Autism

>been playing lots of Fallout New Vegas
>started treating conversational responses like speech checks
>say what I think my character would say to pass a speech check
>my social anxiety has gone way down and my conversations are way less awkward

You know that actually makes sense. Autists should be coached in this kind of thinking to become more socially conscientious. It's just a matter of considering and weighing options and their consequences before speaking. Socialising can be made relatively mechanical and user-friendly if you don't let it overwhelm you into saying whatever the fuck immediately jumps into your head.

maybe then I wouldn't make rape jokes around pregnant girls

Could be worse, I once made a holocaust joke to a German girl. I weighed the decision, and still did it. *I* found it funny.

>Autism that makes you more social
It's a new stage in evolution!

Supposedly reading a lot can temporarily put you in a mindset of subconsciously imitating a character you read about, or imitating the style of the writing. So maybe if we read a lot about some cool noir dudes or whoever is the quintessential alpha to you, we can have an easier time with a non-austismal mindset

>tfw just learned about the Johnny Cash version of Big Iron
I love how two singers can sing the same song but it sounds totally different in each version yet they're both excellent. Robbins' is more upbeat and you never doubt the ranger will win while Cash's cover sounds much darker, like there is a real chance the ranger gets killed.

>id like to talk about somehting else
>goodbye
*rotates and walks away*

once made a slavery joke to a black kid, get on my level hun

I love how they contrast yet they are both known for trail tunes

I'm not from the USA so I don't get to do that.

Fuck me there's something eerie about Cash's version. Maybe it's just that I'm used to the New Vegas version but that really fucked with my head.

Considering Jow Forums is full of autistic shutin virgin retards, yeah, you would do a lot better to even set a fictional character as a role model or self-influencer.

I'm interested in the psychology behind and the experience of adopting a role model like that as an alter ego

Listen to Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" then Johnny Cash's version. It's incredible how that man could make a song *his*.

Actual autist here, what is a speech check? Would I still be able to do it if I stutter and slur my words and don't always know how to read the situation?

No. But you could just grasp your hands tightly to avoid over stimulation while the big boys rp in this thread.

There is no such thing as a "real personality". Everyone "fakes it until they make it" by copying someone else as they grow up. And as an adult, even then you can modify your personality by imitating others.

I demand to be included in the discussion.

I do this a lot But If I play certain games I apply their game rules and systems to the conversation, which is quite weird when I believe I'm slowing down time and then immediately rapid fire a sentence into the conversation after being silent for 5 minutes or so.

>what is a speech check
A dialog option the player selects, which makes the character say something effective if he has high speech skills, or something ineffective if he has low speech skills.
To attempt to imitate passing speech checks in real life means nothing more than
>just choose to be charismatic, bro, works for me

Only problem I see with that is that autist would probably pick edgy role models that would just make things worse.
