you gotta introduce them to lifestyle changes slowly, things that theyre really going to stick with for long periods of time.
Try finding them healthier foods they like to snack on and removing soda from their diet. Then move to getting them aware of the amount of foods theyre eating and to slowly keep a conscious effort to reduce excess. Etc
As for exercise, if you can go on walks with the kids or take them to the park to play soccer or whatever, make it a normal part of their lives, then theyll stick with it.

There are tons of people who get jacked and then hit fifty and say "Fuck it I'm about to die anyway". These people have either been surrounded their entire lives by sycophants or people whose idea of encouraging improvement is to yell at you. That is the only way you can look at yourself at 400 lbs and say "Yeah, I'm healthy". I hit 180lbs at 5'10" (Yes, I know, I'm a manlet) and said "Fuck this I'm not taking care of my body" and lost 30 lbs doing bodyweight exercises and dieting. These people will never hit that point in their whole damn lives. They're a lost cause, they now exist only to make us feel good about the fact that we'll never be those people unless we actively want to be.

I was chunky, and I hated it. Now I'm lean and spooky but if I actually go to the gym I love how I look and I feel great working out, not to mention it's so much easier to get around, even just going from 180 to 150.
