Hello frens. So lately I've been suffering from lower back pain especially when I lift and today while deadlifting I felt a sharp pain in my back and dropped that shit immediately. It's been a couple hours and I can barely even walk without excruciating pain let alone pick stuff up. Question is has this happened to anyone else and did you require surgery to fix this shit? Also, what it could be exactly? If I need surgery I'm fucked lads.
Hello frens...
Nigga this is why you shouldnt deadlift heavy.
You'll be fine just rest it
Ok friend. How long you think I should give it? Just until the pain subsides?
Also what can I do to alleviate lower back pain in general? As I said it was nagging at me for a while before this
Its probably a tweak
Tomorrow will be the worst day
It should heal completely in one week
If it doesnt then you fucked up
If you pulled a muscle you could be injured for 1-6 weeks
fugg.
Is there a way to tell without getting an xray or something? The pain is worse on my right side rather than my left and prior to today it was more so just general soreness in the lower back.
Can you describe the pain you have? Does the pain shoot from your lower back to your leg?
Samefag here, keep in mind that your spine doesn't get stronger along with your muscles. Just don't do deadlifts for a week or two. Just sit out tomorrow or the next day and go back when the pain subsides. I doubt it's a muscle pull or anything you probably just tweaked something
No it's just my lower back. Also now that I'm standing up it doesnt hurt as bad just when I bend
now rest your back for a few weeks or even months if you need to. Stop lifting too much weight if your lower back is weak. Do simple easy exercises for your lower back and ease into it. Remember it doesnt matter how much you can deadlift if in 10-20 years you'll have backpain
X rays only show if a bone was fractured
To look at muscles you would need an mri... which doctors usually avoid suggesting unless yoy are prepping for surgery
I think that if you can move your back even though you are in pain, most likely it is a tweak/muscle sprain.. if the muscle was torn you wouldnt be able to move at all
t. had the same sharp as fuck pain during squats in March of 2017
>he fell for the deadmeme
Hope it's just a tweak too. Just it hurts really fucking bad right now so maybe I'm overreacting. Either way I think DLing is out of the question for me for a while lol.
ty for the advice user definitely gonna rest up and take it easy on the heavy lifts now. Are they stretches I should do that you know of? I have some old monkey bars in my backyard I'm gonna start hanging on to decompress my spine because apparently that helps.
i did
checked. How long before you were back in the gym, fitbro?
Immediately but just used lower weight for a few weeks
Youtube alan thrall back pain
>actually deadlifting in current year
kek every braindeadlifter eventually ends up in snap city
hanging is perfect to take off pressure.
try out the rolling foam maybe that helped me too.
im 6'5 and had problems with my lower back. I had to be a big pussy about my back but slowly and with small steps you can build a good back. I remember that sharp pain in my lower back that made me drop the weight too. I realized at that moment, if i dont take care of my back I'll fuck myself up. So go and do some research about the lower back and how things work because it's super important, we're talking about your spine for christs sake.
good luck op
I see. Will look into that vid. Ty
Ok so here’s what I suggest doing: keep training your lower back, do exercises like hyperextensions etc using high reps but low weight. It’s quite important to keep training your lower back as you get injured. Skip entirely on deadlifts and squats until you’re completely healed, and even then be very careful doing these exercises. Some people just aren’t meant to do them bc of their individual anatomy. As such, you’re better off doing replacement exercises. Rack pulls is a good replacement as a back exercise.
Also one trick that has immensely helped me personally was put the pillow under my knees as I slept. It removed like 90% of the pain I experienced after a few days of doing this.
Godspeed user, get well soon.
You just tore a muscle or something, depending on how bad you should rest and do stretches and wait until pain has subsided + one extra week
I love you anons. Helping me get healed after a shitty workout. Were all gonna make it
This happened to me too. The lower back muscle attachment got partly torn and it was really Hard to pick shit off the ground. I did very light deadlifts just even if it hurt a little and went to a chiropractor. He gave me a stretching exercise wich helped me greatly. My back was very stiff after this tear and I had to stretch it dog/cat style to get the stiffness away + a lot of massage. This got me my mobility back to get into heavy deads again less than 6 months after.
Hmm I've been seeing a lot of people recommend massages too. I think it might be good for me to go regularly anyway just for prevention. Do you still do massages?
