AC JOINT

I fucked my AC joint over a year ago and it's still stops me from benching. I've seen a GP (doctor) and Physiotherapist (hack) and they've been no help. I'm not even sure what grade my separation is because these weren't able to x-ray.

>GP says have to stop weightlifting for a year
>Physio didn't help at all and rambled about posture and gave a back massage (and charged a fortune)

I'm stuck doing callisthenics and even that makes the shoulder sore. How do I rehabilitate this shoulder? How do I know which professionals actually will be helpful?

I'm at wits end here lads... I just want to be able to bench again.

gotta time these things

1 year is a real fucking long time.

not only do you have to rehab the main muscles of your lifts but pretty much all the fucking muscles on the hurt shoulder.

ye i got an issue similar, i got a fracture in my collar bone ages ago like 6 months and i dont think i ever let it recover properly so no im just gonna do no pressing till the end of july, also had an injury before and havent been able to bench since august :(((

shoulder take ages to heal man, give it rest. I've been working on several tendinitis for a year an a half (but i've built injuries on injuries because I'm a moron). Give it time. Don't over stress your muscles, find a good kinetherapist to do rehab, reinforce your whole rotator cuffs starting with (very) low weight. It take times, but take that time to heal, man. Shoulder injuries can last decades if you don't take care of them correctly.

>that guy who recked his AC joint bench pressing with a wide grip

THIS IS WHY YOU ALWAYS BENCH WITH A CLOSE GRIP

NO ITS NOT A TRICEP EXERCISE, IT GIVES YOUR BENCH MORE ROM AND ACTUALLY ACTIVATES THE PECS MORE, AND IT KEEPS YOUR SHOULDERS SAFE

fucking idiots

Hey this is Jeff Cavaliere from Athlean X.com..

Should have done your face pulls user. NON NEGOTIABLE

he never mentioned how he fucked up his AC joint

benching max legal isn't particularly risky unless you're a small guy trying to force your grip wider than you should

I'll tell you right now, rippetoe style ohp with autistic form helps my shoulder more than any physio movements ever did

Know this feel. Coming up on four months of no benching and shoulder. just wanna go back to training chest and shoulders.
I can rack pull and squat without any discomfort although I do feel a slight pinch the following day in the joint. Gonna take the rest of summer off and jump on Sarms when I come back

And why is bench pressing that important to you? Its just an exercise, not the king of all exercises. Just give your shoulder some timw to heel, probably few months during which you'll focus on other lagging parts of your body (im sure you are not perfect) and in no time you'll be able to do the stufd you enjoy again. And "im stuck with calisthenics" sounds ridiculous since most of the bw exercises are quite hard if you follow some progressiona

The way I injured it actually pretty embarrassing.

Was visiting my family and there's no gym there so I was using push up handles there, asked little sister to lay on my back to provide extra weight. She pushed her feet against the floor so I relaxed my muscles... she lifts her feet putting all the weight on my relaxed muscles and my chest hits the floor while I still have hold of those handles.

Never trust kids lads.

A year should be long enough to recover from an AC tear. You should probably get an xray to see how bad it actually is, and shop around for a pt with some kind of track record with real athletes.

GPs don't know shit, go to an ortho for a second (and better) opinion

Oh fuck don't tell me that shit.
Physio just told me yesterday that my jacked up rotator cuff is caused by my Ac joint being fucked.

Can you get a free visit through the NHS, don't fancy forking out another £80

Shut your face Blaha

I'm covered for all visits involving this injury by the workman's comp board and any extended care through my jobs benefits plan.
Pretty sure my provincial health care would take care of my appointment costs and pretty much the main stuff just not the medication and "non-approved" recovery options the physiotherapist is going to use to help me.

Did you really took the time to draw a fucked up shoulder wojak just to make this thread?

I too have the same problem. It happened several years ago and I right now I do heavy bench / dumbbell presses. I believe it should actually help the shoulder to strengthen

That's what you get for doing barbell bench press like a retard. Fucking idiot. LMAO

You vastly overestimate the amount of time and effort it took to draw that.

I fucked up my AC joint a while back, OP. Took over a year to heal, rehab was hell. I can bench press again, but only reverse grip. Give it a try once the inflammation goes down and you rehab your rotator cuff muscles.
