I have a pretty good job but I remember how fucking annoying it was to listen to people like you when I was unemployed and digging through heaps of job listings that said "Entry level position, 25 hours per week, weekend and night and holiday and on call availability required, PhD and 10 years experience required, $10/hour and no benefits." We don't have a labor shortage. We have a rational employer shortage. They still think we are in a job market where they hold all the cards and can make all sorts of bullshit demands due to high unemployment.

Trucking is an industry destroyed by over-regulation coupled with excessive demands on the driver. My father worked the industry for over 30 years, and in that time it went from a good providing wage we were never rich, but we weren't poor for my early childhood with a family of 4 to a shit wage for all the extra headache added in with super restrictive mileage and computer control over the semis he ran. A couple weeks ago, the store I work at had a semi coming in, and he had to stop his truck literally a block away from our store simply because he was about to run over on miles. He was fine, nothing was wrong with the truck, the product, nothing at all, but he had to leave it sit across the street for an hour just because the computer was yelling at him about IT'S TIME FOR YOUR BREAK YOU HAVE TO PARK AND TAKE A BREAK.

Only jobs in my area are truck drivers and minimum wage warehouse work. Maybe if they actually paid a decent wage people would try and work there, but nope, would rather run short staffed.

So businesses are still losing experienced workers, apprentices aren't happening, and they refuse to raise wages. They cut each other so close on bids that they barely make any money, but all it takes is one big job going bad and you could go millions in the red.
They are going to have to pay, one way or the other. If they want to survive they need to raise wages.
Workers will organize soon, and many companies will fall. It might get messy for a while, but wages and prices will rise as a result. If it gets really bad we could see Japanese-style stagflation.
