is 26 too old for starting med school?
Is 26 too old for starting med school?
College has no age requirement, it's school. Although do you really want to graduate at 34
it's never too late and youre never too old, user.
That's the earliest date I can start med school at this point.
Doesnt med school take like 6 years minimum, youll be a 32yo boomer once you finish
Of course not, but since you're asking this question on this board on this website then practically you're too stupid to get through med school. Disqualified.
Not at all. In some ways you'll have a significant advantage over your peers.

>Although do you really want to graduate at 34
hence why i'm asking, my life is empty anyway so not like i'm wasting it, however i'm left wondering if i'm even going to have enough time to develop a career out of it to the point i start earning enough money and still have the time/energy/resources to enjoy it and not just dump it all into retirement
are you planning on going as well?
actually this board is filled to the brim with college drop outs and bitter students who know a thing or two about college hierarchies and the like, from many of the boards on Jow Forums it's actually a pretty good place to ask on
>6 years of just education
>several years of aspiranture
>ending up old and with no experience in the field
At least it's interesting, although I don't know how stupid it would be to choose this path in Burgerstan for you
Fuck you faggot never reply to any of my posts again cheesegrater twat or I'll report you
who are you talking to bucko?
I am going to be reapplying for a 3rd time eventually.
26 is too old to start anything. Haha, doesn't the truth suck?
Where are you right now? Graduated from college yet? My roommate was 29 when he started med school and a bunch of my other friends were 25 or older
You should consider applying to DO schools
what happened the last two times?
as someone with some experience in this thing do you think 26 is too old ("only go if you absolutely have to" age) or still rather acceptable?
so what if you are. who cares?
It really isn't. Something like 50 yo is the limit, and even then you can still do a lot. Quit spitting shit youngfag
i'm a college drop out
i'm not talking about "socially acceptable" age, i'm talking about whether practically it's too old considering i'll only be starting me career at around 34
I have people with white hair in my college 50y boomers studying computer engineering
I wish I could become a doctor but there's no way I could afford the student loans to become one since I'm an American.
I graduated top of my class in my medically-based high school.
Oh whoops didn't mean to quote OP sorry.
better to be 32 year old doctor than 32 year old retail clerk.
>i'm talking about whether practically
idk??? more than just age factors into that????
just do it user. not that you should take advice from r9k anyway but what do u have to lose
It's not as long as you have a passion for it. If you don't, you'll probably end up dropping out or failing a lot of courses before graduating. Medicine is stressful and quite boring, more so for us robots. If you just want the money and expect a comfy life enjoying your success I'd suggest studying something else.
Gonna reapply for a 4th time next year :^)
this, just study fucking microbiology or somethin somethin
I got rejected from everywhere both times.
First time got 2 interviews, 1 from my undergrad school.
Second time got just my undergrad school.
Truthfully I was running on the hope that I would have publications and shit ready for the second time, but it never panned out because everything went to utter shit.
No it's not, do this at your own pace and don't give a shit about anything else.
I'm going to college this fall, will probably be close to 30 when I graduate.
We can make it
It might be a little awkward/uncomfortable if you go to college at your age, but it's always better to attend college sooner than later lad.
no it's not too fucking late you dumb faggot.
i always make the same mistake where i think that it was too late for me to do something with my life and that i shouldn't even bother, and now i'm here 5 years later literally on the same page i was years ago.
when you're 32 you'll just realise that these years could've been spent in med school rather than doing mcdonalds and that it wasn't actually too late.
don't make the same mistake many men make.
also what this nigger said remember what Trigun taught us
>the single worst thing we can do is sit around and do nothing
>youll be a 32yo boomer once you finish
and statistically he will have 50 years more to live
No. you'll just make less money in your lifetime since you'll probably start working in your late 30s but that's it. If you want it bad enough, you can do it, no problem.
I've finished med school this year, and I'm 26 now. 5 more years to complete my internal medicine residency program.
I would strongly advice you not to. Medical studies require a huge amount of time and effort, and honestly it's not worth it. I wish I studied computer science or smth instead.
if your grades/GPA are shit why not consider becoming a male nurse?
I think med school is the course of study with the widest age-range among the students. I'd estimate that half come straight from high school, and half have done something else prior to starting. Because the grade requirements are relatively high, a lot of people have to improve their grades after high school first. And some people have had entirely different careers before starting med school.
Some people at my program were in their thirties when they started. A bunch of them have children.
tl;dr: nah...
this is actually a really good advice
