Yo dudes, I actually lived in China for a whole year, Shanghai to be precise. I used their app called Tan Tan for a while, it's basically identical to tinder.
The craziest thing I noticed was that when I was in the more central areas of Shanghai, and in the trendier, more westernized spots, I would get A LOT of matches. It felt like AT LEAST 50%, possibly more. In the shitty area I lived where people still lived in their Chinese bubble, and basically had no exposure to the West, I did pretty badly. Maybe 10-20% of girls would match, if that, and they were not really attractive at all, mostly had edited faces anyway.
The girls in the center and cool areas that I matched with were also WAY hotter. The difference is seriously unbelievable. The ones in the 'real' Chinese areas honestly seemed to have zero interest in me for the most part, whereas the much hotter, westernized ones were way more attracted and would show it. Except for a few, with regards to the former you just don't seem to ping on their radar.
So my advice, if you're going for a Chinese chick, is to basically go for the westernized girls. You won't want to, but don't even bother with the ones that aren't, because they don't want to know you for the most part. They are mostly quite ugly and have really awkward dress sense. Stick to the better looking ones who have decent style. Anyone who does go to China would figure this out anyway, and likely if you're just visiting you won't even notice the non-westernized ones.
The whole thing about Chinese girls being obsessed with foreign guys is both completely true, but at the same time in some ways entirely false. The ones who do like westerners make it pretty damn obvious, and you'll notice it for sure, especially if you're good-looking. Still, this is a minority of girls imo. A minority, but they're like the second most attractive group. The most attractive are basically gold-diggers so probably don't bother, but the second-tier are good to go.