I agree that an x-ray is of no use in such cases but user pls do go to a doctor and do get at least a computed tomography done on your lower back to see where the problem lies.
No, I went to the chiropractor 6 times until my back felt better and he did massages. Now I do some foamrolling if I feel soar and the dog/cat stretch. My tear was like two years ago. No back problem since then.
if it's muscular, you're ok in a few weeks
if it's a disc injury, you will need a while to recover (look into stu mcgill back mechanic) and should probably think long and hard about whether the risk:reward of deadlifting and squatting heavy is worth it for you
you almost certainly don't need surgery, surgery for disc issues almost never improves patient outcome it's a complete meme
Exactly the same thing happened to me
Could barely walk first two days
Bending down was also hard for a long time
I stopped squat bench DL rows ohp for 3 months, only did pullups dips
When bending down became easy, I added GHR
Soon after I added ssb squats, the only variation that didn't hurt. Lowbar, hibar, front all hurt.
Two months ago I decided to deadlift and immediately hit my old 1rm, now I am at a 20 kg pr. Squat is also on a 10 kg pr, bench I also PRed.
Work around it,you'll be strong.
Anyone else get sciatica or SI joint pain?
Somebody didnt reply to THE post lmao
Bet your mother died in her sleep aswell
I have
Pillow under the knees while sleeping is goat if you can’t afford the inverse hang bed
sounds like u sprained urself
i did it and it took me 6 months to recover
gg fag
My dude I think I strained my rhomboid the other day so I feel you. does it hurt when you breathe? You most likely strained somethin in your lower back. I think it was my barbell rows that did me in and it must've been the diddlies for you.
Proper rest and light work using the muscle should be all you need to recover in a week or so. A few weeks maximum.
Strengthen the core in general, also the glutes. Do some mobility work for the hips and hamstrings. One thing I’ve found helps my lower back is rolling out my upper and mid back. Sleep on your side with a pillow between your legs. Epsom salt baths help me as well.
>deadlifting heavy in 2018 despite all the memes and warnings
you brought this upon yourself.
>does it hurt when you breathe?
At first it definitely did. Like I said I could barely even move but it's not that bad since I've been relaxing however I did take a painkiller so that might be what made it better
you should've thanked the fucking gorilla, my man
when i had a similiar snapback problems like yours I went to all kinds of physiotherapists and shit treatments, they all made the pain worse.
I had my father help me walk, it was that bad.
Then I went to a jacuzzi or a pool and It was the best pain reliever ever. when your body is in the water. your literally floating in zero gravity. it is great if your vertebrae are pressuring your nerves. I went for about a month everyday and it fixed my back. i was also taking a bunch of pills and went to therapy but the only thing I could really see an improvement with was when I went to my local swimming pool.
good luck
>I've been suffering from lower back pain especially when I lift and today while deadlifting
I'm sorry bruv, I know you don't want to hear this, but you are a fucking retard, if you have back problems already why would you do already such a high risk exercise, solution, go get xray, poorfag solution, chill in the house for a few weeks
The thing is tho man it wasnt that bad at all. It actually felt like really minor soreness. Then today my shit just gets all fucked up
I had the exact same thing, legit just go to a physio explain everything, they'll sort you out in under two hours. I was pain free like 2 days later.
I've done this, I had a bad back and then one day deadlifting it was like a jolt running from my back down my right leg. You're probably leaning too far forward, watch some youtube videos or something to check your form. You probably just sprained your back, it'll probably be better in a few days but it will take a few weeks to fully heal. That doesn't mean you can't train during that time but you'd better have perfect form so you don't make it worse. Once you really fuck your back up, that's it, you're done for life, so you weigh up whether your think you're ready to start again.
Having said that, I don't know for sure that it's the same for you so get a doctor to look at it, but if it's getting worse and worse as the day goes on that's a good sign that it's just a sprain. If it were a slipped disc or something spinal it would be excruciating from the second you did it.
THANK YOU SNAPBACK GORILLA

Please an hero
Talking from experience it may be a herniated disk. They normally manifest worse on one side of the spine than the other. You could see with an X Ray I lived in denial for like 6 months still lifted until it became so bad I couldn’t walk. Then took a year without surgery to recover. I still don’t do some of the same lifts I used to such as deadlift
Oh yea it was an MRI Same shit to me desu
THANK YOU SNAPBACK GORILLA
