Jow Forumsizens that kicked the cancer stick habit, how did you do it?

I've been smoking for a while now and I've noticed that it's finally starting to really impact my fitness levels.

Any tips?

Here's a tip: Do it you weak fucking faggot

Unironically i know ppl that quit when they became vape fags

just stop you IDIOT

1. Don't have cigarette
2. Don't think about it
3. If you want a cig, do something productive instead
4. Read Allen Carr, trust me, it's godsent.

Bulk

I quit smoking pot and it's not similar at all, but for me looking back on all the things and negative stuff that it caused me helps a lot.

Every time you want one think about a time that you hated yourself for kowtowing to a substance.

First, I switched exclusively to vaping, which wasn't as fun as smoking. Vaping was a pain in the ass to maintain compared to smoking, and it was expensive. But, I stopped smoking cigarettes. Then, once I got the flu really bad. I couldn't get out of bed, much less vape. After I got better, it had been at least 72 hours since I had any nicotine so I figured... Fuck it. I'll quit vaping. At first it was tough, and I had to resist cravings, but they eventually went away.

This

Just lift and binge eat your smoking away

First off, you have be be sure this is something you want to do, and that you will commit to it. This is not something you can half ass. This isn't a "gee, it would be nice, but..." thing. You either quit, or you don't.

Once you get to that point, here are the two things that helped me:

1) Fight each craving/each day as its own battle. Every morning when you get up, your goal for the day should be to get through the entire day without smoking. "Not today... maybe tomorrow" That was my mantra.

You'll go crazy if you think in terms of never again. Fight each battle one at a time.

Likewise, when a craving hits, (and you know they will) realize that this is your opportunity to prove to yourself your strength. Just fight that one craving. Don't think about never having another cigarette never again. Just don't have this one and keep moving forward.

Once you get multiple days under your belt, you'll get momentum. But don't let up. Keep thinking "Not today, maybe tomorrow" and keep building.

2) When cravings hit, you're always thinking about lighting up that fresh new cigarette. Instead really focus and think about that last shitty, ashy hit. Focus on how crappy that feels. Do you really want this? That what it will become.

If you relapse and do end up smoking, really focus on that last hit. Make yourself feel shitty. Use it as motivation for next time.

Keep at it man. You know it's the right thing. You can do it. Just do it. One craving at a time, one day at time. Don't have one today.... Maybe tomorrow. Everyday.

Switch to vaping, then three months later switch to using shitty disposable vapesticks. Then three months later go cold turkey.

The point is to get totally out of the habit of buying cigs.

I quit the same day I started vaping which was about 10 months ago now. Was hard for 2-3 days then was ez as fuck after that. I vaped with nicotine for about 6 months, 4 months without Nic and now I barely even vape. Idc if people think it's gay vaping saved me from a lot of health complications down the line. If you go this route make sure you get a decent vape not some shitty gas station one

As other anons said, just don't smoke. Wanna smoke? Don't. No matter how stressed you get or how bad the cravings get, don't go to the gas station and smoke.

This is the Russian cat with crepes and coffee, what emotion can you see on his face

Literally this.

I’ve tapered from time to time using tobacco pipe but honestly you really just have to man up and do it.

> vape cravings

I realised smoking is fucking stupid and the only real benefit to it for me was the social aspect, then I realised that all the people I knew that smoked are fucking stupid so I decided to give it up. You're essentially letting a part of your identity die when you give up smoking. Which is better than slowly dying physically I suppose. It helped me to think of it as quitting being a smoker rather than quitting smoking cigarettes if that makes sense. I haven't touched a cigarette in nearly 2 years and I don't crave or think about them at all. So much so that I scrolled past this thread and read it twice before I thought "oh wait that's me"

Read Allen Carr's "Easy Way" - you can download a pdf online, guaranteed you'll stop smoking afterwards - just beware starting again when you drink

Not OP but ive done reading it.
It's inspiring and really helped me out, for 7 days..
I got to job and coworker pissed me the fuck out, I was cranky from withdrawals and then just gave up and lit one. Withdrawal is a bitch.
Gonna try again once im on vacation.
But yeah that book is a masterpiece
