It's always height this, genetics that. Some people say it's endurance. Some people say you need strength. Some people say it's all in the technique and form.
But explain to me how LITERAL 14 year old girls can compete with 20-30 year old men in their prime?
I've seen it at the olympics, and, more specifically, I'm looking at the results of some local swimming events. And 13-14 year olds (boys and girls) are DOMINATING the top 10 over adult men in their twenties and thirties (although truth be told: the number 1 winner is a 22 year old man)
I just don't get it anymore. I'm a 25 year old man myself and I am slower than all these kids. Please just tell what I'm doing wrong. Should i lift harder? Work on my technique? Grow 2 inches?
Swimming is he'll for the long legged people. All that kicking just to move my torso which is only a little longer than my femur.
Hudson Wood
Being short is actually an advantage in swimming Being taller does give you more reach, but the kicking with those long ass legs is some real shit
Grayson Gray
Most olympic swimmers are 6'2ft+
Juan Nguyen
Cope Hang yourself little ''man''
Joshua Morgan
True, but most men are pretty tall anyway, so that's not a surprise. And shorter men do compete at the olympics as well, meaning they're in the top 0.1% of all swimmers, even if they don't win.
>Kyoko Iwasaki of Japan won the 200m Breaststroke Olympic gold medal in Barcelona, making her, at the age of 14 years and 6 days, the youngest swimmer ever to claim an Olympic title. >Kyoko Iwasaki height: 1,59m
Juan Cooper
21 sec 50 swimmer here the trick to swimming is all technique swam all 4 yeaes of highschool and freshman made state every year cuz thwir technique is flawless. i have two tricks to getting fast longest stroke possible with the arms and one breath MAX for a 50 yrd swim
Camden Rivera
The smaller you are, generally, the more efficient swimmer you are. The same way short guys can lift a higher weight/body weight ratio. Early adolescents are great swimmers because they have small frames and are relatively strong for their weight. They don't drag as much in the water as adults and their low weights means they don't have to work as hard to move through the water.
Benjamin Evans
Well what's the trick user? I'm a 31 second swimlet that can only go no breath for 25. I have to breath after the flip turn.
Isaac Garcia
Ideal swimming body:
>short torso >small head >long arms and legs >big feet and hands
Chase Thompson
Nope. Try again You want short legs and a long torso
Jackson Baker
you’re not fucking swimming hard enough, you probably need to train way more intensely and for longer period of time, try 2 hours a day. so much technique is involved. look at your breathing for start, i can almost guarantee its shit. you should know all the strokes like it’s 2nd nature but if you don’t you should learn all of them. if you’re a 25 year old you should absolutely be SMOKING everyone in the pool there’s really no excuse. the sheer amount of strength that you can pull yourself and kick through the water is insane. Sooo, work on your stroke form, turns, and start. then get your breathing down, then practice long and hard. t. former college swimmer
also being tall helps but it doesn’t make a significant difference at all. if your stroke and intensity is 95% your height and build is 5%
Samuel Hernandez
That 5% is the difference between 1st and 5th at the college level though. If you're not 6'2"+ just give up.
Thomas Sanders
then train your breathing to do that is simple start doing 50s with 10 breaths max x200 with a 15 second rest in between and take it down more and more
Jason Peterson
in additio breath before the flip no need to breath after if you do it right i bet your flips are shit so improve those. also count your strokes each 25 and try to lower them as much as possible without gaining time becuase that will actually lower it by alot
Benjamin Murphy
I swam competitively for 6+ years. it's about 70% technique, 10% strength, 10% endurance and 10% genetics. Some people go for the "buff nigga that just powers through water" but lots of muscle will sink you quicker than being lean. You're slower because you've just started and they've had probably several years and possibly hundreds of hours of coaching
Sebastian Adams
Just out of interest are these proportions any good for swimming: >5'3" 160 cm >13(US) 47(EU) shoe sieze >long upper body >narrow frame >short legs
Leo Adams
yes
Lucas Rogers
Then I shall give it a try.
Logan Baker
I don't really care much, the exercise benefits come from the effort you put in rather than the speed you get out
Mason Fisher
Wrong. Taller people create less relative drag in the water and can exert the greater absolute (non leveraged) strength their height aftords over shorter people.
Julian James
wrong you little faggot. all that matters is long torso, long arms and short legs.
Brody Morgan
t. community college swimmer Don't feel like you need to be faster than everyone just because of your age. Some kids have been swimming their entire lives and a lot of time and effort went into their technique. Getting a good feel in the water is way more important than being strong. Look up pulling drills and some good kicking drills they'll go into way more detail than I can write here. The takeaway though is that technique outshines pure strength
Connor Moore
>Grecian physics Fuck off brainlet, you can't reason science, it needs to be observed, and its observed that longer objects have a lower drag coefficient in water than shorter ones.
Long limbs and huge hands and feet are whats ideal for swimming.
The prime age for swimmers is their early 20s. They can compete competitively until their late 20s.
It takes a very long time to get a good level of fitness for swimming. It might take you years. Its not as simple as jogging, you need endurance and strength in muscles you dont ever use.
14 year old girls can not keep up with a 20something male professional athlete. Women at the olympic level are still slower than the men in equivalent events.
Maybe at the non professional level women may have a slight edge since they float better but its not significant.
Also black people cant swim properly because of black genetics
Benjamin Hernandez
Can someone explain me why I get muscle cramps while swimming for more than 40 minutes? This happens just to legs muscles such as my inner foots, all of a sudden muscles contract and it hurts as hell, I need to get out of the swimming pool and wait until they relaxed to keep going on. This started recently, been hitting the pool for 5 months now 1hr or 2 a week
David Rogers
Techniquelet here, can swim 100m with clothes on in 2:12 min, i just use force like a retard.
Good for swimming in water, terrible for swimming in pussy.
Cooper Mitchell
That's why you wear 2 meter long fins right faggot
Ryder Brown
You are 160 cm and have 47 feet? Do you know how fucked up this looks?
Austin Cox
>You are 160 cm and have 47 feet? Do you know how fucked up this looks? Yes, every time I look into a mirror.
I think I should start triathlon, since I already ride a lot on my roadbike and run a little. (averages of 32 km/h alone in the flats and 20:32 for 5k running on gravel)
Nolan Sanchez
I always wonder how good is swimming for martial arts
Easton Rodriguez
I'm 5'11" and only have a 30" inseam, maybe 29". Basically I'm all torso. I've never been spectacular at sports or anything, and then did the military thing, where I was probably like 25th percentile in PT tests. I do, however, blow most people away in swimming. I think anthropometry is huge in being a good swimmer.
Brody Cruz
>can swim 100m with clothes on in 2:12 min why would you do this? are you trying to become a lifeguard?
Jordan Collins
Stay hydrated, eat nutritious food, take your vitamins and omega 3s and 6s. Warmup properly and take rest days. ez
Bentley Foster
It's literally the opposite of that
Hunter Allen
Army shit, i have to do this once a year, time is capped at 4 or 6 mins.
Brayden Powell
i thought taking vitamines was a meme. unless you mean "eat fruit and vegetables"
Asher Hill
It isn't a meme. And for cramps minerals (potassium, calcium and magnesium) are important too
