I had all 4 removed and all were impacted and got my ass put to schleep

They just put a respirator thing over your mouth and nose, you sit there for like 10 more seconds before you knock out, then what feels like 2 seconds later you wake up and from your cheeks down you can't feel shit

Also the pain pills I got felt real good and I ate lots of noodles and Ice cream overall comfy/10 operation

Tried local could still feel it so dentist gave up and i went with general with another dentist.

When you are knocked out you dont havr to hear the bones crunching.

Hey guys OP here. I’m leaning towards local anesthetic. All but one tooth are under the gums. How much of a difference does that make? My dentist said last year they invented a new thing where they take blood from your arm, desperate the plasma and inject it in the socket afterward and it heals within 2-3 days and she said her kid ate a steak dinner the night after the operation. Anyone know about this? Or am I being memed.

If you have 4 teeth that are angled 90° and didn't break trough, then let them knock you out.
You don't want to suffer trough a hour of them chipping them apart piece by piece since the local is less effective closer to the back of your jaw

Just to add I went to a good surgeon, it was expensive but worth. I also had it bad because they were so fucked up, so I had to be out for a week due to the swelling, most people its 2 days.

Have you ever had general anesthesia? It is fucking amazing. I was zooted for like 6 hours after my surgery and they gave me a 30 day supply of prescription opiates. I was 16 at the time but mom didn't really pay too much attention to how quickly they disappeared. Absolutely a great experience.

Depends, if they are pretty much all the way in then yes local is fine.
Some people get them super impacted so they come in sideways and smash into the rest of your teeth and the doc has to cut them out.

Local anesthesia was covered by my insurance so I did that. I waited a very long time to get them pulled, was like 27. Thank god my Dentist was jacked, otherwise i would have been there for hours. Took literally 2 seconds to pull my top wisdom, but the bottom ones he had to fight for about half an hour. He ended up bruising my lower jaw nerve so my left side of my face was numb for 24 hours. After he stuck me with local and a few more, all I felt was pressure. No pain, but hella uncomfortable.

Evolution didn't insert those teeth just for kicks. There's a reason they're there, and unless there's a very very good reason (ie you're a jawlet and your other teeth are getting obliterated) you absolutely should not get them removed.

Had mine done, was put under.
Very minimal pain, hydrocodone helped. Ice packs, lots of rest. I only did body weight workouts.

I was put under and the gauze came out of the sockets on the way home while my mom was getting me a milkshake. So I tried to get out of the vehicle but the doors were locked, so I opened it. And the alarm went off. I ended up standing outside the vehicle with blood pouring out of my mouth with the loud ass alarm going off next to a busy road.

its uncomfortable as fuck, you might feel some pain here and there but it will last 1 or 2 seconds, what hurt the most was the anesthesia injections and i heavily advise to take 1 or 2 at a time, if you take out 4 your face will look like a literal monster and you might even get some complications.
Other than that, you will spit some blood the first day and a LOT of saliva, second day its gone and after 5 days you are good to go back to work and you might want to wait 10 days or more before lifting again.

No since literally either they will grow normally or misaligned.
If your teeth grow out straight you have a perfect jaw for your size, if they grow in and misalign the other teeth your jaw isn't large enough.

i got mine done with just a lil numbing. very painful, but it was over in an hour or so. if you can afford to go to sleep why not, but it is much more cost effective to not be a pussy. Listen to the aftercare plan or you will wish you were dead regardless of what route you go.

I had general only because one of them was badly impacted and had to be "chipped out". Probably would have been fine but incredibly uncomfortable with local, so this was easy. Was pretty out of it for a couple of hours after but didn't end up talking too much shit. Didn't bleed too much or anything, I only took painkillers for one day and found it wasn't actually painful. The annoying part was the stitches starting to fall out.
Gargle with salt water, eat some soup, drink some shakes.

I had general one other time to get a pilonidal sinus excised. They got me onto the table and laying sideways and just before they got me to start counting down for the anaesthetic, one of the (female) nurses slapped my bare ass. To reassure me I think...

I got all four pulled BY MY OWN MOTHER with only local anesthesia. It's not too bad, but if your teeth are coming in sideways then they will 100% put you asleep

I had this done, just get the novocaine, You don't feel a thing, your mouth is completely numb. No need to get put to sleep

Depends on your dentist. If they're good, you've got nothing to worry. I was given a bottle of tylenol 3's just in case, but I didn't have to use one. I was good to go by the end of the day.

my story is the same as this guys minus the noodle eating part. the shit they sometimes use for local anesthetic can numb your bottom lips permantly in some people but they don't tell you because what is informed consent. make sure you have pain pills or whatever perscription they get you setup with on hand because once what they give you at your visit wears off its very very painful

I had 6 total to be removed. i did 2 at a time and the last pair were too far in my sinuses. That was 6 years ago, the last are more or less fully in and they're a nuisance but not at all painful. It helps that they're pointing outward to the back of my mouth, I only get mild discomfort once every 4-6 months. They're a bitch to brush around but not impossible

For local they'll put a needle 4 times in that will fucking hurt. One of my quadrants did not numb, so they did it again...and again...and again. 7x they stabbed that bitch and it hurt like fuck. After the 8th I got mad and said just fucking do it, so they did it without local anesthesia. Worst mistake of my entire life, do not do that. The feeling of your tooth being cracked, split, and ripped is not something I'd wish on anyone

Alternatively my friend got his taken out while asleep, because he's terrified of needles. Just got called a pussy by his friends but otherwise good.

I guess cost would be the only reason to do local, or the fear of an anesthesiologist killing you on accident.

that was my experience with getting a root canal and then a tooth pulled; they shot me up with local anesthetic over a dozen times and it never worked. it was fucking terrible, either i'm resistant to the anesthetic or they are just shit at their job

What an absolute pussy. There is nothing to it. It's a very simple procedure and they numb it enough that it doesn't feel like anything (no pain.)

My doc gave me a cocktail of drugs a half hour before the procedure and took those fuckers out (had two bottom). It didn't even go well, he had to chop them up into pieces to extract them.

After the pain meds wore off it was a little painful but back to normal within a week or so, your mouth heals extremely fast compared to the rest of your body.

Just do it and don't even think about it, it'll be over before you know it and you'll save yourself from fucked up teeth and constant pain.

Some places do, mine did, they had a gel they rubbed on the area. He did do one without it first and it wasn't that bad, kind of feels like a pinch on your tooth, it's weird.

Join the army, I got 3/4 of mine taken out for free and got a couple of paid days off work. Totally worth fighting in Afghanistan.
