's books and read them, then watch his videos so you know everything you need to and get to work.
Throwing in bw exercises to round out performance would be good too. I recommend GymnasticBodies' foundation program or "overcoming gravity."
Cardio prepping is best if you do swimming or rowing, save rucking for slow but long hiking in uneven terrain just once per week. Knee health will be crucial so don't fucking overload.
And the most important preparation you will do won't be physical training.
The most important skill you will need is orienteering ability. So incorporate that into your rucking. I don't know what country your in and what local orienteering set up exists, but learn to read a map and use compass and landmarks so you can find your way without having to pay conscious effort for it.
Second most important skill is the ability to keep going- mental fortitude. Learn how you react when you're without water, food or sleep for days straight, then push your boundaries. Go to the /fast/ thread and learn the latest snakejuice recipe, salt will be vital for your performance from now on. Get a pouch of the salt mixture and keep that on your at all times during enlistment and dip your finger in it now and then and eat; it will help more than you can imagine.
Other than that just learning how to pay attention is pretty important. So start putting conscious effort to note things in your environment and looking at patterns, you need to train your brain with new automated processes so you don't get caught completely off guard when you're tired, because they will push you to that brink constantly to program new behaviors and instincts into you. Come prepared.

Go over to meg and ill help you not ehre where all this 18 year old skinnyfats are larping like this>Kettlebell training is the prime way to get fit before military enlistment. seriously kill yoruself
And if you do come prepared and actually manages to give an effort above the rest, slow down. Always give what is needed, never more. If you can give more than necessary save it in the tank, don't single yourself out as superman because they'll put more on you, and when you eventually fail you will suffer mote for it. Never, ever show you are above average, learn to be sneaky with shit.
On that note, steal food, take naps and drink water every chance you get. Getting one of the lifestraws or similar and keeping it on you will allow you to drink from whatever water source you run across. A little goes a long way.

So I sorta lied, I was just looking for people's input on what I should do for the next year
I'm still deciding between 35p (cryptologic linguist) and 18x. Pretty sure my recruiter lied to me when he said 90% of 18xers "make it". plus sf is actively recruiting rn because theyre understaffed. Either way, I'm going to do dep for almost a year because I need time to train and need to attend my sister's wedding
>Pretty sure my recruiter lied to me when he said 90% of 18xers "make it".
How fucking dumb are you? You won't even pass the aptitude stage for SF.
Robert Gonzalez
I think he just meant passing the tryouts, not make sf since 18x has the recruits train with actual green berets for 3 weeks before the 3 week tryout
Robert King
>I think he just meant passing the tryouts, not
I don't know seems like he means Making it, as in "actually making it".
>Pretty sure my recruiter lied to me when he said 90% of 18xers "make it" > plus sf is actively recruiting rn because theyre understaffed.
Levi Walker
he could've it was a bit unclear but we were talking about something else when he mentioned that that so I didn't think about it
Joshua Ortiz
Whatever, either way op is a waste of space that hasn't even done his ASVAB yet. I hope the dummy realizes something like a cryptologist linguist requires a score of 91.
Eli Rivera
Not American but some of their resources are pretty good.
In regards to pull ups I suggest you use a lat pulldown machine and work with lower weights doing higher reps for hypertrophy, gradually increasing the weight until you're doing body weight.
Ryan Russell
why are you so mad? you just don't know shit about the military, it's ok
