Maybe it starts off that way but by the time you are addicted its not out of boredom or curiosity, its because you dont feel ok with yourself when you arent using. Even if you dont have physical withdrawals you still crave the feeling of being anywhere but right here in the present moment, feeling what you are feeling right now. Many people are already at that point but they lie to themselves and say its still curiosity.

stop projecting, not everyone chooses shitty addicting drugs and lacks self-control. psychedelics and weed are not physically addicting and i haven't done any drugs at all in almost three years. i got what i was looking for, then i stopped.

Good for you. Im not talking about 90 percent of people that smoke weed or do psychadelics for their percieved enlightenment or spiritually. Woah dude an empathogen! This makes me a better person! I have epiphanies on this that I believe to be earthshattering. But a lot of people that smoke weed end up doing other drugs over time, and that's really when addiction takes hold.

It comes down to whether your brain is predisposed to addiction. You can either believe addiction science or belive its just an inherent lack of self control thats really up to you. But i belive what the psychologists say, that it is a disease.
