It's more like, every woman I've ever met has made me feel worse about myself one way or another, usually on purpose trying to discourage advances, but often just to be mean. I have been rejected by women I had no intention of hitting on or even looking at that way, but they STILL made sure to communicate something negative.

When you've literally never had a positive experience with women, at some point that part of you just dies inside. So in that way it's not really about fear.

This is sadly 99% true. Not many girls worth dating out there.

Fighting a wild animal is in some respects safer than a social misstep and its payoff is greater.

Humans don't fight animals alone they do so in groups, a big cat is actually scared of humans because we work in groups, they will only use surprise to hunt us and will avoid a prolonged fight. Killing an animal provides food, prestige and clothing etc for the hunter.

Screwing up in a small social group (which is what we have evolved to see any society no matter its size) is dangerous. Being ostracized by your tribe can lead to a much lower chance of survival that effects a social creatures life more than a large predator could. Being well liked is more important to social creatures than having to worry about an animal attack because if your tribe doesn't like you then you are going to be trying to survive alone.
